I'll fight my fear to look like a damn noob and keep the old forum rule up instead: I'll ask this not in a PM (as someone else might find an answer to this helpful, too, some time): to follow the security hint for installing a CM7 nightly I need to know where to find the superuser binary (in opposite to the su app)...
<edit>plus: should I delete those before or after flashing?</edit>
thx
LOL anybody? Does this sound too stupid for an answer?

Then wait until a thread pops up with that implies we have unrestricted root access. No offence, but if you don't know what is try to be achieved by a "full root" (i.e. read-write to /system without HTC rebooting the device) then why do you even need it?
You are right but when I read the differents posts I dont understand technicals words " JTAG" "SPL" "RUU" etc..
Im a noob but i want to understand.
My english is limited. I hope toi understand me.

Hey
I have just got my HTC Desire rooted and don't have a clue how to use it, so anyone wanna give me pointers or tell me how to customize or do as much as i can with this rooted HTC Desire, i have a rom installed on it called Lee Droid, but i was hoping to find out if i can add any other roms or do other things with it, someone please help me?!! lol
anyways thanks for reading this and i hope one of use helps me
Gratz on getting it rooted!
I guess the first thing you can do is theme it with the theme kitchen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775970
Just be careful about what you select. Or else you will cause yourself a bootloop.
Just to be safe do a nandroid backup and have a rom named update.zip ready to be flashed in the RUU if anything goes wrong.
Moved to Q&A as you may get more help here than in the Themes forum.
If this doesn't work out for you, PM me and I'll move it back
To be honest if you don't know what rooting is then you probably don't need it - always best to read up on it all before doing it!!

so you have LeeDroid, good, now, download Espresso's theme, which specifically is made for LeeDroid
find bundles and bundles of apps that you can use to mess with the rom, like a terminal emulator, root explorer, setCPU and many more, if you dont know how, check out my appbrain, loads of stuff

thanks for that

well, i guess it would have been better to let you wait for 10000 years and wonder why no one here will answer your question, because it got closed by mod....
but i thought i help you by pointing you to the right forum where you probably get your answer in 15min.
sorry for being so stupid trying to help you. i promise i will never ever do this mistake again.
happy waiting here
edit: "
WARNING!! If I see any more questions or non DEV related threads...I'll delete them.. "
this is the title of the third or forth sticky thread here. they delete your thread without warning or notification. this happens often and you would wait for ever without that hint from me.

You need a root explorer and look in /data/apps.

Hi there,
Yesterday i tried to flash cm7 on my WS.
It worked but everytime i want to start a app it says:
"Process xxx has stopped working." and i have two chices :
"Wait" or "Force Close".
this sucks.
Now i want to flash the old stock 2.3.3 Rom (Europe) with data2sd and an extern ext4 partition as internal memory.
How can I do this ?
Do i need to flash the old recovery back ?
Or is there any solution on the problem in cm7?
ah btw. i flashed gapps & data3sd with cm7.
and I can speak german too.

Nobody cares in this sector about your problem! You wrote it into the development sector, THIS IS WRONG DUDE! Why do we have rules? Read them first!

THAKS for your help.

In fairness its an easy mistake to be made i remember being caught out with it here, one thing that irritates me is that although the OP was wrong to post in this section people are too keen to jump on them and fill up the dev section even more by posting equally useless comments
So in response to the OP i would suggest posting in Q&A section
Just use the search facility.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1463684
If you managed to flash CM7, you already know what to do to flash stock Rom.
Clear everything first, then flash new Rom.

Hi Maxi_king_223,
You are right in what concers the tone matt5eo used. It's not necessary to talk like that to someone.
I myself was victim of that behavior by some "pseudo-smart guys" BUT also guilty of doing something similar to one or two users.
Please try to understand that people here get fed up with new users NOT reading the rules. That should be the first thing to do before posting.
There are different sections for different kinds of problems.
In this way it's easier to find solutions and also explain what problems you have. If you post in the right section there is a much higher probability of getting answers.
I hope that you also learn how to use the search function. For that please take a look at this thread by b02:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1463684
EDIT: came too late with the address but at least here you can click because it's a link.
Good luck here on XDA!
Okay,
I thought that no one of the topics were the right so i decided that this here was the best. I'm sorry if i bothered you. I'll put the thread into the Q&A topic.

Be quiet. x
I've just picked up an old HTC Desire and fancied flashing some custom roms and having a little tinker. I've read all the tutorials but have hit a wall when it comes to obtaining root. Unrevoked and Revolutionary seem to be dead. The download links are gone.
What's my best plan of attack?
TIA
You will have to wait... a forum member asked for a permision to post download links but no one answered yet...
