so i think balzer 2.0 had this battery ics like before and now there is an apk for 3.7 and im having trouble installing it i put the new apk right next to the orginal and switched the orginal when i did that my phone went crazy and had to recover a nanodroid
and i use rom toolbox i havent tried with root explorer yet is there a difference?

Okay so I've done a lot of looking first. I started by using Titanium and I uninstalled my amazonmp3 and my 3g mobile hotspot garbage but I decided to do this before making a nandroid backup.
I got ROM Manager and made a back up before I did anything else but I'm still lacking these two default apps. I downloaded some stock incredible distro's and managed to find the amazonmp3.apk but I still can't find a mobile hotspot one. Does anyone know where I can find the apk? or can someone upload it for me.
Also, I'd rather not completely delete the apk's, I'd like everything to be reversible, if possible. Any recommendations on the best, easiest, and cheapest way to do this?
Droid Incredible running stock Froyo, rooted, I believe S-OFF. I used unrEVOked 3.21.
you can fing it on the skyrider rom i think.
I personally do a backup with Titanium, Mybackup pro, and nandroid before modifying anything I'm uncertain of. As for safely removing bloat, their are two ways. One is to move the files from the original directory (/system/app) to another, I personally go to the SD card which is easier to backup to my computer. The other option is to just rename the original files (leaving them in the original directory) by changing the file extension (ie change from .apk to .apk.bak). The files can be restore by moving them back to the /system/app directory or removing the modification to the file extension, respectively.

Thanks for the upload. Yeah, I guess the wifi one's were in the Stock Froyo that I downloaded I coulda sworn it was named something else though so I overlooked it. I managed to get the Android SDK working so I can modify my root through the ADB Shell. Seemed a lot more complicated that it really is earlier. Got everything back to normal basically. Going to make a couple of back ups using ROM Manager now. Thanks for all of the help.
Since you use titanium you can just "freeze" the apps. It's just like renaming them but easier.

Hello. Hopefully someone can help me with this.
I have created an Elite themed Launcher Pro (based on Koni's Elite series I rom). I have all the framework modified and the apk ready to flasha gain.
I started by using the zip from the Myn's Rom launcher pro and replaced the framework files. i flash it and it does place the apk in data/app however the phone doesnt recognize that it is present. Nothing shows in applications under settings and cant get it to "run".
When i move the apk to system/app it works perfectly.
anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this. I am sure i probably just missed something silly but i cant seem to get it going for the life of me.

Only thing I can think of is when modifying it got signed as system file maybe? Not too sure cause I modified the original LP apk and reinstalled from SD root like normal app. Seems this would be easier than having to flash it but just my thoughts.
Also, why not just leave in system/app?
The main reason for not leaving it in system/app (and also for the flash) is because it doesnt put the dock background on by default. Those who would like to use it have to go and set it them selves. Which isn't a huge deal by itself but trying to make it as easy as possibe for the users.

I jus rooted my I8150, i made it to be able to get some apk files. I use Root Explorer. The problem is that i can find all apk files but 1 is missing - i cant find Swype apk file - someone know where to search it ? Maybe i will add info that Swype was added in stock rom of some company "1&1" from Germany. I want to upgrade Android to 2.3.6 but i want to keep swype. Help me please.
Mmmmh, if you update Swype stays there. Anyway, I believe it's in system/apps
Y u right. After i installed new rom by Odin phone resterted and i had every application from old rom. I made wipe and now i dont have anything I made some backup with Titanium Backup but now again i need to root phone to use the files because everything from phone memory was deleted.

i havent installed any custom ROM i just rooted my phone to download some apps then as i browse the ROM toolbox i tried the Theme Manager installed a theme, i knew to myself i load a backup file. the theme wasnt worked on my phone because it says i need to have CM7 but i dont wanna try installing it because i wasnt knowledgeable about those stuff.
anyway my problem is the theme didnt worked, it worked on some stuff like the status bar, and now when i was about to restore my previous setting my backup file was gone!
how am i going to change back my settings? my phone looks worst. help me.

I had the original optimus g on att and had been running a leaked version of 4.1.2 and was able to get an aosp version of the mms.apk to run (didnt like the one on the rom, no emojis haha) and since this is running 4.1.2, would it be possible to swap in that same mms app if i root the decive? If anyone braver than me wants to give it a try i still have the mms.apk i had on my OG. Or possibly root, install tb and then freeze stock/restore backup of mms.apk? If anyone has done this already then awesome, if not maybe ill do it this weekend (became a bit of a flash-o-holic with my OG so i cant wait for someone to tear into this and get some nice roms loaded

You can install the MMS.apk as a user app and not a system app. Makes it quite a bit less risky. If it causes problems you can just uninstall it.
whenever i try to install it it keeps saying its a system app and then fails cuz it says there is an app with a conflicting signature. is there a special way to install it as a user app instead of system or does it all depend on the apk?
I was messing around with this the day after I first got mine. Since they have the same signature, you can't install both at the same time. The only way that I would suggest doing this safely is to be rooted, set the system\app folder to read/write, rename the UniMessagebin.apk to UniMessagebin.apk.bak, then rename UniMessagebin.odex to UniMessagebin.odex.bak. Copy your mms.apk file to the system\app folder and rename it to UniMessagebin.apk then set permission on it to -rw-r--r--. Then set you system\app folder permissions back to rwxr-xr-x.
You should NOT need to reboot at this point. If the apk is valid and will work the the current system framework, you should see it show up in your app drawer. I was able to get the AOSP 4.1.2 mms.apk to run ok on my phone, but MMS messages weren't working (apparently a known issue with 4.1.2 AOSP). If the apk force closes or doesn't show up as valid, go and delete it from your system\app folder and rename the other two files back to their original names before you attempt to reboot.

i actually found one that worked but didnt have the popup like i had on my original og and the stock one on pro has it...plus the notifications didnt work at all...only reason i knew i had msgs waiting was cuz i happened to open the app...thankfully gf knows wat a geek i am and believed me when i told her haha. back to hunting i guess...thanks for all the help
