How to install widgets like mail, sms text messages and calendar when using a custom (stripped down) rom?

Contact icons are not being displayed in the htc messaging app, though it works fine otherwise and the icons show in the people app. My rom is skyraider sense 3.3.2, but the people, gallery, and messaging are the stock htc ones (as are most of the apps.) Anyone know why this would be? Thanks.

I'm using OxygeN 2 RC5 (Gingerbread) on my HTC Desire. I like the default Android UI, but I would like to see these functions in it's lockscreen:
when default player is running, I want to be able to control it from the lockscreen
when I've got an unread SMS or a missed call, I'd like to see a slider(just like the "unlock" or "mute" one) that will open the unread SMS or the missed call
Is this possible?

I wanted to ask in case I will decide to install CM12 on my LG G3, how the basic things will work?
How do I send regular messages? Because in CM I will not have the regular messaging application that I have in the stock ROM, no?
And about the clock widget and weather? What are all the peoples that using CM which applications and widgets their using for weather, clock and messaging?
And if I install CM, all my data on my phone will be erased?
