[Q] gmail not syncing

My gmail randomly stopped syncing. I am using virtuous .72 with pershoot kernel. I have tried clearing the cache and reflashing kernel but still no luck.
Any help, please?
You dont have any power saver programs running do ya? Also check to see that you have the gmail service running.

no power saver programs. what do you mean the gmail service?
In settings>account my gmail is listed and is supposed to sync mail. I am getting mail from my exchange account but I can't reply to it or or send any emails.

I was recently having that same problem. I just uninstalled Gmail with root explorer from the system/apps and then reinstalled from the market.

[Q] GMAIL delete?

So, I use the "EMAIL" app to handle both my work exchange and gmail account. I like that it's combined. Can I delete the GMAIL app on the phone but still have it sync the gmail information (contacts, calendar) via the accounts menu? I'm trying to avoid having the gmail sync in two separate places.
Settings/accounts/gmail, uncheck gmail. Not sure if you have tried that already or not.

I thought about that but I was worried it not syncing the "EMAIL" box. I suppose it shouldn't affect it, as there are separate gmail sync settings in that menu. I'll try that.

facebook 1.9.1 and contacts sync

I understood that the new facebook 1.9.1 would sync contacts with ICS but I do not have this option in my GNex with stock 4.0.4.
Anyone else?

It doesn't sync at this time. It shows as an account you can sync, but falls to sync when you tell it to. Google blocks Facebook from sync at this time. Read the other thread about this same topic that was posted yesterday.

well my problem is that I don't even have the option to sync in the accounts manager 9see attached screenshot)
can you pls point me to the thread?
You should keep in mind that facebook copies all of your contact data onto their servers.
This really upset me when I found out about it, so I deleted the facebook app from my devices.

You could try adding the fb account under settings. Or delete the account from your phone and add it again.

Birthdays for people who are in your phone book?
You add the birthday under their contact and Google updates the calendar.

Under calendar>settings there is a setting for what calendar to show. One of then is contacts birthday. You can add as many calendars to show as you have.

I have the same issue with my contacts' birthdays on CM 10.1.3. Just switched to this version from stock and the birthdays are not available anymore regardless of the fact that the Google calendars settings and the phone calendars ones are as they should.
I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!
