[Q] How can I delete the internal software?

For some internal softwares such as "Finance/Listen/music..." may not be used, I want to delete these softwares. But I can't find the way or app to do it. How can I do?

If you are rooted, go to market and get a file explorer for root. You can access system files. Make sure the fike explorer has su permissions and once in file manager you mount from ro to rw and go to system / app. I use root explorer. Hope this helps. Titanium Backup easiest. It has an uninstall feature.

Yeah just to simplify the other guy's response just use titanium backup. Then go to the backup/restore tab, find the finance app, then tap it and select uninstall. It's that easy

In my experiences, I'd say that disabling the app would be a better option. I only say this because the recent OTA update wouldn't go because Google Goggles was completely uninstalled and there was no way for me to force the installation. I ended up jumping through hoops and balancing a ball on my nose to get the app re-installed so that the update would be clean.
In short, you might run into issues in future updates, should there be any, if you uninstall apps. If you don't want it shown or running, disabling it won't run the service and the icon disappears. Besides, the amount of disk space you gain from removing it is incredibly small.

while i agree that disabling the apps was best when we didn't have perm root, now we can write to /system so if an update comes out we can just put the apps back and apply, or wait a few hours and get a rooted update with all the stuff we need from the OTA and we don't have to worry about stuff not working because app X was removed

[Q] Removing stock apps to save space?

I noticed some threads for different phones with regard to this but didn't see an answer for the EVO so I'll ask here.
I would like more space on my phone as I'm tired of seeing the little low space hard drive icon. I've already moved all the apps to SD via app2SD. I was thinking of installing the latest rooted stock Sprint ROM (3.70.651.1) and then deleting the stock apps that I do not use but I have read elsewhere that this will, in fact, not free up any more space for applications. Is this true?
If so, can I get a recommendation for the "most stock" ROM that's stripped of the Sprint added apps. If it has some ubiquitous and useful add-ons than that is OK

There's a couple of ROMs in the Dev section that are optimized for speed, and I'd recommend those. A lot of them have them already removed, but you can remove the ones that aren't

Thanks for the response... I apologize if I didn't state my question correctly. I understand that I can remove the apps that I want if I'm rooted, what I'm not sure about is if that space will be made available for other applications when I do remove the programs (in ROM) that I do not want.

A small amount of space will be freed. If you move Dalvik Cache to the Cache partition this will free up a lot more space than removing apps.

Search on XDA for "move dalvik to cache". There should be a zip file you can download that will do it for you.

Thanks again for the info. I did as you suggested and now have 266 MB left where before I had less than 50. Using ap2sd with Azrael ROM and do far have not run into any issues. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Note, however, that most of the stock apps are in your system partition. The free space you care about for installing apps is in the data partition. So removing them doesn't free up the space you care about. Even on ROMs that have removed them, I'm not sure if they actually do (or can) resize the partitions to give you the space where it counts (/data).
You can, however, move apps to the system partition if you want. I've done this with some of the updates to stock apps -- GMail, Qik, and Flash, for example. That's freed some space up.

This sounds like it is worthwhile to learn how to do. Is there a thread or program that you could point me to for some guidance on how to do this?
I've also read that ap2sd can move programs that have not yet been modified to enable the regular android 2.2 "move to SD" function to work; but after flashing that app and using it to move the Dalvik cache I do see any obvious front-end for it.

Basically you just move the APK file from /data/app to /system/app using ES File Explorer (need to enable root mode in prefs) or Root Explorer. Or you can do it with adb or even terminal emulator on the phone if you prefer. I think Titanium Backup Pro (the paid version) has an ability to do this too. You also want to look in /system/app and see if there's an older version under some other name that should be deleted. Titanium Pro may handle this part for you automatically as well. I haven't bought it yet, so I'm not sure (though I plan to, the free version is great and the paid version adds some nice things). I think you can still get updates from the market after you've done this, but the update will go to /data/app. You'd need to move it and delete the prior version again after receiving such an update.
I haven't enabled a2sd yet. My understanding is that it's not so much something you need a front end for. Once you set it up, that's just where your apps go. You don't move your apps to the sd card manually. I could be wrong. I used whatever form of a2sd was available for XDAndroid on my old Touch, but that's been a little while and the DarkStar A2SD that people use might be a little different than that method. I haven't done it at all yet on the evo.

[Q] New to Android

Hi,
I just got my new SE Xperia Play phone and got it with android Gingerbread on it, I'm not completely familiar with this OS but following information that I've read I rooted my phone and it is working fine, I did this cause I read that by doing this I would be able to remove and add apps to my phone as I became a Super User on the Linux side of it. Now my questions is, How can I do this? I've tried to find like an step by step add and remove apps on my phone with no luck. Also I'd like to get some information on what can I do and what I can't (or shouldn't do) with my super user rights ( i found this but not sure how to add this titanium backup on my phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046699).
All help will be greatly appreciated.

you can delete any apps including system apps by using TITANIUM BACKUP.
once you've installed it and run it click on the backup/restore tab at the top then select whatever app you want to remove (system apps inluded) click that app and there will be an uninstall option.
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU DELETE!

oh ok I get it, so it is available through the android market.. now that is for the Uninstall stuff part (thanks to both) now in order to get stuff installed into the phone is it there an option for that or can I do it using the linux terminal that is installed on the phone?

OK, I have been where you are, and maybe this VERY brief summary will get you started.
1. Root - you did that.
2. Download and install the CWM for locked bootloaders from this link here.
3. Follow the instructions to power off, then power on and press down on the Volume Down key to enter the recovery mode. Then go to the Backup/Restore menu and backup the phone. This creates a Nandroid, or image of the phone so you can put it back to rooted stock if you mess something up.
4. Download and install Titanium Backup from the App Market. You can use this to uninstall any bloatware, including System files, but use with caution so you won't need to use your Nandroid! There is a safe list thread here that will give you some help in what you can remove.
5. Apps for Android usually come from the Android Market, or another market that hosts Android apps like Amazon AppMarket, etc. So any program you want to install will generally need to come from there. (Yes, I know there are some apps around that some Joe Ubertech wrote, but in general, you will want to get apps from the Market or a Vendor site, like Gameloft or EA.)
6. Use an App2SD program to move as many apps to your SD Card as are able to go. This frees up internal storage so you can run smoothly and have a lot of apps too. I like Droidsail Super App2SD (ROOT) because it lets you select a group of apps at one time to move. Do NOT move to SD any app that is accessed through a widget, or any replacement launcher program.
7. Be aware that Programs marked as System files cannot be moved to SD. However, some of them, like the preinstalled games, GMail, Youtube, etc, are also found in the Market. You can either delete them and reinstall them from the Market, or use a program like Root Explorer to manually move these to a folder on the SD card. Then reboot your phone, and you can reinstall them as user apps and be able to move them to SD as well.
8. Read. Read, read, read, READ everything you can get your hands on here in xda. It has been the best source of info for the Xperia Play.

i guys, i have a Stock Room GN2 GT-N7100-Ver. 4.1.2-Ver. Base Band N7100ublh2. is ROOTED, and i install the titanium backup app. and a i realized that from this app. i cant delete apps from the play store (guess more than one kno this:silly, so i want to know , if i can delete apps or packages fron my stock room if so, what apps or packages can i delete from the stock rom with out having problems with the divice?

yes read above thread for which application is safe to remove, but as per title of thread
if you are doing this to make space then note, these applications stores in System ROM and making free space on system ROM, you can not use that space to replace other user application.
many ppl removing this (bloatware) to enhance performance by preventing them to run in background, though it is also debate whether really how much this help. b''coz android itself have some function to keep process running in background to recall it fast. so if you remove bloatware, that will be replaced by other application till android feel RAM if full, and same time android will autokill background process to make more free space available.

Since your device is root, use Directory Bind to put big data from internal to SD. For instance, i use it for Wild Blood, saving up to 2Gb of internal space. The game take only a longer time to launch.
Instead of deleting apps and risking seeing my device brick, i use the Android 4.1 freeze option, i think it's safer to use it, you can't freeze needed system apps.
Deleting apps is not as useful as doing it with other phones since there is around 780Mb of free system space. To free internal memory, with Titanium you can move apps from internal to system.
If you use Instagram a lot, move Instagram pictures from /storage/sdcard0/Pictures to sd card. Setup the camera to write to SD card.

Ofcourse you can use this space? What prevents you from making regular user apps to system apps?
I would suggest freezing apps first with Titanium, then after several days, if nothing happens, you can remove them. I used to do this all the time on my DHD and do it for a few apps on my N7.

Pixelize my Note 10+??

I have a Sprint variant (yuck). I don't particularly want to root it since I will lose some functions I use. But does anyone have a list of the commands to remove the Sprint bloat?
I also would love to get rid of Samsung native apps and replace with Google, like sms and all that. Is this possible without running into issues? I know deleting certain apps can make the phone act all wonky. Thanks in advance.

You can disable all the bloatware you do not want/like, via ADB commands, or, using ccswe and package disabler pro, which is way easier

I tried the last two with no luck, says apps like Amazon are system apps and can't uninstall. I'll have to set up ADB later and try that.

system apps can only be disabled (unless rooted) . Adb or otherwise.

With the onboard storage this device has, just disabling the unwanted stuff is good enough, furthermore, uninstalling certain things may lead to some troubles, it is safer to disable rather than uninstalling, package disabler pro can handle some system apps that ccswe can not, I use both apps

I Pixelized my Note 10+. First, use ADB to disable many Samsung and bloat apps (some Samsung apps are actually more functional than the Google versions so choose carefully). You can even find a patched version of the Google Phone app to replace the Samsung one, then enable it in default apps. Then you can install HEX Installer and Android 10 Q theme plugin from the Play Store.
The phone is much faster and cleaner looking and I don't mind the UI anymore.
