Wait for it
I'm very sure that there won't be any official update of ICS for Galaxy Y. But There will be unofficial for sure. Just wait for it. There are many DEVS who are willing to do that for us. But our constantly asking them is bad. They get irritated by that. SO kindly wait for this.
THERE WILL BE ICS FOR GALAXY Y

You guys are dreaming. A full ics rom definitely will not fit within the minuscule system rom of sgy. Maybe a custom rom, but could be heavily emasculated, you might see only an ics theme.

Exciting news, will be very interesting to see what all of our talented developers can do when they finally have the sourcecode for a tablet optimized operating system.
Just to let you guys know, the HoneyComb source code was released too, along with the ICS version. So if someone just want to get HC instead of ICS (I really don't know why someone would do this but) you can.

Its funny google didn't want to give out the HC code but had to as ICS uses some of its code and and ICS from what I read can be patch to use HC drives so having both HC &ICS code will be a huge help

yes yes PLEASE show some love for CDMA owners.
I know every dev will flame me probably but i think it would be cool to have a fully functioning honeycomb port with hwa and camera working on it it would be tottaly awesome to play with for us flashaholics and a journy into a new type of evo for those who dont want to jump into an android tablet just yet!
There is n aplha still in the dev section, but practically nothing works. Just for tablets, so the project died. Everyone is focused on ICS, and since it'll be eventually on tablets, just stick with that.
I think it would be cool to have a port since the source is out but it would be alot of work to get it fully functional an since ics is out most see it useless

ive been toying with the alpha since last feburary XD im not much of a dev just a student useless no but most devs wont look at it for some reason and a build from source has never been attempted i cant compile since i dont want to partition my new cpu with linux or F up my startup with wubi lol but really EVO 4g development has slowed down! and once ICS is out itll be more of the same all these ics roms and clones will be released and nothing new to challenge or play with for us

Thats like asking me to eat the same kinda candy for the rest of my life XD lol to be honest with you ive been using ICS for a while now without the camera and im alrady bored of it!..... bored of the same ol releases coming out there are so many android flavors ! moto blurr droids Samsung Touchwiz overlays im tired of sticking with the same ol same
ANYONE REMEMBER THE OLD M9 port! that got to boot and fixed the .sh files to get data and network working!!! on that one but i cant keep it cuz its laggy it seems that were stuck with the same ol same all the time just copies of stock roms and copies of AOSP roms
Honeycomb less than or equal to Ice Cream Sandwich. The source code is basically the same, that's why it wasn't released until Ice Cream Sandwich was released too. Ice Cream Sandwich is just made to bridge the gap between tablets and phones.

i guess u could say that but honeycomb is not my only concern i mean look at all the other great ports out there that never got out of alpha or beta because of some dev deciding something else was better then it ok maybe not honeycomb since we didnt even see it reach pre alpha status it was just boot but what bout m9 and touch wiz and evolurr

Looks like 5.0 Jelly Bean will be coming soon but will out phones even run 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ? Who knows.
Of course 5.0 is aimed at larger devices but it will probably be ported to any device the developers see fit to port to.

Yeah scrap the Android 4 AOSP petition.
Lets make it Android 4 Sense this time and then Android 5 AOSP.
We can also send a petition to Qualcom to make and release a code to make the Desire processor dual core.
ICS is running fairly decently on Desire and Nexus One I'd say - still bugs but there's massive progress
we all cant wait until ICS is 100% working will be the day we all fall in love with our Desire again
I am amazed how smooth the ICS ASOP Rom is. But I'm back to Gingerbread and I don't think I'll update to 5.0 any time. I bought the Desire nearly two years ago right at the beginning and the development during this time was great.
IMHO it isn't necessary to update a two year old device to the newest os version.
I want ICS to work on the Desire. HTC still love it. They're just too lazy to get working software on older hardware.
Why not, why not. One reason more to work on 3.x kernel.

I was thinking if it was possible to upgrade from Android 2.3.6 to Android 3 or Android 4? I've searched a lot and haven't found any answers So, I wanted to ask the forum if there were.
Thanks.
2.3.X..That would be Gingerbread
3.0.X..That would be Honeycomb
4.0.X..That would be IceCream Sandwich
As of today we only have the first and the last coz Honeycomb is meant for Tablets only.

Yes. It is POSSIBLE. acro68 has done the CM9 ICS 4.0.4 for us. For android 3.0.x, there was someone who had successfully ported CM7 into our device, but that has not been released.
Oh bummer :C Do you perhaps know when he plans on releasing it?

If they "didn't work" the devs would take them down or not put them up in the first place. Are there some bugs here and there? Yes. Read the threads for those.

Of course. I was just wondering if there were any kernel limitations or major bugs that were not ROM specific, or just in CM10.2.

I'm curious how it is that we have to many custom 4.2.2 rom for the Hercules, yet the graphics driver is not supported?? Did Cyanogen and other rom developers somehow find a way to port the old Qualcomm drivers to other versions of android? Or are we just using the previous 4.1.2 drivers somehow. Either way the statement that the update is somehow incompatible with our device is purely garbage. Truth be told, it is simply a way to sell more devices, at least it is for those who are not willing to flash custom ROMs. For the rest of us there is 4.3 on a device that began as a gingerbread device, which is awesome. Now bring on the KitKat, because I'm sure our device can rock some 4.4 just as well.
