Hi guys, please help me out. I flashed cm7.2 and used doomkernel. Everything was working pretty well but I got bored and wanted to try a MIUI rom.
So I backed up my cm7.2 and flashed sinMIUI and used the doomkernel for MIUI. Again, everything working well, except terrible battery drain.
Anyway, I thought I would go back to cm7.2 for the weekend. I backed up sinMIUI and then tried to restore cm.7.2 - however, it never booted. Just stuck on doomkernel screen. Pulled battery and tried again, but still stuck in doomkernel screen. So I gave up, went back into recovery and restored sinMIUI instead - no problems.
So why couldn't I restore cm7.2? Here is my guess, please correct me if I am wrong.
What I should have done is...first flash the doomkernel (for cm.7.2) boot.img with fastboot - then once that is loading, go into recovery and restore cm7.2?
right, doomkernel for cm7 just for cm7,n kernel for miui just for miui, specially made for that rom

My Defy+ had originally an Android 2.3.4
I successfully flashed many ROMs and happy with CM7 WhiteRabbit.
I decided to restore a nandroid backup of the original firmware 4.5.1-134_DFP-89 just to test if I could go back "just in case".
With great wonder the phone is stuck un Motorola logo even if checksum seems right.
If I re-flash WhiteRabbit the phone boots correctly.
I never flashed a kernel different from the original.
I know I could flash a more recent SBF but could you help me in explaining how is this possbile?
PS: I wiped cache/data/dalvik with no result.

Some roms like cm7.1 stable contain kernels, ie boot images chances are you've flashed a boot.img(kernel) without knowing
teamwork makes the dream work
You are right! Now the next (and last) questions.
Can I go back to old firmware without sbf?
How can I discover which ROM flashed the kernel?

Without knowing the rom you've flashed I can't tell you which have caused it, but if you still have the zips then just open them up the one with the boot.img done it,
Only way back is reflash the sbf unless you made a back up of the boot image when you made your nandroid
teamwork makes the dream work
The nandroid backup I am trying to restore has a boot.img. When I find which ROM flashed the kernel I will compare and see if it is the right one. Thanks.
EDIT: I found out that I flashed a kernel with maniac's CM7.2 RC1 (I thought it was no kernel like nightlies), but it is different from the one I have in stock image backup. So the question why I am stuck if I restore the nandroid including the kernel remains. I will go on in the study.

Hey guys i'm trying to run this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278758
and this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1380713
on my Arc, i rooted with zergRUSH on .42, installed auto cwm installer, flashed a working DoomKernel V4 (works with other roms).
I tested both the above roms on DoomKernel, doing all the wiping first (system, cache, davlik etc.)
My basbeand is .56 which hasen't seemed to be a problem with anything else.
The problem is after rebooting from cwm recovery after flashing the roms, my phone gets into a boot loop, showing the DoomKernel image, than rom logo, then reboot again, and so on, just wondering what i might be doing wrong
Thanks in advanced.
(also, 1 more thing, I'm new to the forums, so can someone give me some idea of where the GOD DAMN thanks button is)
You are trying the ICS kernel with GB rom.
Thats not possible.
Flash/Fastboot ics kernel to ics rom
And gb kernel to gb rom

Thanks
Hey man thanks, i flashed my device back to stock .42 with wotanclient, so i got my stock kernel back, reflashed cwm recovery, and then managed to get the 1st rom working on the stock kernel.
However, i can't seem to get wifi working on the 1st rom, and it has somehow removed my cwm recovery.
Gonna reflash stock .42 so i can test the second rom.
(also, i found the thanks button)
For wifi you need to flash the wifi modules
From my sexy LT15i
Still no wifi
Hey mate thanks for the suggestion, i managed to get both roms working on the stock kernel with no add-ons, however as with the first one, i can't get any wifi on the second one,
I had a look at both the rom threads, neither of which provide and kind of wifi module to speak of, and the only module i can find is with DoomKernel, which causes neither of the roms to work.
On both roms, when i try to turn on the wifi all i get is this
Wi-Fi
Error
Thanks in advanced
Witch rom and doom did you use.
The doomkernel v.20 is for gingerbeard roms (android 2)
The doomkernel v.4 is for icecreamsandwich roms (android 4)
Try the wifi module from doom anyway, ir try to contact dev.

Flashtool?
Yes. Backup your apps with titanium backup, reinstall ftf using flashtool, and install CM9 again, restore everything and use it for some time see if the problem's gone.

Hey guys, got a problem here.
Today i wanted to try out the cyangenmod 10.1. I currently was on the icecoldjelly 421 2.0. After flashing the boot img and installing the cyanogen rom, after the reboot the rom keeps hanging on the load screen!
Tried erase cache but nothing worked. Flashed the boot.img from the rom(installer).
So that didnt worked. Brought back my phone to stock with a RUU. Everything works fine.
So again after this i installed cyanogen again... still the same problem, it hangs in the loading screen...
I thought maby the rom is faulty, so i installed the newest version of icecoldjelly 2.1, flashed the boot from the rom..... also with this rom it hangs on the loading screen.
Im no restoring my backup because i dont know what to do?
Im on hboot 1.36
pervious version of icecoldjelly 2.0 worked just fine.
So guys do you know what the problem could be? Never had thisbefore

After putting back my backup i tryed to install icecoldjelly 2.1 instead of cyanogen first.
What ive read and think i was forgotten was the full wipe of data before installing the rom. I now did this after reading again on the ICJ forum, and now the rom is working fine!!
CM should work too after a full wipe.

Hey!
I have a problem with my Xperia Play. It is definitely rooted and bootloader unlocked, etc, but when I flash any new kernel, it refuses to boot!
I've tried booting CWM recovery and wiping/resetting everything (cache, user data, etc) but still no dice. I've tried the newest version of LuPuS and Doomkernel, but still nothing.
I was on stock before, not sure what version though.
Never mind, I reinstalled stock firmware then installed Lupus and it worked. Must've been using the wrong stock or something, I don't know.
I had the same problem. Once I tried some ICS ROM and than I wanted revert to GB, reflash FW .79, flash Lupus, flash Gin2Jelly and my phone restarting again and again after kernel logo it always crashed. I must flash FW .79 five times and then it was ok and it's still ok, but in frist moment I thought that I break my phone.
