These instructions on Google are completely ass-tarded??
http://support.google.com/mobile/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1304818
I tried following their instructions while in the camera app and there's no such option? I am on Kang's ROM but I don't think he would remove it?
I also tried it from the album app and there's no such option?
Does anyone know how to do this?
It is in Google+'s settings. On first setup you are prompted to enable instant upload and after that go to Menu -> Settings -> Enable Instant Upload

Thank you! That wasn't very clear to understand on their support site. I'm glad we have such smart members here!
Hope you have unlimited data. Instant upload can eat through your data real quick at a 1.x a picture.

You can simply set instant upload to only upload when wifi is available.

I highly recommend the "Only on wifi" option for instant upload. I take pictures throughout the day, go home, hop on wifi, and it uploads without me doing a thing.
I call that a win.
Thanks, yep I have unlimited data

Is there a way to only receive notifications from certain apps when a wifi connection is enabled? I want to save my data.

Yes, but you lose all background connectivity with the app when on cell.
Settings | Data Usage | Set mobile data limit
- You can set the limit very high if you like
Now scroll down to the apps list and for every app that you only want WiFi notification (no cell notification) tap on that app, scroll to the bottom and select 'Restrict background data'.
Now, even if you are not at your limit those apps will only connect in the background on WiFi...
Awesome, thanks!! When you say I will lose all background connectivity, what do you mean? Do you mean that I won't get notifications when WIFI isn't on? If that's the case then that's how it is currently.

That's correct - the apps that you manually select will be denied network access when you're on the cell network but will automatically be allowed when on WiFi.
So on cell they won't connect to the world and you won't get notifications...

... which isn't necessarily a bad thing, especially if you have a capped data plan. You can still refresh your data manually in most cases, such as from opening your weather app, re-opening your ScoreCenter app,...

If you use Google+, then instant upload works great. Dropbox also has its own camera upload feature. It'll upload all the pictures you currently have on your phone to your dropbox and will automatically upload new ones as you take them. Hope this helps!

Oh hmm I may have to make a drop box. Thanks

No problem!
I just use Google+ for my photo backups. I can delete them anytime I want. Plus if you ever have to reset your phone, your pics will show up in your gallery as soon as you sign in. Waay convenient.

I'd say dropbox is your best bet.
Why not just enable picasa in the gallery, or Google+? They both will automatically send your pics to the cloud. Even in real time as you take new photos.

I also suggest Google+ since it's integrated with your google account and (personal preference) I like having everything in one place. I've had some issues with dropbox sucking up network time like an bandwidth vampire.
Hi everyone. I have searched for this but could not find it anywhere so need to ask. ... I have an issue with my gallery it displays photos on my device and on Google Picasa as default. I want to change it to photos on device only and have done so in the settings but it keeps reverting back every time you leave the gallery and go back in. Does anyone know how to change it permanently so that it only displays photos on device as default?
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2
You don't go to settings to do that.
Open the gallery, press the menu key on your phone and a menu will pop up. Select something like "Select Albums" and from there on you are on your own because I don't have my phone atm.
I went through this today. You have to shut off picasa sync under your google account in the settings menu. Then go to app managment and clear data for the gallery. The picasa stuff is cached so it wont disappear. I was pulling my hair out trying to get it to go away.

I have been using Talkatone for it, but recently, I was wondering about the the native option.
I do have the TMO S3, with the wifi option enabled in my rom. I have my Google Talk and Voice both set up correctly. But when I use the phone icon to make a call, my minutes decrease. I thought by using wifi, like I do with Talkatone, I wouldn't use my contract minutes.

It uses minutes unless you select the free option on the T-Mobile website.
Log into your account and take a look.

Depends on your plan. Prepaid will get minutes deducted. Old contract plans get free minutes. Not too sure about value plan as I have never had it.

Log in to their website. On the black bar (not the one at the very top of the window, but the next one down (bigger one), select Plans and Services > Change Services. The option is called Free Wi-Fi Calling under the Extra Minutes section.

i have samsung galaxy note 4 and the voicemail app is full of random trash ads.
i was expecting this to be samsung/android officially supported apps with no ads but this looks like some trash bloatware
Yes it is. Pretty stupid. You can try and disable them in the preferences in the voicemail app settings.
If you go to your sprint profile and opt out of the ads, they will never show up again.

You can login to the Sprint site and kind of change it. Didn't exactly say it'll turn them off. Going into the voicemail app settings worked for me.

Disabling ads means you can't have features like forward to email. That sucks.

True, but I personally don't need the fowarding. But I'd rather pay for the premium than get the ads anyway
