GSM GNex Battery life on continuous use - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

This is with full brightness, GPS, wifi, and sync on. Multitasking between several apps ( navigation, youtube, maps, browser, games, cf benchmark, and about 3 hours of video playback half with audio half without). As as you can see the screen was on the entire time and was in use.

Here,
You can read this:

Someone made an experiment to know what could be the max screen on time.
Which are:
Maximum Brightness White Image: 5h00m
Maximum Brightness Black Image: 10h52m
Minimum Brightness White Image: 10h20m
Minimum Brightness Black Image: 10h47m

Great experiments
But with standby time included,I get close to 4h hours screen time
Which is better than my prior two android phones

Yep saw this thread ..I was curious on measuring the battery life though through continuous use of everyday tasks. No 1 actually sets a white background and just stares at it all day. (Not to trump the value of that experiment).

4+ hours is what I'm getting. I've hit 5 hours before. And this is with 20+ hours of total battery life. I unplug my phone in the morning and plug it in when I'm sleeping.

I am using the ROM and am having similar issue. Display kills my battery.. But it has been the same on DI18, EB13, EC05 and SyndicateROM.. Also battery usage menu is horrible. I never see more than whats displayed in the photo. Never have I seen any of the apps I use appear. Not even gmail. Any good usage apps out there?

Bizarre Battery Log

What is up with my battery readings. My phone is always making bizarre jumps like this. Notice the two vertical changes.

There are actually 3. One drop which is not accompanied by the charging and 2 increases one of them severe.
Its actually the initial drop that makes it bizarre. The battery isn't that old or that worn so corrections to read capacity shouldn't be severe. Discrepancies while charging can be explained a little easier. All depends on the battery controllers methods of reading while charging and how the OS samples the data from that. As i say its the drop that confuses me.
I would definitely say a calibration is in order before further investigation unless some knowledge is out there.
I've also noticed battery drops like that for me where it drops about 30% and was caused by random reboots from flashing new roms.

thought this was worth a plug here.
as if my rom didn't have max brightness tweaked already..
if your brightness isn't low enough on those latenight face in your phone sessions..
saves my eyes, and without any official testing, i would have to say that it dramatically increases battery drainage for a heavy user like me.
with that said, i got this thing on at all times ..
+1
Try Screen Filter. Same thing. Free. Should save battery on an OLED screen.

Both of you should try RootDim. It uses super user rights to take brightness below android defaults.
As a new user I can't link to it.

If your looking for applications to see if apps are taking cpu cycles there is an android info app in the market that can show you all processes and cpu cycles...looking for something that stays near the top and thats probably the issue. Also make sure that you have google now disabled, NFC, and geolocation if you dont check in everywhere. These are built in "very nice" features but they constantly pull your phone out of deep sleep on the move...and god knows we all want 2 hours screen time :highfive:

Deep Sleep

Using system monitor, it shows very low time spent in deep sleep, does this happen to anyone else?

While my Note 3 uses almost no battery with its screen off, 3G/Wifi on, my 2014 Note 10.1 is not so battery friendly (screen off). It wouldn't amaze me if Samsung hasn't optimized the Kernel/ROM as well as they did on the Note 3 yet. It is another chipset (Exynos vs Snapdragon) so much of this difference could lie there.
