Gap on right between glass & bezel

I’ll post some pics later, but wondering if anyone else has a gap between the glass and bezel on the right side of the phone? The left side seems pretty flush with the glass.

Mines like that too. I thought it was normal. I was worried about crud getting in the crack but its been fine and doesn't affect anything on the phone.
I just tried to take a macro shot of it and had no luck. Wonder if I should swap it out. Really don't want to get stuck with one that actually has an issue.

i'm more worried about dust under the glass. having that gap, i'm sure it will

Closer inspection shows there is some dust in there but not a lot at all. I have 8 days to decide on swapping it. Don't know how many returns wirefly allows.

Where did you get your phone from? Would they swap it out for that.

Mine does not have that issue.
To be fair, there is a tiny (I mean really tiny) gap on both sides but nothing that looks out of place. It appears it's by design.
Yours appears to be much worse.

I pulled my case off just to check and i have a very noticeable gap on the left and bottom sides of my screen. Its not enough of a reason for me to exchange it but its there. I always have the body glove case on so i dont ever see it

I believe that these small gaps are by design, seriously. Think about the dispersion of shock when the device hits the ground. If it was perfectly flush with the
metal it would be way more likely to crack instantly..with the gap some energy escapes giving the glass a small but crucial release of pressure.

Mine looks like his but I only see the glue they use or whatever they use to seal the screen.

Yeah. The left side has a really small gap but the right is pretty big. Its big enough i can stick my fingernail in it.

Seems to he pretty common. I personally dont have the issue or any issues build wise on my current phone. Its risky because I think I can only exchange one time.

Yeah. That's what I'm worried about. Going in to exchange it tomorrow morning and gonna check the hell out of the phone before I leave the store.
I noticed it more today when I got my TPU case and the right side would get caught up on the gap.
Better pics of the gap. one of the left with the smallest gap and one of the right like grand canyon (ok...may not as big, but close )

Question for white E4GT owners

How easy does the silver paint chip/wear off? I was thinking about going white over black, but didn't know if the white will start looking worn faster.

I just got my white e4gt 2 weeks ago so I can't really comment on how the paint will hold up but it seems like it will be just fine. I do know I like the look a whole lot better then my black one and the smooth back feels nicer too so I would definitely recommend it

Had mine for about 5 months now and doesn't show any wear yet. Still happy with it, have the Best Buy Black Tie program and haven't used it once!

The paint does not chip off...I have a case though... using for over 5 months

I just picked up a used one. It has chips in the silver paint. Not a big deal for the price I paid. I guess if you scratch or bump it hard enough it could be an issue.

had white housing on for about 2 months now, no paint missing or chipped or anything.

I've thrown my phone of course with the ballistic case on it and not one chip
From the 2nd galaxy

I usually use the Seidio spring holster. The bottom corners of the phone sit in the holster points and I am thinking these may cause some wear.

Ive had mine for months love the look of it so i got the clear case for it and the mirror screen protector and it looks really good like that no chipping or issues yet.

Mine still looks great!

Can black, asian, latino, etc Epic Touch owners answer too? Sheesh, this seems over the top.

Picked mine up right after launch of the white version. No scratches at all.

It doesnt chip. I got mine almost a month ago and no chipping. It even still smells brand new. Lol I love this phone. :thumbup:

Epic Touch 4G...James Bond edition!!

Check out the new creation. I know a lot of people have storm trooper epics (white+black)
but this is a combination of a black screen, the silver band from a white housing, and a black back. Looks sick!!! (the back piece is the white housing. so if you take the battery door off, its actually white.

Hey, my E4GT has a couple dings on the body right next to the glass. Judging from the OP's pictures, it looks feasible to replace that part with new? My question, to anyone who may know is: Would it be worth fixing the phone before I sell it? I'm guessing, as it stands now, the phone's in "fair" condition (as Swappa.com would classify) and probably get easy $200. Now if I replaced the body the phone would be worth an EASY $250...Is this a worthwhile thing to do?

I have to agree here. I looked at the White S3, and just thought that it looked too plain. I mean yea... there's nothing special about giving a brushed aluminium look to plastic, but at least it's an added bit of depth. Didn't really want such a smexy phone to look like... uuh... another popular white phone that's not nearly as smexy.

Yea those pictures + screenshot of a listing in phone arena's database for a black s3= there's probably one coming. But not for awhile is my bet. Kinda a bummer though. I like my blue and all but black would be so much easier to match up with cases.

mix and matching the black and white commuters looks pretty sweet if you feel like buying 2 otterboxes...

been thinking about painting mine black (just the back).
buy replacement back cover, paint it, party on!

It's even worse that they're claiming that the ICON'S infringed on their patents. Going by their actual patent information in that document, and looking at the side by side's later on... wtf are they on? Well, we could easily say that the white phone on a green background is NOT at a 45-degree angle. And most of the others don't look remotely similar. I mean... thinking that Samsung's smiley in a speech box looks similar to Apple's own speech bubble? The Settings icon... what... because it has a gear in it? And WTF are they on with the photo gallery icon? NOT EVEN CLOSE!
Apple just seems to have the patent office in their pockets, as well as the judges they use for this sh*t, cause they are granted so many patents for the most ridiculous stuff it's unrealistic.

Replaced just the glass, saved the digi/lcd (With video)

Well I read a lot of places that it couldn't be done. I have successfully replaced just the glass. I recorded it on my Gopro so everyone can see how its done. If you find it useful hit the thanks Make sure you spread this around so people stop buying 300 dollar full LCD assemblies.

hey yellow, does this give us the option of changing the color of the screen then? say i wanted to go from pebble blue to black. i see the black ones available to for sale via ebay. id rather buy a $30 screen and change colors than buy a whole new phone once they become available

You can change the color of the screen. I saw a red and white hybrid posted in another section. It looked surprisingly good actually.

That sounds really good. I don't mind my surround being blue, but I do want the screen/soft keys black. I'd have to find a way to make the home button black too. Perhaps paint a white button black with black lexan body paint and swap at the same time.

That's simpler than I was expecting! I was certain there'd be a ribbon connecting the digitizer to the actual LCD. Was there such a thing? Or was it part of the buttons on the bottom?

Thats why you see a beer on the right lol. I was about a 6 pack in before I got the balls to try. I have insurance so I figure the risk was worth it.

LoL i wouldnt feel comfortable doing someone else's phone. It is possible to crack the oled.

Yes. I left my screen protector on instead of tape. But you want to keep all the tiny shards contained.

The glass is just glass. no electronics at all.

You can run a very hot shower for awhile then do it in the bathroom with the steam (Makes dust fall to the ground) or I did mine in the basement where there is like 0 dust lol.
Whew that was a lot of responses. Didnt have the thread subbed.

So these screens don't have any plugs? Or cables?
