Help programming my phone numbe into EVO 4G ON Virgin mobile - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'd like to start of by saying I managed to esn repair my evo 4g for virgin mobile service, with a lg optimus v as a donor phone. I'm having trouble getting the optimus to connect to cdma workshop to pull needed information. I was able to access programming menus and put in my msid, but I can't put in my number to make the calling work. Hopefully someone can help me out, Otherwise I'll have to swap the esn again for my intercept. It took me forever (literally probably 16+ hours in the past couple days) to get the esn and meid changed, so I'm hoping I don't need to do it again. At any rate, if anyone can offer me advice as to the easiest way to pull settings from my donor phone, I'm all ears. I've been reading around everywhere and information on the matter is scarce. I understand the legality issues which in my opinion are debatable (I'm not stealing service, own all the phones, and they all have clear meid's, from my understanding I'm not doing anything wrong modifying my own belongings) but the lack of information is really holding me back. Someone please get with me ASAP I'd love to get my phone going.
EDIT: I was able to put my mdn into the evo using cdma tool but it's still not making calls, I think there's more I need, but I still can't get the donor phone connected to any cdma programs.

Bump. Anyone? I've been trying to get this working for days now.

Did you try QPST or DFS? I know you said CDMA workshop but you may want to try the other two i mentioned if your having issues with CDMA workshop.

Cricket Questions

Hi all..
I have found and read the instructions as it relates to flashign a phone to cricket... I am an old GSM guy here, not too familiar with CDMA things... But Cricket is runnign a special this weekend where it is only $25 a month for unlimited talk & txt.. I think this would be great for my son as a cheap cell phone.. Here are my questions:
Would Cricket need to know that I flashed a phone from another carrier?
Do I need ot buy one of their phones in the first place?
Anyone who has done this in the past, I would value your input.... I am just a little lost here on this.. thanks
In CDMA technologies, the user account gets compared to the ESN of the phone that you are trying to use. Lets say that you programmed your phone (MIN, MDN, flashed PRL, etc). The tower will see all the settings from your account and it will look at the ESN as well, if all this information matches to what they have on the records, you will have no problem in using this phone with Cricket.
Why am I saying this? Because, you will have to let them know about the ESN of your new device. They need to add it to their database and under your account as well for you to be able to use it. I know that MetroPCS charges you ~$50 to do this, I am not certain about Cricket though. You may want to call them up and ask if you can have your Vogue flashed over to their system. I have read countless threads of people having flashed their Vogues to Cricket, so I guess it is possible.
Good luck!
Thanks for the reply...
Here is the issue (or question).. I live in a new "triband only" cricket market (Chicago/Milwaukee area).. I have read that, to work, the phone needs to use the 1700AWS frequency... I know in the "old" cricket areas you don;t need this... Will the Vogue work here? Sorry for all the questions.. I just don;t want to buy the phone and then not be able to use it...
According to the specs, the Vogue is only dual band (800 and 1900 MHz). You can see them here. If that is the case, then you might not be able to use it. Just check with them to be on the safe side. You can also look for people on the Cricket network on other forums and see if someone is using this device in the Chicago area. Good luck!
not sure about your city/are specifically but in Austin TX i was able to take a HTC Vogue (Sprint Touch) and fully flash it over. Phone, SMS, MMS, Data, Tethering, and I even found a guide for GPS (have not tried yet).
All works fine. They only issue I really have is that the DATA seems kinda crap at times. It says its at full EVDO/3G but sometimes i have to perform a manual disconnect/reconnect to jumpstart data again.
When I flash to a "non cricket" rom though I lose Tethering ability. Trying to find a guide on the settings myself so I can go back to NSFans 6.5 ROM.
Sorry for the bad news. Unfortunately there are no HTC phones available at this time that you can flash and have work in the Chicago area. That area is a AWS 1700 MHZ market and there are no CDMA HTC devices that support that technology. I would recommend that you purchase a cricket branded phone. If you are looking for a Windows phone take a look at Metro's line up. They have a Samsung that is tri band and WM powered. Also crickets new phone that is PDA like will be out tomorrow at cricKet Corp stores.

[Q] A couple of questions from a somewhat of noob.(wimax, metropcs, full guides)

First of all, I would like to thank all the members on xda who have worked on the evo for metropcs! So, after countless hours of research and trial and error I was able to get my evo flashed to metropcs. As was doing this, I ran into a couple of problems/questions that I would like someone to address(or can redirect me where I can find that information):
A. It seems to me that most solution to "flash" a phone to metropcs assume that you already have tallk and text on your phone. Why?
B. To get talk and text I had to modify the nam settings and write a metro prl using cdma. I then had to pay someone on ebay to put the esn into metros database. Would the same settings apply to most phones(evo 3d, nexus, iphone etc) ?
C. Besides ebay, does anyone know where I can add ESN's into metro's database (I tried my local stores but they didn't want to).
D. This last question is just out of curiosity: I know metro has lte and sprint wimax and that's why the evo can't get 4g. But, what if we change the WiMax settings(in particular the NAI) on a flashed phone to that of a evo that is on sprint(of course with the person's permission). Would the phone get 4g from that person account?

[Q] What is best way to get EVO to Boost

I have read several of the guides, also flashing is not new to me.
I have a Sprint EVO 4G that I need to get to Boost for my daughter.
She already has Boost, but it is a dumb phone.
So in the process they say you have to call Boost and get some kind of number is there any easier way to do this, with out calling Boost?
You don't need anything at all from Boost. However you do need a CDMA account. All info in the donor CDMA phone must be flashed to the EVO for it too work on Boost. Having read the guides you should have a good understanding of what is needed to be done.
CDMA Workshop will get the needed number (MSL or SPC code).
You can also download an app on the Market that will get it for you.
Ahh perfect, well I do not have a donor CDMA phone.
I have the WIMAX number
MEID HEX number
MEID DEC number
Can I proceed with this?
You can get phone and text working, possibly 2g, but 3d. You need a donors passwords for 3g. You can probably get a donor for $30 or less.
I bought one on Ebay Pre set for Boost
If you don't own a phone and u were gonna buy a evo there some on ebay pre set up for boost they will even come activated

HTC Evo 4g on Tracphone network - flashing etc

Hi everyone! This is my first post, hopefully I don't get canned too fast. Here's my situation - I have an Evo 4G that I had with Sprint. I no longer have the service, but still use the phone's wifi for internet and of course I also use the music application. I recently signed up for some weird government free phone thing with tracphone. I have a POS tracphone with 250 free mins every month. Instead of carrying 2 phones with me everywhere, I want to flash/enable the Evo 4G to be on the tracphone network. I basically want to use the serial number and phone number from the tracphone on my Evo 4G. And it seems like it's possible. As I'm brand new to this, my first thing was to download the "evo flashing tools.rar" file. I haven't opened it yet and have NO idea what I'm getting myself into.
Please note, I am NOT trying to get the Evo 4G's 3G/4G network speed going...I will be content with being on a crap network, the crap network that Tracphone uses. I will only be using web features etc while connected to a wireless network. I just want to be able to make calls and send texts from this Evo 4G while being on the tracphone network.
Any and all help is appreciated! As I'm a noob I'm sure there's many links and tutorials I need to know about, so if anyone is kind enough to help me out on this I would be so thankful! I'm sick of carrying around 2 phones!
okay I downloaded the main rar, and I'm reading through the "evo 4g tut" PDF. It seems like they assume thedonor phone can be plugged into the computer...but of course my donor phone is a $10 piece of crap that does not connect to the computer in any way whatsoever.
The tutorial is saying I need to get the ESN and MEID, HA, AAA, 1192 and 1194. How could I possibly get that information out of this phone? It's literally a $10 tracphone that doesn't have the capability to connect to a computer. What do I do now? Is this even possible?
Did you look under the battery?
For just talk and text to work, you need meid, mdn, and msid from donor. You will probably have to change PRL too. Does the tracphone take a sim card? If so, it is not possible to do what you are wanting to do. If you need a little more help or info, shoot me a pm

thanks!
Ok wait I just popped open the Tracphone and yes it does have a SIM card. Couldn't I just pop the sim from this and put it in the Evo 4G? All I want is talk and text.
But seriously? If it has a SIM card there's no way to use the Tracphone service on my Evo?
I found the IMEI.
Shouldn't I be in business?
How could I get the info I need from the Tracphone without it having the capability to connect to a computer?
There's an almost identical thread/method here but involving using the Evo 4G with Virgin Mobile. This has to be possible. Right?
It's not possible to get your CDMA Evo 4g on a GSM network. You're out of luck.
Does your evo have a sim card slot?

[Q] Note 2 from Sprint to Verizon, basic questions

I got a galaxy note 2 with Sprint on it, and plan to switch over to Verizon wireless (I use one of those 3rd party companies that use Verizon lines) and I heard they don't like unlocked phones. I have a few basic questions, please note my phone doesn't have a SIM card. I like Sprint, but their coverage is more city based, and the problem there is I don't live in a city, and big red has got us covered under 4G LTE.
Will I be able to pick up a Verizon LTE service, I remember there was some sort of error with my older S3 and it roamed on a Verizon 4G network, i'd assume my Sprint note 2 can do the same, and is capable of picking up that signal.
Also, will the company be able to know I have an unlocked phone? Or will it assign me a new MEID with Verizon when I select that option, (Yes I know how to unlock, real simple process) And when I go to type in the MEID/ESN for activation, will it recognize it is on an unlocked phone, if so how do I fix that without doing anything illegal (Like changing the MEID, which is very complex, and illegal)
And will I be able to keep my current MEID I have on Sprint, if I select Sprint under the network options.
If you are confused on my wording, i'll be glad to help you out. Also if you know anything about the HTC One M7, will I be able to switch that over too, and would I also need a Verizon SIM.
Thanks for the help, I am not an expert so try not to be too complex, I also perfer to avoid CDMA tool if possible, I dread that software at times.
If there's also a way if 4G won't work to trick it into thinking I have a 3G only devise under Verizon that would be cool too. I don't expect this to even be possible without a dreadful process.
Bump, not sure if you are supposed to do this.
