i have a wfs, i have got the unlock zip file from htc dev but when i try to flash it to my phone it just sits there sending.
any help would be appreciated
there is no unlock.zip involved in the steps of unlocking bootloader.
please READ the instructions on htcdev carefully and follow each step. if you are new to it all, please read twice before you do anything.
an overview of the process is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1432199
edit: you should also describe errors more detailed. "sits there sending" is no description anyone else than you would understand.

Hi guys, I'm trying to unlock bootloader on htcdev but theres no right RUU, my cellphone have 2.42.405.4 but on htcdev is 2.42.405.2 so I can't flash RUU and unlock bootloader.
I know there are several tutorial how to unlock but it's not work..
For example I've tryied to unlock by this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261
But after command "adb shell /data/local/tmp/psneuter" I'm getting "Failed to set prot mask (Inappropriate ioctl for device)"
Does anybody know how to fix that?
This would be a better approach http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_G2
And if you scroll down a little you can select to downgrade for a specific phone/firmware. Also don't use the HTCDev method to unlock, that's kind of the crummy route when you got a much better one on the XDA site with full S-OFF/etc.
PS: No where in the guide you link does it say to do "adb shell /data/local/tmp/psneuter" , there's a few instances of pushing the file to data/local/tmp and then later using it once inside of adb shell. So It's pretty clear you need to do some more detailed reading, but start with the link above, not that guide, and don't use HTCDev.
It's written on step 4..I've saw that guide rewritten in my language and there were written to do that too so I think I've read correctly.
HTCdev method is easiest and I don't have to to read long tutorial in english.
But if you know some easy "step by step" guide to unlock and root let me know.

The problem is you'll have to do it the long way since your firmware is newer and as a result, if you go down that path it'll be pointless to use the HTCDev method.
I don't know what language you use natively so can't help you there.
I've mean that you can let me know about tutorial in english...
I'm too lazy to read long tutorials cause it is not my own phone and I don't need it necessary.

Then don't bother, give it back to them and have them do it, least they'd put more effort into it.

what is your phones bootloader status say ? Locked or Re-locked ? Whatever it may be, once you receive the unlock_code.bin of your own mobile (not others), you might want to open the command prompt from the adb fastboot folder, then type the following command (hopefully you might have done right, but just incase if you miss one letter or jumble it, it wont work)
fastboot flash unlock token Unlock_code.bin
It is case sensitive. so type carefully or try to paste it from here. This should unlock your phone. If still not, then the unlock_code.bin you got might have issues. So register on htcdev again with different email id, and use that.
All the best. Hit thanks if this post deserves it.
I know there are lot of posts explaining how to do it. But I really can't do it. I follow every single step but my HTC won't get rooted.
Is there anyone who can help me with this issue? It will take just a few minutes, I promise. I would be really thankful.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english

As the title says, I'm trying to root my HTC One X. I currently am on 4.0.4 Android version, 4.0 HTC Sense version, and software number is 2.20.502.7 710RD. I found a video tutorial with this exact software and phone and I followed all of the steps. I figured out how to install adb and fastboot so I could use fastboot commands. I changed my CID to 11111111 and got my HTC dev code. However when I go to type in the command: fastboot flash unlock Unlock_code.bin I keep getting the same error message. The error message is (Boootloader) FAILED (signature verify fail). In the tutorial this did not happen so I don't really know what to do at this point. If someone could please help that would be much appreciated.
Hello
Are you sure you have the correct unlock code?
Did you copy it correctly?
Did you place the unlock code in the fastboot folder on your PC before executing the command?
Try a different cable and/or USB port. Dont connect via a HUB
Why did you need to change the CID?
Have a look at http://onexroot.com/one-x-root/how-to-root-one-x/
Dont change to S-OFF in case you do something wrong, this will save you by keeping S-ON

Yes I copied the unlock token correctly and everything. I have not tried different USB ports. I needed to change the CID because on the One X the CID needs to be 11111111 in order to root. I haven't changed to S-OFF yet. Any other help?
The One X does not need to be 11111111 to root.
I really believe that your bootloader is still locked. Please double check and make sure the unlock code was copied exactly as per the procedure in the link i sent. Even the slightest mistake in copying will cause a fail
In fastboot mode, what does it say at the top of the screen
Also try fastboot oem unlock

I copied the code down correctly undoubtedly, at the top it says
*** TAMPERED***
*** LOCKED ***
Hboot 1.14
Should my bootloader say unlocked???
Yes it should say unlocked.
What I think has happened is that you used an incorrect/incomplete unlock code to unlock the bootloader. Hence the word TAMPERED. Perhaps even changing your CID also didn't help. Not sure.
You said you followed a video? send link of method you used
What was your original CID?
Try unlocking bootloader again. In post #2 there is a link to a tutorial. Follow this exactly.
Also double check in fastboot mode to see it it says S-OFF. To change your CID i am sure you must have changed to S-OFF?
Unlocking boot loader does not root the phone. It's just the first step
Also (but not a problem) you have an old bootloader. 1.14. That will need to be updated if you want to flash custom ROMS

I can't post a link here but if you google "how to root htc one 2.20" it should be the first one and it is by max lee. I don't have S-OFF because I used a one click method to change my CID and to get the code.
Do you an AT&T phone?
I hope so. This method is for an AT&T HTC One X

Yes I have that exact one
Then i can only suggest that you copied the token incorrectly.
Watch the tutorial again and then try it again

You want to unlock your bootloader or sim unlock ? Be more specific please. S-OFF I needed to flash firmware, radio and some audio mods. Maybe u can do it here http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/ or to ask the owner to send you unlock_token file.

You're a bit confused. Based on your other posts, I don't think anyone really told you that you "need s-off to unlock the bootloader" ( as that statement is not completely true - so hold on and I'll explain why). Rather, you are incorrectly trying the following method to unlock the bootloader, and this particular method requires s-off:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708571
The method above clearly requires s-off. This is an absolute truism, and no amount of trying it over and over is going to work. However, this is not the only method to unlock the bootloader.
You've already been advised, that you can unlock the bootloader s-on using the HTCDev.com unlock process. Again, this works perfectly fine when s-on. If you need further guidance, the following thread includes very good instructions.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/general/vomerguides-m8-bootldr-unlock-s-off-t2800727
But note that the guide is quite a bit outdated. The portion about unlocking the bootloader is still relevant, and therefore still a really good guide. But once you get past that point, you will need to note the following:
a) When you go to install TWRP custom recovery, you should install the current version 3.1 from here (don't use the TWRP version linked in the guide - it's outdated and will cause problems.
b) If you intend to root the current ROM, you will want to use the current stable version 2.79 (link in the guide automatically goes to the latest stable SuperSU version, so you are okay there.\
c) The remainder of the guide (S-off, SuperCID) isn't necessary for most purposes, such as root, custom ROMs, etc. But it should be noted that the s-off method referenced (firewater) not longer works, and not amount of trying will make it work (sunshine is the only valid s-off method, and costs $25 US).
If you have any other issues or questions about the process, post the specific questions to this thread, and folks will be happy to try to help.
