case similar to transformer dock? - Xoom Accessories

Is there any case for the xoom that is similar to the transformer keyboard/trackpad combo. i've seen some with the keyboard but having one with a track pad would really come in handy for me.

The case you're looking for does not exist. I assume you have an Android phone - you can download Blueputdroid and (assuming your phone is rooted - if it isn't...well...it should be) use your phone as a trackpad. It's a pretty great program, it can also be used as a game controller.

I take it back - here's one on eBay - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorola-Xoom-Bluetooth-Leather-Case-Keyboard-Touchpad-Mouse-/180799923988?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item2a1883e714

Very interesting. If you get one let us know how it is.

The transformer one wouldn't fit? I'm pretty sure it won't but... never know

No, it won't. It's made specifically for the TF, it uses the proprietary connector, has clips designed for the case, etc.

OK sorry to waste your time

Exactly what I was looking for thank you very much. I think I'm gonna pick one of these up since they don't seem too expensive.
Edit: that seems to be the only one of its kind on eBay, darn.

Docks made for the OG SGS II...

Just wondering if anyone knows if they would work with our version...
Send from my SGSIIE4T using the XDA app for Android
Epic 4G Touch has slightly larger dimensions and is a bit more curvy. So more than likely not.
OK, so now that the phone has been out for awhile, someone certainly has tried a dock for the SGS2 to see if they work.
I know that our phones are 1mm thicker but there must be some docks that only support the back of the phone. If the usb port is in the middle of the phone then it's only .5mm thicker from there to the rear of the phone, that means if a case has just a wee-bit of slack it should work for our phones... right??
I'm about to start ordering some SGS2 docks from Amazon and see if I can find one that works. If you have already done so then save the rest of us some headaches.
Thanks!
Chad H
I own both phones, and the E4GT is not only slightly thicker but slightly wider (see dimensions comparison on this page).
You might be able to find an Infuse 4G dock that fits the E4GT though.
Thanks for your input. It's nice to hear from someone who actually owns the device (s) in question.
I'll keep looking and maybe find an infuse dock to try.
Thanks again,
Chad

http://amzn.com/B005NJ6EPI <--- this from Amazon is the kind of idea I was thinking of. It should work for any device with a micro USB on the bottom of the device. There are even tablet stands that would work in a pinch. I think I am going to order one from Amazon and report back.

I agree on the expensive part! I like the idea of the one above better because it allows for landscape use also.

Does anyone know if there's a keyboard / battery pack combo? Y'know - something that you can plug in to microusb port. Runs off keyboard battery first (rechargeable), then uses system batt?

Have you heard anything bad about it? All of the reviews I've seen are pretty favorable. I'm eyeing it hard but I just bought the other Moto keyboard a few weeks ago. I would prefer something integrated into a case.
I have looked several times and not been able to find it. I would like to see the link.

I've been looking for something similar to this for my Xoom FE. Do y'all think the slimmer form factor would work in this case? It's a pretty good deal.
I'm guessing it wouldn't work good. The specs on Motorola's site are below. If the length and width were the same, then I would say yes, but since they are not, I don't think it would fit good.
Xoom: (H x W x D)
249.1 x 167.8 x 12.9 mm
Xoom FE:
260 x 177 x 11.4 mm

The Xoom Keyboard Folio case is very snug...really just fits the original Xoom with no room to spare and anything smaller would fall out. It really is just for the original Xoom. It is great and an amazing bargain at $30.
Looks like I'll be going a different route. I'm thinking of just buying a slip cover and the Logitech keyboard with the little case/stand. Looks pretty neat and that seems to be the most effective way of getting what I want for my tablet that no one else seems to own.
I would love to have one, but they are not available (or much more expensive) in Germany
Just got the Verizon case in the mail today and that thing is damn near perfect. Haven't found a flaw yet. My USB adapters come out and go horizontal and the case provides plenty of space for it. Paired with the bluetooth mouse this is much more convenient then dragging around my big laptop
I also received the folio case today. Good quality for the price. Not sure about the keyboard though. Don't like the small shift key on the right side and the home key being just left of the enter key makes you exit to home screen every time you mistakenly hit it. I like the Motorola Bluetooth keyboard a bit better. Anyway, I'll give it a bit more time and maybe I can get use to the layout. The other thing, the case is pretty thick. I expected thickness with keyboard, but I think it could have been designed slightly thinner. The leather is layered and quite thick. The stand works well, but only 1 angle to choose from, which is a pretty steep angle.

I really think the thickness isn't too bad. Only thing I've noticed is the camera is kind of blocked unless you pull the stand down. Not a huge deal as I don't use it very often, but still is there. I do like the space between the bottom of the Xoom and the fold. Plenty of room for USB stuff

Folio case with KB
I have the Folio case with the Keyboard and love it. A lot of times I take my Xoom into meetings (where I used to take my laptop instead), and it does the job perfectly for a short while. I wouldn't want to write long letters on the small keyboard, but for meetings, etc...it's perfect.
anyone knows if there is something similar but with swedish keyboard?
I am wondering..is there anywhere I can buy a case which supports to put in a keyboard? Just like this for Ipad http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20017554-1.html
I only want the case and then i'll put in a keyboard. Why am I asking for this? Because I want to buy an keyboard that supports swedish charachters, and obviously the american motorola xoom keyboard case do not have swedish charachters. I am thinking of buying Targus Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard.
I know I'm reviving a very old-dead thread here.
But anyone find a good case with keyboard, that has a working track pad?
I've looked online and I found two sellers with case/keyboard/trackpad BUT the track pad will not work on Xoom.
Thanks in advance if anyone ever reads this and/or respond.

That's just the regular BT keyboard with the extendable track pad.
I'm looking for the folio combo that's a case/keyboard/track pad all in one. Kind of like the Asus transformer has the dock. Except we can't dock so its just a folio case.
If nothing else, I will consider that one and fit it into a case.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm glad everyone likes it so much.
I would consider selling these but I would want to find a better mount first, something with a smaller base so it could be attached to an assortment of controllers (sixaxis, snes, n64, wii, etc.). If anyone has that sort of info I would like to see it.
I'd say it would be about $50 for labor and shipping excluding materials. It's not really worth it IMHO because it is easy enough to make with just a Dremel and a soldering iron (if you want to shorten the usb cable like I did).
Also some differences in a new version would be
1) Use a micro b connector straight out of the controller (rather than go full sized usb down to micro b which is pretty bulky) and make a custom cable for use with a laptop/360.
2) Add charge port inline.
3) The area where the headset connects to the controller has a gap in the case due to the button head screw pushing it out. A smaller base would fix that.
4) I would like a mount specifically made for my Gnex just to make it look a bit cleaner.
That is pretty awesome.
do you have a link to the dock you used?
Sorry I don't I just happened to find it around the house. I am sure most of them will work exactly the same though.
Just looked into it. Apparently it is a generic brand, I found one on Walmart, looks identical to mine. Just put that at the end of the Walmart site to find it (to new to post links sorry).

WTF that is amazing. Wow.
This is really amazing. I'd like to reserve one to order when you've got the details worked out.
Awesome!!!!
Greets!
For those wondering about price here it is. Unfortunately the cost got pretty high as I was sorting out the parts list
One of them is an OEM Microsoft controller and a MUCH nicer mount.
The other is a knock off 360 controller with the same mount I have on this version.
Unfortunately the cost is pretty high since they are hand made. About $60 for the cheap one and $90 for the high end one plus shipping.
How about if you didn't include the cost of a controller presuming its not permanently attached and we use one at home?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I had just been getting a lot of PMs about pricing so I wanted to clear it up.
Instead of permanently mounting the controller, how about designing a suction mount or a clip-on mount? That way people can use whatever controller they like and it won't be included in the costs.

Are these keyboards any good ?

So I got a 10.1v model, not the standard 10.1 so pretty much any keyboard that would need the tab to slide into it is a no-go for me as the 10.1v is a few milliliters thicker.
So, unless you point me to anything else, this is the only keyboard I've encountered that I could use that is somewhat "tied" to the tablet :

Did one of you guys purchased one of these ? Are they any good ?
I tried to find something but nothing...I could go with a "floating" bluetooth keyboard is the quality is better.
Thanks !
I used this one for while, until I returned it- no complaints. I just didn't need it.

Go out and buy it, it's awesome!
Bluetooth connection is really easy, it has a fast wake up (and you can wake your device up by pressing any key [this even unlocks a non-protection screenlock] whoo!) and a humongous long battery duration.
Additionally, the build quality is very fine!

Well, I dont know whether this is the best thread to post this.. Please let me know if there's any other thread that to which this post has to be moved..
So my crazy / stupid question is ---
Has anyone tried using the asus keyboard dock with the samsung galaxy tab ?
I think this may be something stupid becoz i am already thinking that the charging port for both the tabs are totally different and this may not work at all..
Still I am just curious to know whether this has been tried by anybody...

To answer the OP's question... I just got one from eBay for $26 US. It works very well. For that much money, it's hard to beat. Your CDMA GT should fit in it just fine. Both the keybaord and the case are good quality, and can't be beat for that much money.
I do see one potential problem, however. When the case is latched closed the rubber (soft plastic) bracket that supports the base of the tablet comes into contact the screen and does exert a slight amount of pressure on the screen. Over time I am guessing that may damage the screen, but I'm just guessing - not sure about that at all.
Actually, I like the standard Samsung book case the best for the Galaxy Tab, and I don't always need the keyboard. So I'm going to take the little rubber keyboard out of this case and carry that separately. For $26, even that is a great buy.
This case/keyboard is sold under a bunch of brand names. Here is a bunch of reviews on Amazon, if you like to read them.
Hey Dan,
I've been using the Mobile Keyboard 6000 from Microsoft for a few weeks now.
The price is a bit overkill but sure worth the quality you get. And the number pad being detached from the letters is a nice feature if your on the go all the time, leaving the number pad behind is sometimes a plus. It is slightly bigger then the tablet itself but i don't mind since also use it for at home.
Ive been rocking the typing book cover for 2 days now, and so far i like it aside from a few things. But its not putting me off of it with its sleek tight fit.
The main issue is that there is no place to hold a stylus. (PS definitely worth the 20 bones to pick one up) and second, when it is being held in its typing arrangement, you cannot have anything plugged in besides the headphones. It does have a small slit so that the headphone jack doesn't have to be removed and put back in every time but they didn't do the same for the charger/accessory port.
Cheers!

I just picked the same one up at Target for $30 on clearance yesterday. Not a fan and I wouldn't recommend it. The cookie-sheet case feels flimsy and it doesn't protect the back of the tablet at all. The metal edges are kind of sharp (not knife sharp) but I have to be careful not to scratch the sides of my tab when putting it face down in this case. I also don't feel that it's very secured when closed (tablet face down). The keyboard works alright, it's very responsive, and it pairs easily and maintains it's connection, but some of the dedicated buttons don't work. I also would rather re-map some of the android keys such as the email button to open gmail. Maybe I can, but haven't looked into it. I guess it's ok if you're looking for a cheap bluetooth keyboard, but I don't trust it to protect my tablet. Idk how logitech justified this as a $100 case.
**edit** Been using this case with the blueputdroid app on my phone as a mouse and am loving it!

I had one a long time ago and after it got some dust on it it didn't work at all.

They work well, just make sure you switch your placement of the pad every now and then otherwise it will leave a spot on your dash

they're very cheap from ebay, only $1.50 a piece so make sure you get a few of them because you will have to change them every month or so. However, they do work really well and yes, even if you drive crazy, they won't fall off. (i know only because I track my car) but i don't see how crazy you can drive on the street to have it slip.
If you have a silicone case on one of those it makes it stick even more.
