iControlPad - Anybody familiar with this product? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Accessories

I found this while looking for a physical gamepad to play games on my gtab and phone (mostly to play gta 3, on screen buttons are just a pain to play with for this game).
So has anybody bought one to play with? I'd like to hear some experiences for it, mostly to know what games have been played with it and how it feels and functions.
http://www.icontrolpad.com/

Nobody? I thought for sure someone would have used this with the tab.

I've used it with emulators mostly, and it works great. When I first got it there was a slight problem with the d-pad where pressing left wouldn't work unless I pressed it really hard, but after doing it a few times it works perfectly now. I'm not too sure how well the analog works though, since I mostly stick to emulating earlier systems.

Icontrolpad and other controllers

I'm looking to gamify my Note as much as possible. Thanks to Coldfustion's great video series on the Note, I've got an Rii Bluetooth mini-keyboard on order.
I'm also considering getting the iControlPad, hoping that it can attach to the Note securely. I want to get my Note in the same league as the Play/Vita and other portable gaming devices.
What hardware accessories are you guys using?
I have two Phonejoy's, a ZeeMote, and use PS3 remotes with mine. Not sure how the iControlPad will go with the Note's size - I see Gametel has a similar design out now too that looks like it'll fit a wider range of handset sizes. I have a few YT vids showing these sorts of things (mostly with an SGSII, but same stuff all works with the Note too).
I have the iControlPad, but its gathering dust. Let me know of some games you want to test and I'll see if I can get it working with it, as long as I don't have to buy it.
I had the Pandora console and I can tell you its better playing classic games on it than any Android devices.
The Note is the first phone I felt its actually bearable to play using onscreen controls.
I just got my Phonejoy analogue controller today, and it's great. The only thing I don't really like about it is it isn't true to term analogue, but the feel is enough for it to be overlooked. All in all a fantastic thing.
Might I point out that while not being as small and have a bracket of sorts as the iControlPad does, it's much cheaper for a genuine controller feel.
I did see the Gametel device online a couple days ago, which in turn led me to the icontrolpad... these are more inline with what I'm looking for at first: a controller that attaches and holds the Note.
Like I said, I'm just getting into the gaming side, and I haven't yet rooted my Note. Here's some games I have that I'd like to use with an icontrolpad or gametel clamp-on type controller:
Shadowgun
Samurai II
GTA III
Asphalt 6HD
Order and Chaos
Pacman
After I root and install the emulators, I'll be checking out Zelda and several Atari games. Maybe FPSe and Final Fantasy games.
I'm also all ears for any other HD MMO's (Chaos Rings supposedly is coming to Android soon)...
P.S. ... Looking to sell your icontrolpad? I'm interested in buying, provided it holds the Note and works with most of the games above?
I picked up some PS3 controllers and they are awesome. The prices fluctuate so much on Amazon but I managed to get the kit with the controller, HDMI and USB cable for $33 but I see it is back at $60.
I wish there was a clamp to attach the note to the ps3 controller for when I am not attached to the TV. Kind of like these old controllers with lcds in them.

I can tell you that unless the game itself let you set hard keys or has inate support of hard keys then iControlPad will be useless with it. Since the iControlPad emulates the keyboard and most games relies on touch besides emulators. And not all emulators support iControlPad either, however there seems to be big support of WiiMote and PS3.
I will try some of those games when I have time.
I do notice I can connect a mouse by wire to Note and gets a mouse cursor.
I meant to reply last nite, but I got distracted with "testing" the games that might be compatible, heheh.
Turns out that most of the modern games I have don't have the option to use external controls. The emulator games, however, do, at least the Atari games I've tried so far. I will be trying out the N64 and other emulators, so those may be compatible.
My main question remains, though. Can the icontrolpad accommodate the Note?
The next question, then, is for everyone else who uses gaming accessories with the Note: are there plenty of decent games which justify using the an external controller? I know NZtech demo'd Super Mario, and Confustion demo'd a few good ones as well....
Perhaps a single gaming accessory is enough (the Rii miniBt) since it does double duty...
I have a gametel pad which i'll be reviewing in the next couple of days, it supports more games than it says it does which is nice.

Yes please do I'm debating if I should or shouldn't. Is it too small for the phone?

Hey guys, I'm a bit late to the party, but I just discovered the Onlive App that lets you play console-quality games online!
Do the various controllers mentioned in this thread (icontrolpad, gametel, phoneboy, sixaxis) work normally via this app? If so, that would be awesome...
Anyone get a chance to test the icontrolpad or gametel yet?

A bit late to the party, but I thought I would pop in to say I'm working on a 3d-printable project that does exactly that. If all goes according to plan, you should be able to order one from a 3d-printing service for $30-50 (I hope!).

Well think about that for a moment.
A screen register is just a signal sent into the mainframe, sort of like a keystroke.
I think it can be emulated.
For instance, a rooted device with a modified Bluetooth stack and adjusted settings could be made to play well. Hitting X on a DS3 controller could register as a screen tap on 1024, 360 (X, Y coordinate) ... which would trigger the "Heavy Attack" command within the Samurai Vengence II App.
In fact, a screen tap would suffice well. Most games requiring movement/pov, have a virtual D-Pad and don't require any Swiping movement... a tap in the right direction triggers your desire. Android supports multiple screen taps, so hitting multiple gamepad buttons can trigger multiple "screen taps" virtually, so no problems!
And this can be fully mapped and navigated using such exploit. So you wont miss out on anything, all Apps can theoretically be navigated easily using a gamepad.
The only problem is: requires root, compatible bluetooth device, lots of time setting up the X,Y coordinates for each different app (or an ability to download/save them as profiles).
@ekin
An app to do precisely what you describe is apparently in the works from the icontrolpad team.
That said, I'm still hesitant to order the icontrolpad as it looks like the holder may not quite fit the Note. I'm also keen to hear if anyone's successfully used it yet (the holder, not the actual pairing/functionality).

ever since i saw the gametel at CES i´ve been researching a lot
the gametel will not support the Note i´ve seen a video somewhere where they say the maximum phone size for gametel will be arout the galaxy nexus size.
The Icontrolpad seems to be better than the gametel controller´s, it supports analog buttons and it seems to have more developpment behind it (it´s an older deveice tough).
I just discovered the phonejoy which seems to be the better solution for me, i´ll probably invent/addapt some case around it so it can hold my s2, i can´t seem to find it for sale in europe though i know they ship it worldwide but i´d rather buy it here ...
can someone tell me the difference between phonejoy and the ps3 controller configuration/compatibility wise?

I use my ps3 controllers with my sixaxis program and I sit roughly 12ft away from my tv. I just have the hdmi from the phone to the tv and leave it on my ent. center. All emulators work well with sixaxis. You can connect up to 4 controllers, I only have 2 but they work fine. No problems so far.
what about regular android games with the ps3 controller

Xperia Play and FPSE functionality

I just want to know what the functionaliy is between these.
Does the gamepad work with FPSE, are there any problems.
That sort of thing.
Gamepad works, but no support for the analog touchpads (or any ETA for their inclusion).
Are there any games that really rely on them?
One game I REALLY want to play are the Final Fantasy games.
If theres no real performance hit because of no analog sticks, then its no biggie.
Tyler
PS1 games never really had analogue stick functionality, was always just a nice add on to games. IMO this is why I'm happy to have FPSE on my XPlay as anything that needs analogue stick control is just a pain in the ass. Nipples are no replacement for analog sticks
brought to you by the XDA app on my badass Android toy
How is game performance and screen quality? If you want, I also have an Xperia X10 if you want to compare.
I mean, sure the screen is smaller so I don't expect 1080p, but still how is it?
Do games also run as fast as they should? As in lag and such, when using the built in player or FPSE.
depends on the games, 95%+ run fine(fast no lag), especially if overclocked, screen is decent, i'd imagine its pretty much the exact same as the one on the x10, the only difference might be vibrancy i would think, since they sport the same resolution.
If you are actually serious about being able to play games properly on your phone, then buy the play, its honestly that simple, ...you could buy a slider keyboard for emulators, but then what about consoles with shoulder buttons, what about n64 that requires the an analog stick? what about all those fantastic games on the market that support hard keys for the play and not other slider keyboard phones?
the fact is if u want to play any games barely above the casual market, then the play is really the only good choice, for the moment at least.
As someone said earlier, FPSE doesn't support the touchpad sticks, what about other emulators for other systems, such as the N64.
i wouldnt have mentioned the n64 analog stick if we couldnt use it, mupen64 is a beta emulator that uses it, its a very effective implementation. absolutely destroys touchscreen.
Thanks for the help.

iPega Wireless Bluetooth 3.0 Game Controller

iPega Wireless Bluetooth 3.0 Game Controller came today off ebay half the price of others :victory: was going to use it with my android phone
it also works with most phones with bluetooth and came with no drivers or software to install so easy to use or it should have been with the
four modes it has icade, keyboard, mouse andjoy sticks :good: charged fine inless then 30 mins
i got this one as it holds the phone even with my phone cover on it as removing it every time i use the pad would be a pain
so ive tryed it out on mame emu and a few games and changed all the keys to the buttons on the pad .
The dpad worked fine so did the joy sticks but wont see the X A B Y buttons or the L1 R1 buttons in any of the modes also tryed it on the
games ipega list no joy :crying:
the phone see the bluetooth pad fine and see the button presses fine as well ive looked online for software to help with the pad but no joy
im sure the problem will be sorted soon by some one soon...
ive tryed it with a few of the bluetooth pad setup tools most dont see it or not setup for it yet :fingers-crossed:

An Ebay sellers says:
Note:The compatibility problem exist on the part of the game of android 4.0 System . It is recommended to use the stable version of the system.
I've an Galaxy S3 with android 4.1.1
there a video on youtube thats shows that with gametel app it should work fine in 4+ but thats probably only the dpad i assume
Hi all sorry so long to reply internet been down 11/12 but given me more time to play with the joypad and yes its money well spent and the joy stick works fine as well as the pad
Yeah got one of these myself the other day (Galaxy S3 LTE). Great for emulators, seems to work fine with MD.Emu.
Confusing problem with GTA: Vice City though.
I had the controller working fine with it then all of a sudden it's just stopped working, now just the movement keys (DPad and Analogue) working
It would be nice to have a confirmed list of working games with this controller though, out of the box.
(Set to Joystick Mode)
I have MD.Emu
Sonic 4 episode 1
Dead Trigger
All working fine.
I have been messing with Game Keyboard, an app where you can assign buttons to on screen key presses, not had much luck though it's quite frustrating!
Anyone else have experience with this app?
Could someone please elaborate on how the D-pad, L/R buttons, and A/B/X/Y buttons actually feel? How do they compare to the PSP, Xperia Play, or JXD S602 controls?
I'm also afraid of latency since this is a Bluetooth controller -- are the controls super responsive, or do you feel some lag?
This device looks great! I am hoping to score one soon.

D pad feels fine, so do the other buttons. I haven't noticed any lag at all.
Only thing that lets this controller down is the analogue sticks, they work... but don't feel great. I could play dead trigger... Just!

According to a YouTube reviewer, it's got a ~1/4 sec lag. I think I'll pass because I want real-time controller response.

Right the dpad and keys all feel like an old nitendo pad and the joy sticks are ok nothing like xbox or playstation 2-3 controller but well worth £15 on amazon and yes a bit of lag but thats down to using drivers not made for it and you soon get used to the lag and adjust...
What's the largest screen that fits in this?
One X is compatible?
will galaxy note2 (3.17inch width) fit in this?
One x- yes, galaxy s3=yes, note=no

I have the same phone and the same gamepad. So at one time, vice city worked with this gamepad? That's been my only disappointment. I'm guessing a vice city update caused the problems. I've only ever been able to get the analogs to work.

Thats funny, I've been using it with no drivers, and have zero lag to speak of. I'm using it on a stock gs3 (4.11) and have played Shadowgun, Dead Trigger, PCE emulator, and the 2 mame4droid emulators without issue. I just pair it in gamepad mode and go.
I have 2 other phone gamepads and this one has zero latency issues by comparison. My MSI GP100 would lag like crazy. Overall, this is my favorite gamepad for phones yet.

The buttons are great. No problems whatsoever, satisfying click and sturdy feeling.
The analogs I can best compare to the psp, but stiffer and less comfortable. The texture bumps wear on my thumbs and my hands get cramped.
Comfort and the lack of 4 shoulder buttons are the only downfalls to this gamepad. Otherwise it's great.

Official controller woes

Just got hold of official controller and have issues with several games straight away. Echoes+ doesn't respond to any inputs. Wind Up Knight 2 doesn't accept inputs from the pad only some buttons. I paid for Pako car chase and again in doesn't accept input from the sticks only some of the buttons. Some games work fine which makes me think the controller is OK and the issue is with the games themselves. If that's the case I'll be sending the controller back as compatibility seems to be crap. I haven't even tried many games yet and quite a few are offering up problems. Anybody else have these kind of problems?

Looking for controller, mostly for emulators

I'm looking for a controller, mostly for GBA, DS, N64 and PS1 emulators. I've tried DS4 controller before, didn't like having to attach something to it. Never felt solid.
I would prefer one that has the phone in the middle, between the controller parts. I mostly play at night bed time, and without contacts in I can't see unless the phone is almost in my face so it would be the most comfortable option.
Anyone have suggestions? This one looks nice but I can't find any video reviews
