Hi.
Have had an issue with my DZ for a few months whereby the digitizer cannot register any touch in about a 1.5cm area horizontally across the centre of the panel. Was considering trying to put back the original HBoot / unroot etc, but have replaced LCD screens before, looked to YouTube and thought "let's have a go". Anyway, to cut a long story short, after replacing the digitizer (and spring whilst I was at it) I am now unable to get anything to display at all on the screen.
I have checked all of the snap in cables, and all are securely connected and free from debris, but am not sure where to go next. I am able to make the LED above the display flash by holding the V+ button in, and can hear the vibrator power up when switching the phone on - which I guess is a good sign. I am wondering if I have simply broken the LCD screen? But the keyboard/DPad backlight will not come on either, so I am suspicious of that idea...
Anyway, if I was thinking it was the LCD, I would just buy another, but I simply cannot be sure enough to invest another 25 quid. Any suggestions guys?
Thanks in advance,
Daniel.
I have

and not just the front facing cam i mean that entire assembly complete including digitizer, lcd screen and what ever else is in there

I take it you cracked yours?
We just call it the "screen". It's the LCD with digitizer pre-fitted. Earpiece speaker and front cam are not included, you'll have to transfer them from the old screen to the new one.
any idea where i can get one? anything i search for i only get lcd screens and digitizers. i bought 2 digitizers for $45 dollars before i realized replacing one was probably above my ability

That I'm not sure about??
bumping this if anyone knows how to determine a small cable from a wide cable
http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC-Evo-4G-Teardown/2979/1
you have to open it, it's the cable nearest the charging port. if the bottom two are about the same size then you have the big one. hope that helps
edit:
also the smaller ribbon has the connection a little further into the board where as the big one you'll see it right on the edge of the board
ok cool so from what i remember when i did open it i would have the wide one

maybe this will help
So if I wanted to replace it, would i replace the LCD screen itself or the digitizer? Not sure as the photos of where I can buy both of these items do not make it very clear which part I need.
MOST phones are just the glass itself. LCD Digitizer is the LCD display this is like this

but many phones the digitizer is attached to the glass(My Galaxy S 4g) I would just recommend going to your local flea market and look for a phone guy. They're the cheapest.
Depends how much it´s scratched, but general is just the digitizer.
That's what I thought. The LCD screen is a tad recessed for it to be the top of the screen... now i know for future reference
Wow you hardly broke it :$

Are you sure it's not the shatter-resistant film that's scratched? It can be removed, and the screen won't scratch as easily (just try not to drop the phone if you do)
That would be it, the only thing i ever removed from my screen was the thing plastic protector that all devices have on their screens now.. Thanks!
HOLY SH*T!!!!!!!!
Ur poor phone...when i see it i thing it is better buy a new one or insurance...

The screen has cracked for a very long time but still functional. Just now, it fell once again and then a white-ish thin line appeared at the very right corner, but I ignored it as it does not disturbed me. Few hours later, I think i put a little pressure into this pressure (But I'm pretty sure i am not, because my the only thing i did was to put it inside of my jeans pocket) and poof! Half of the screen cannot be seen clearly (refer picture). But still could function as in I could still use the touch screen mode at the affected area. Could this lcd screen problem be saved without replacing the lcd with a new one? Replacing it is my last resort if I could save it DIY. Help me, thanks!
Yeah, sure, via a software update. That'll also give you wireless charging, but only if you charge the phone inside the microwave.
You've cracked the screen! What sort of DIY fix you assume can exist, besides replacing it?
tired of cheap ebay screens, what replacement screen do yall recommend?
OnePlus RMA. It isn't overly expensive.
From memory, it was around £90 for me.
Hello everyone!
So the top 3/4" of my HTC 10 stopped working about 4 months into owning the phone. I tried getting HTC to replace/repair my device, but I forgot to reset it to stock before I sent it in and they decided my warranty was now void and the logic board replacement would run me $350+. I've been using the device for over a year now by using gestures as a workaround.

I had been researching ways to change the positioning of the screen down so I could use it more or less as normal.
I came across the overscan command in ADB. I shifted the screen down to 0,300,0,0 and to my surprise the screen did the exact same thing as it was before I added the margin, just lower down the LCD.
With this I figure the problem must be a software issue instead of a hardware issue as HTC originally implied.
I am currently running ResurrectionRemix 5.8.3 although I have tried several roms and they all produce the same problem.
Is there a way to adjust the digitizers margins so that my touch will line up correctly?
It may be worth noting that when I touch the "dead" area, it does register the touch just under where I'm actually pressing.
Any and all help will be very appreciated.
Hey guys, so I recently have a problem with my Mi Max 3 and that is there are vertical lines appearing on the screen. Long story short, it fell off my bed when I was sleeping. I found the phone beside the floor of my bed, the screen was facing the floor. Everything seems functional. But for some reason, when I press the “middle” of the screen or lock the screen (press the power button) the vertical lines almost disappear. Now I have researched the problem but I’m not sure. My question is, is something loose or broken? Or something else, comment down below, any kind of help is appreciated

Either the display cable popped off the board or the display ribbon tore off the display. One is fixable without parts the other needs a new LCD.
