Tagstand is awesome - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Just wanted to let everyone know how cool Tagstand is. I ordered the wrong tags from them. It was totally my fault (I should have read more closely). I called them today, and they were extremely friendly and courteous and offered to exchange the tags for me. It was overall a great experience. I am not affiliated with Tagstand in anyway, just wanted to let everyone know about this.

Since when did the Galaxy Nexus General section of XDA become a place for people to review shopping experiences for NFC tags?

edit
LOL, wrong thread.

thanks op for your review, ill check them out

Since when did the Galaxy Nexus General section of XDA become a place for people to flame others for trying to help the community? What a tool.

Im the new guy.

Good morning all.
I'm brand new to Android and similarly new to xda. I'm here to learn as much as I can, so I will ask questions if don't find my answer via search (I like the video intro). I may be new to xda, but not new to internet forums. Im posting in this section because I have this phone.
If I can help I will. I have a background in telecommunications, network security and some programming.

Thanks for the introduction "New Guy". Glad to see you on board. I'm the "Old Guy". Unfortunately I have no programming experience or dev experience, but I have extensive knowledge of Android and I try to answer everyone's question especially if I know the answer. Any questions? Lol

Welcome aboard! If you have any questions like you said that you can't find in the forum feel free to ask in the appropriate section. If you have coding experience as far as development you should definitely jump in on the DEV section to get this thing rooted. Either way hope you enjoy your stay at the wonderful XDA!
(aww yeauh, that rhymed )
Welcome! I am new to XDA and relatively new to Android. I share the same background as you, I think we're in the right place!

Sorry man but you really just gotta read around here. Poke around the threads and only start a new one if you really have a specific question that has yet to be answered. You can't just ask a broad question like "are there any issues" and expect good answers.

Best Mods, Best Themes, Best Cool New Stuff

This thread is for the community and I to share some awesome mods and everything else that some people might have missed, especially if we aren't able to keep up with the developer community since there's so much! This way it can all be in one place!

Not to be rude...but I'm curious how this will be different from the forum topics already organizing posts about mods, themes, apps, accessories, etc.?
I suspect I'd actually start to find it irritating if I had to look in this thread as well as the existing forum topics to see what's new in these areas.
Do you have some plan in mind to keep this from being redundant with these other topics?

QUESTION

Is it possible to clone a Samsung Galaxy Note 2?
Basically to swap ESN's.
I have a S3 also.
Note 2's esn is bad.
Willing to donate to someone who is willing to contribute to my problem/question.
Im under the impression that this is a topic not allowed here on XDA? I may be wrong, but I think it falls under "this is illegal" heading.
Sent from my calculator watch.
It isn't "illegal" if you turn off the phone your cloning from.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1885617
There are How to's out there. But as said above, it's not usually a topic tolerated on XDA. I think Howard forums might have some info you need. CDMA work shop will also likely be required.

First off questions go in Q&A
Second, cloning is illegal no matter how you do it and therefore cannot be discussed on XDA
I suggest you use google

[Off-topic] If you see a member of higher ranks, do you instantly have more respect?

Hey guys.
I've been thinking about this, and it got me wondering..
If you see someone with a Recognized Contributor title, Recognized Developer title, or anything else higher than 'senior member' do you find yourself having more respect for those types of people versus a senior member telling you something? This applies to questions being answered, opinions, or any other given situation. If this thread gets 'popular' I'll throw up a poll.
Also, please do us all a favor and elaborate on the reason(s) why you said yes, no, or anything of the like.
Thanks!

So long as the answer applies to the question asked, no

What do you mean by that, and why?
Also forgot to mention people should elaborate. My bad, editing the OP now..

Basically, if someone posts a question and it's answered properly I don't care if the answer came from a n00b or an RC. I'd be more inclined to accept an RC answer than a lesser rank if there was some doubt, though

I find myself looking at that a lot, actually. Especially if there are conflicting answers from different ranks.

Exactly what he said. *footnote being there are lots of senior members that if you look at their info have been members since 2007 but have very little posts and thanks. And their questions or answers very often reflect that. So I tend to look at that as well when trying to decide if I'm going to take their opinion seriously or as pertinent as someone else.

Interesting question..
Usually respect comes out of combination of their rank, number of posts and thanks.
Also when you follow particular threads like a hawk, the members worth respecting are visible on every next page.

I will say, I never look at the 'Thanks Meter'. If you need a signature with 'If I've helped, click thanks' then you're just out for the numbers...

I mostly always use xda app so ranks/posts/thanks aren't readily visible, but even when they are known I simply respect those that are respectful. On my last phones forum I lost quite a bit of respect for some of the devs actually just for their portrayed superior attitudes. If you don't like someone coming in and asking a repeat question (which I do understand can be frustrating) just ignore them, all the flaming just intensifies the problem.
I also agree about signatures asking for thanks, while I enjoy seeing my thanks meter go up it doesn't actually mean anything in the grand scheme of things. And while I'll still give a thanks if I appreciate the post, I'm less inclined too when the person asks for it.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Hell no thanks don't matter. Anyone who's ever been to OT knows that the number of thanks a member has doesn't have anything to do with how knowledgeable they are.
As far as a contributor or dev, I don't judge somebody by the color of their name, I'm not a namecist.
Anyways the majority of posts and questions are more user related, so they do not require someone with vast knowledge of coding/themeing/etc. Anyone can answer a thread like HLP BATTRY FUUUU!, not just a "higher ranked user".
Having all of the requirements and becoming recognized should grant that user immediate respect. Devs too.
Users with hella post and thanks have probably seen a thing or two so they get respect but you gotta watch some of em lol
I wouldn't "instantly" respect anyone. Respect isn't something that should be just given away, people who actually deserve it get it.
Well yeah I guess. Only higher than me is RD, RC and Moderator. Senior Member status is earned by such a small amount of posts that I think it should be raised to 1,000 posts. It should be something that takes longer to achieve.
Thanks for all of your responses guys!

i look at EVERYTHING. sig, info in the sig, posts, thanks(meaning what you were thanked for), join date and then i'll also look at past posts ... ESPECIALLY if the person is trolling. even if it wasnt intentional trolling.
there are some people tho that have 10k posts because all they post is "SEARCH" ten times or bump their friends threads all the time. and then thats why they have 100k thanks. that person i will flame til deaths end and its because they are the people that are detrimental to this community. I admit my stats arent the greatest here but mostly because i have been using forums for the past ten years and have decided I have better things in my life to pick on people that are on the internet. I am here to help people out.
thanks mbq likin this post

I don't necessarily automatically respect them, I just use the title and post count as a quick gauge of whether I should trust their opinion. That being said, I've seen a lot of people (like ben.nesheim said) that pad their post count with useless crap. There are a lot of people here that I know have high post counts that I don't trust on anything, and dread seeing their name in a thread. Then there are others that only have hundreds of posts (sometimes less) that are the most helpful and knowledgable people you'll find, they just don't post drivel. I think the title and post count are great quick indicators, but nothing more. Once you get into recognized developer or contributor territory, I give them a little more credit right off, but to me the respect still has to be earned.
And like EddyOS said, the signature tells you a LOT about a person. I make it a point not to hit the thanks button if your signature asks for it. We all know why its there, you don't need to remind me.
