[Q] Fastest Sense Rom - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As of right now what is currently the fastest/smoothest Sense rom that is still being supported by the dev? Any comments are appreciated

As far as still supported you might be hard to find consitency...
My opinions would be for:
TeeROM 3.0 - developers "final" version
Stock+ 3.01 - Not getting active dev but its by far one of the best Sense roms.
McSense 2.6 - Another solid but non-dev rom
Edit: The likelyhood of finding a sense rom 2.1 or higher that is fast on the incredible is very unlikely. Way to resource needy.

My port of MikG is snappy and trouble free. Of course I could be a little biased. Lol. But seriously. It is the best Sense 2.1 + ROM as far as stability and speed. That's why I ported over the newest version for us. Try it at theMikMik. MikG Incredible forum. I think you'll be pleased.
Sent from my HTC Droid Incredible

I'd say any of the Sense 1.0 roms should be fine. If you want one without bloat, or many tweaks, Liberation 3.0 would fit the bill. It's been tested for stability. It is the final version though.
McSense is also a good choice for some theming and tweaks.
I just avoid any rom based off of another phone (port). Including Sense 3.0+
Personally I run a custom cm7 kang that I've stripped down and removed everything I deemed unnecessary. Turned off animations, use Launcher Pro, and it flies faster than any Sense rom.

I would have to go with mikg man, this thing flys !

What parts of sense are you wanting intact? If you're simply looking to stay away from AOSP, my experience with Insensitive Minimalist has been excellent. Very fast and designed to be highly customizable. I like it so much for its stability and compatibility I keep flashing back to my backup of that while I wait on issues to get hammered out of ICS. My other dinc is running Stock+, so if you want a ROM that is mostly stock, its also good. Inc Ultimate looks like its worth a try, but I haven't gotten around to it.
Ultimately, "still in development" is something I don't think applies to any sense Rom at the moment, as most of the really active devs seem to have moved on to other devices.

I flashed MikG and so far I'm loving it How is it with Gingertiny kernel?

I haven't tried them all, but have tried a few of the Sense 3.5 roms - and of course my stock Sense 2 roms - Virtuous Unity, Sense...quite slow and laggy.
Also tried BeatMod Bliss Sense - again same story...slow, laggy.
But just switched from G-Lite 2 (non sense rom( to MikRoms MikRunny 1.0 and for a Sense 3.5 based rom it's FAST. Faster than my original slow Gingerbread ROM, actually!
Add Supercharger script and a SDcard partition and you're flying ;-)
Oh I have a Desire Z, so RAM/speed is a real issue. So impressive that a ROM could run anything about Sense 2 at anything but prehistoric speeds :-D

[Q] What is the best daily driver ROM as of 2/12/11?

Okay, so I know there have been similar threads out there, but none of them have been very recent. The Incredible Rom world has been getting a lot of dev support lately with roms being ported from other devices and people simply getting bored and coming over to the incredible.
I'm not new to hacking, flashing ROM's, kernels and etc--though this is my first post here, I've been lurking around for a couple of months now. I've tried Virtuous, Redemption, MIUI, Warm, CyanogenMod and several different kernels. I've found MIUI to be the most polished with the most features and support, Warm was the fastest when I used lou's kernel #8, Redemption came in 2nd with speed, and CyanogenMod was okay--but I probably wont go back. MIUI is my current daily driver, but I will soon be checking out Incredibly Re-Egineered and Liquid Metal--both of which I've heard were excellent daily drivers.
There is no way the average ROM user can really go through every ROM and find the best--but they don't have. With our large community, at least one of us has tried each ROM. So tell me, what ROM's have you used? Which ROM is currently your favorite daily driver and why?
Well if you prefer aosp then CM 6.1 stable (or the CM7 Nightlies which are stable and amazing.) Or CVPS Ruby 2.0.2 which is an excellent source build. If you prefer Sense the I would recommend Redemptionrom 2.3 (2.4 is on the horizon )or SkyRaider both are stable and well supported by their developers and the community. All the above have a good amount of options from kernels to mods/themes. I personally use CM, I have since the G1 oh so very long ago lol. So if you havent given GB CM7 a spin you should check it out with the new 2.6.37 kernel by slayher. I saw you like MIUI...though there's active support Im just not a fan of the apple esque ui...just preference i guess. Hope that helps.
Cheers

The question is whether you want a Sense ROM or AOSP ROM. I prefer Sense ROMs and am currently running Uber Z ROM, which is a port of the new Sense UI. However if you want an AOSP ROM that is still true to Android I would go with CM, but MIUI is a different beast entirely. It's all about personal preference though.
As far as kernels go I also prefer Lou's, but I have had solid performance with #9. However kernels are more specific to the hardware of your phone so just go with what works best for you.
Ive been using incredibly re engineered for a bit aswell as senseless revolution and i love both of them. Theyre great daily drivers and very fast

Try out OMFGB. I've been on it since mid-january.

There are many choices. I look for the dev support and the community using it. If the thread if full of jerk comments, I pass. That being said...
Redemption, Redemptive, Inc-Re-engineered and Magnolia have great support and are customizable. I have had little to no issues with any of these.
There are some great Z-Roms out there as well. I was having issues with the exchange mail interface that was a deal breaker for me. I could not access the Corporate email list with it.
Tried out some new roms.
Great information guys. I personally prefer Sense, however don't mind AOSP roms much either. If it's feature rich, has good dev support, and not overly difficult to use--I can go either way (I just believe sense has a better backbone to work off.)
I think I'm going to try OMFGB and the Uber Z Rom next. I actually went ahead and tried Liquid Metal and Incredibly Re-engineered on today. Liquid Metal was very unique, and though it had some excellent features, it was a little too unique and complicated to navigate around--I just found the UI quite strange.
However, Incredibly Re-engineered I feel is just excellent. It's a lot like Warm 2.2, which I liked quite a bit, and I found it to have much fewer bugs--if any. It may be my new favorite (I personally didn't like the MIUI IPhone feel myself).
Please keep them coming guys.
I think ive tried ever rom. I love cm7 and with weather toggle widgets it looks like sense. Support is awesome! I enjoy the z roms although they dont enjoy me. The mytouch 4g rom was the fastest ive ever seen, but its got a few issues. Just remember, all roms have their own little quirks, its all about what you can live with. Personally for me and what i use, cm7 is the most stable rom ive ever used. All the roms are great, i take my hat off to the devs, i wish i had their talent.

I find myself always coming back to SkyRaider Sense 3.5 with HeyItsLou's #7 kernel... a very stable combo on my phone. I have run pretty much all of the roms on the first 2 pages of the Dev thread and have much love and thanks to all of the developers for taking time to let the rest of us enjoy the fruits of their labors
Sent from a pay phone.
I've tried a few ROMs and kernels and I've always gravitated back to Hey It's Lou Redemptive Revolution latest ROM and #9 kernel.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
Currently, I use CM6 for the DInc. Until an official stable release of CM7 comes out I'll probably stick with this (mainly b/c I'm lazy). It has a very nice feature set and it seems to be okay on my battery, I can last through the day and it is fine. I used to run a ROM with one of the kernels that focused on battery life. While I got amazing battery life (relatively speaking, as far as that goes for the DInc) sometimes the phone would seem sluggish. So while CM6 isn't the fastest, I think it's a nice compromise.
-shrugs- my two cents
Other than triple Facebook Birthday events in my calendar, Virtuous 3.2.0 still does the trick here.
SenseUI. Virtually completely stock, with all of the normal Root Access goodies, and 100% stable.
Cyanogenmod 6.1 worked great for me. I also had no problem with the nightly (#35). Both using stock cyanogenmod kernels. Ultimate Droid 3.0 just came out and it seems to work great as well.
I personally have been using Embrace Miui (a slightly stripped down , much more polished version than original build) with invisiblek #28 kernel and have had no problems and great battery life.
So basically my suggestion would be embrace (if you like miui), Cyanogenmod 6.1 (if you want froyo) or UD 3.0 (if you want gingerbread). If you want an aftermarket kernel, I suggest invisiblek (for froyo builds).
+1 for HeyItsLou's Redemtive rEVOlution rom, Skyraider is great too, althought i haven't had one on since 2.5. Every Gingerbread rom I've tried has gps issues with my phone. Until I can find a good Gingy rom, rEVO rom is what I'm stickin with.
Athena 1.2 and Myn. Great roms.
Incredibly Re-engineered
I have tried most of the roms on xda and just flashed Incredibly Re-Engineered for the first time when the newest version (2.3) came out about a week ago. I have been running it for the entire week now with not a single problem whatsoever. It is lightning fast and has a stock feel to the UI which is what I like. Also, the developer seems great and appears to help literally in anyway he can to fulfill peoples requests for custom made features. I will be sticking with this rom probably as my permanent, of course besides taking new ones for test drives as they come out. Just my 2 cents...
Athena... STABLE, snappy, long battery life, nice customization options and sense(less).
Been waiting for a ROM like this since I got my Dinc.

Rom selection help, please.

There is entirely too much info available... I want a stable sense gingerbread rom for my incredible. A working camera is a must. Does such a beast exist? Links would be great. Thanks.
Sent from my HTC Incredible using XDA App
Such a beast does not exist YET. So far we've got a half working port of Incredible S which I believe is 2.3. I would really like to see it perfected. Until then the best sense ROM would be a Desire Z port, those are frigging fast.
EDIT: The Inc. S isn't GB, the Huashen or w/e is GB.
Sent from God, who uses CM7 RC1.
Though I do not have links handy, I will also put this information out there for you. At this time, there are 3 main gingerbread ROMs for Incredible, Cyanogenmod 7 (RC1 is out as well as nightlies), Evervolv (very slow updates), and OMFGB (kicked off this site). Currently, Cyanogenmod is the most stable and for me, the fastest. One thing the camera is missing though is 720p. This will likely be the case until we have a sense gingerbread build like you are talking about. The mentioned Incredible S port is still 2.2 based but has the new 2.5 senseui. The only gingerbread sense build out period right now is the one leaked for the Huashan (spelling?) but that has yet to be ported to Incredible yet.
Both CM7 and OMFGB have "working" cameras, but maybe not to the extent that you would want them.. it's still a work in progress.
I suggest going with chingys incrediblely re -engineered Rom.. very stable very fast with lous kernels

New Incredible Owner :) - Have some Questions

Hi,
I'm coming from owning a Droid Eris. I had it rooted and know a decent deal about ROMs, etc.
First, what is the best way to root the Dinc? I used the one-click app on the Eris.
And what ROM would you recommend? I'm looking for a stable and fast ROM that has Sense.
Thank You
One of the quickest, most stable and clean sense ROM's would be
- Sky Raider's 3.5:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=764787
An excellent Kernel that majorly helped improve my battery life
- Chad's Incredikernel :
http://chad0989.dyndns.org/2.6.32.27-incredikernel-12232010-plus25v.zip
You will need clockwork installed to create nandroid backups and also to flash new ROM's and Kernels, and additionally rooting your phone can be found below:
http://unrevoked.com/#inc
>> Everyone has their preference and I highly respect every developer on here, but there was just a few things in Lou's Kernel that bugged me.
I'm sure you will try a few ROM's before sticking with one, the above are just my suggestions. When running Chad's kernel, do not use setCPU or anything like it because it already has (a better) one built in that helps extend battery life with screen off, and performance/battery with screen on
Unrevoked.com to root.
IncRom for mostly stock sense ROM w/ some aesthetic touches - it's fast, stable, insane battery life.
IncrediblyReEngineered for a 'tricked out' very fast sense rom - stable and good battery life.
Thanks for the advice! That definitely helps.
I'm really liking the Incredibly Re-Engineered ROM because it seems fast, has Sense plus some tweaks and themes, and the dev does a good job updating it.
Just 2 questions:
1. It is based on the Evo framework. Is this okay? Is it still stable? I'm still kinda confused as to why I'd want to run a ROM built on the framework of another phone.
2. Is this ROM stable and pretty much bug free?
Thanks!!
Yup its perfectly fine. I also would recommend checking out the Redemptionrom and redemptive revolution rom. Both are very nice. There's so many good choices for the dinc.

Yes the EVO is very similar (in some cases identical) to the incredible.
Some say the EVO framework works better than stock, so that's why you see a couple of ROM's using it.
Go with Incubus's WarmZ......"F"ing AWESOME!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901822
Dinc Roms vs EVO/Z Roms
The differences are minimal, and in most cases never noticed. One thing that always bugged me about Incredible Re-Engineered along with other roms with the same framework (can't remember which it is) is that MMS/SMS doesn't work with wifi enabled. Which personally is a problem as my house has poor 3g connections. If your looking for a stable Rom with active community Virtuous, Sky Raider and Magnolia are all amazing Roms and communities with very responsive devs.
Incredibly Re-engineered is purely EVO framework. I'm a huge fan of Incredibly Re-engineered, specifically 2.3.1. Not so hot about 2.3.2. I had quirky problems with it. It comes with Lou's #8 which works flawlessly, but I've been most happy with the Hydra kernel that comes overclocked to 1.153GHz, and undervolted on lower voltages using an on-demand gov. I tried a number of ziggy's but the last stable release had dreadful wake-up speeds. I had stability issues with the Incredikernel.
I tried out Incredibly Re-engineered Z 1.01 and felt luke-warm about it. It's loaded with apps I had no want of and came with Chad's 12/23 which works well, can be overclocked easily, but isn't. When I applied any of the rock-solid Hydra Kernels to it, I.R Z took a dump in several ways in a huge hurry.
A big plus to me with straight Incredibly Re-engineered is the massive number of mods Chingy has for it. If your big on widgets, the 4x5 themes gives you 20% more desktop that you won't want to give up once you get used to it.

MISfit211 gingerbread rom just released. I personaly think its one of the best.
another vote for cm7. really makes your phone feel like new.
Many of the sense ROMs use aamikam's base, so any one of those, or his MikFroyo ROM if you want sense. Myn's Warm and Calk's EViO are good too for sense. If you want to try Sense 2.0, I recommend Warm Z, it's my favorite of those. For something different, between Sense and AOSP, try VaelPak.
For AOSP ROMs, I'd try CM7 first, if you like that, maybe branch off and start using some of the CM7 variants or the other GB ROMs like Savaged-Zen and Salvage-Mod.
Up to you as far as what you like, most of the ROMs on here will work.
I'm not a big fan of Miui, but some people swear by it. Worth a shot.
These Are My Favorite Roms. The Ones with the Asterisk Are my Favorites
Best Sense 1.0 Froyo Roms:
Koni's Elite*
Myns Warm TwoPointTwo

i wouldn't if i were you. i'm pretty sure it's out of date. cm has plenty of theme options anyways, both flashable and theme manager. just flash cm7 stable.
do you mind linking me to the rom you wanted to try? cm7-ex???
I vote CM7! Period.
yea just looked up cm7 ex v10 waaaayy out of date. do not use that.
here is the link to the rom
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/install-custom-cm7-ex-gingerbread-rom-on-htc-evo-4g/
i typed cm7 rom on evo 4g and it poped up first
do you have a link to the rom download your talking about
If you want to flash EX, it's def not up to date. A similar ROM is Destroyer (now on v2). Destroyer was Magnus' next version after EX. I would def go with that, although even v2 is out of date, but much newer than EX.
i def want the newest i'd prefer the one with everything working also
just doing it from rom manager

For future reference.
I'm personally a fan of Sense, so I went with Fresh by Flipz. 3.5.0.1 is the last fully functional release, but 4.0 beta just came out the other day (for donors only), so full 4.0 can't be far behind. The exciting thing about 4.0: Gingerbread!
I've noticed Fresh improves battery life (not by a whole hell of a lot, but as Evo owners, we take what we can get). It also comes with Darktremor apps2sd, which is nice. Flipz included the Sprint "bloatware" in a folder on the sdcard to install as you wish. I use SprintTV and I like Teeter, but don't have any use for Stocks or the NASCAR app, so it's nice to pick & choose.
Anyhow, in my opinion, the first thing you need to decide is, Do you like Sense or not? If so, my suggestion is obvious. If you don't care for Sense, or just plain don't care, CM is a good way to go. I had an old version of CM flashed a while back, but it just wasn't for me. That's the beauty of custom ROMs, though. Don't like it? You're free to try something else. :+)
(and, for God's sake, do a full backup before you go switching ROMs! Don't want to lose any of your stuffs!)
Hope this helps. Enjoy!
I prefer Decks Gingerbread RC10. Fantastic battery life and super quick.

The best and most stable rom

I just rooted the EVO with 2.3.3 now I'm trying to get opinions on the best and most stable roms available
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Personal preference. I would say try out the ones you are interested in for about a week. Then go back to the one you liked the best. Or just use one till you find a glaring issue with then switch. I personally tried like 4-5 different roms they all seem better than the stock rom but I like CM 7 the best.
If you like AOSP (vanilla android), then Cyanogenmod 7 is pretty cool. It's one of the few AOSP ROMs with WiMAX working and HDMI mirroring.
If you like Sense, check out Synergy or Kinged Shooter. Both of those ROMs are pretty sweet. Synergy is a mix between Sense 2.1 and Sense 3.0, and shooter is a pure sense 3.0 ROM (Evo 3D port to be exact).
As already stated though, only you know which ROM is the best, just go out there and find ROMs you might like, back up your stock ROM, then start flashing!
Most stable? probably the stock rom
I'll join the bandwagon by suggesting CyanogenMod. It's a beautiful piece of work, it has a great set of features (you can move ANY app to the SD card! you can refuse apps' access to specific permissions! you get a free wifi hotspot!), it's amazingly stable, and it's FAST (faster than the stock Sense ROM).
Definitely go with MIUI. It is stable and takes up only 80 MB on your device memory.
I can't vouch for very many roms, and the stock one is definitely the most stable, but I have used cm6 and 7, damagecontrol and damageless, and decks.
The damageless rom with a netarchy cfs nohavs kernel was just as stable as the stock unrooted. And much snappier, as you can freeze sense and use jit. Ill probably go back to it but right now I'm using decks. 1.13b2, and its... just... so... fast...
I was a big user of the camera so I miss the sense camera, and 1.13b can be a little shaky at times but 1.12 was probably the best for general fast task switching use. I'm falling for aosp harder each day
