I would like to see what people are using/tweaking their color profiles to...right now I am at:
Red -10
Green 0
Blue -2
And I am pleased with the results
Feel free to chime in...who knows we may stumble onto a kickass combo (albeit each phone is'nt 100% identical)
-8 0 8, but kernel calibration dont calibrate white color... still very yellow tint.. very bad
I'm using the latest franco, but where can I find the color profiles setting?

Its In the app you buy from the market...just do a search for Franco...

I'm assuming that tint was there when you first bought the phone right? Which means I must really test the phones in the shop for this tint before I buy it.
I'm using 2 0 -5 as someone else posted when it was first released.

If it was a unauthorized to sell error, try it now, Franco was getting authorized by google and they wouldn't let anyone buy the app while they were doing that.
@fronc - IIRC its gamma
Can you post before and after screen shots?

Changes the color brightness.
I get this weird problem when setting green very low: when the screen dims, it goes very green...
Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out what exactly this does...or at least what the use cases are of modifying these values.
I bought Franco's app to support him and for hotplug.....but haven't had the courage or motivation to mess with the screen settings.
What's the benefit of messing with these values?

+1 if I even set it minus one it'll go green at the lowest brightness.

This is simple: this mod controls the RGB gamma values. If you give it R it will give some extra Red into the scree, G for green and B for blue. You can range between -255 and 255, and with experimentation there's the possibility to get the best color profile. It's as simple as this.
But it is not possible to change brighter tones and whites without completely screwing up dark and mid tones. This was possible with voodoo color
-10,2-2
That was just a random choice, but I plan on testing new things.

I am also experiencing a green tint when the screen dims (if I lower the green value) I hope this can be fixed because the gamma on my screen is way too high and lowering all the values makes it look much better!

Same issue. Any time I mess with color values the screen goes green on lowest light settings.

I just picked up a Galaxy Nexus from WIND Mobile.
I have to say, the one thing I dread the most about AMOLED is the black/bright contrast. My eyes are very sensitive, and whenever I see something bright against an intensely dark background I get halos and it's very difficult to focus. For this reason I prefer LCD screens where the blacks are slightly grey. Nonetheless I decided to make the leap to the GNex because I like a lot of other things about it.
Do you think there is any sort of hack that could make the AMOLED look a bit more like an LCD? I realize this would affect battery life but basically what I'd like is to hack the colour space so that black becomes maybe 1-5% grey. I remember on CM7 there were hacks that could apply filters to make white into a more salmon-pinkish hue, a warmer white, etc. What I'm looking for is the reverse - leave the white alone but make the blacks greyer.
Anyone think this might be possible?
I don't know a specific solution, but here are some options:
If you're rooted, francois kernel and app can adjust the Gama levels, affecting all colors, but may help.
App Log graph can adjust your auto brightness levels.
Yes I am rooted.
Does increasing the gamma change the black levels? If so that could help.

It seems to depend on the app. Some apps have a gentle dark grey gradient in the background. But the stock taskbar, even at full brightness, is just as black as the same part of the screen is when the screen is off.
Not trying to be a comedian here, but have you gotten your eyes checked lately?
Seeing halos is linked to several severe eyediseases or wearing wrong/none correction.

Fair enough. Optometrist says my eyes are healthy but I have large pupils that don't contract very efficiently. As a result I get halo effects at high contrast even when using proper vision correction. It's not something that poses a health threat otherwise. But he did advise me strongly against laser eye surgery as there would be a high risk of halos getting worse.
So that's me in a nutshell.

I'm not looking to lower the brightness - I know how to do that already. I'm looking to decrease the contrast by making the black levels greyer.

I used a LED test app to see what colors would work and the colors were all off. I press the blue button and my red LED turns on. Green turns on like a weird blue Magenta.
I'm curious if anyone else has this problem or if there's a better app out there for testing (I've tried light flow, blink, and LED test)

Yeah, it's a known issue that all the color signal are screwed up. I believe this is an OS problem and using a non-touchwiz ROM like CM9 or CM10 would fix the issue.
Mine good.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
i can confirm after having the issue with the stock rom, once i flashed to cm10 the led colors corrected themselves.
The developer for light flow had already escalated this to Samsung engineering. Touchwhiz screwed up the codes used to change the LED colors. That's why flashing a non Touchwhiz rom fixes it. We just have to wait for Samsung to issue an update or for Light Flow to figure out a workaround.

This is a different type of screen. Blacks will not be as deep nor colors will it be as saturated as super amoled. As far as settings I use 255 190 255.

I use Fauxclock. It's got CPU/GPU clock and voltage control, in addition to color (and gamma, when ROMs/kernels begin to support it). You can also select an IO scheduler.
Basically it does all the same stuff as Voltage Control, SetCPU, Incredicontrol, and N4 Display Control, but it's in one app so it's overall cheaper.
I went to a Best Buy today and compared my N4's screen directly to a Optimus G. I didn't actually think my screen looked yellow at all until I compared it to the Optimus G. My N4's screen looked terribly yellow, was less bright, and had worse viewing angles than both of the Optimus G's my local Best Buy had on display.
Based off the first post in this thread for the GNex, I set my Nexus 4 to settings of:
182
190
200
I haven't tinkered too much but this seems to make things a bit better.
Has anyone else experienced the screen turning very yellow, almost brown, when viewing from the corners of the device? I am pretty unhappy with the viewing angles on the phone, especially after comparing it to the Optimus G, which is supposed to have the same display.

This app puts an overlay on top of your screen, so it doesn't really "change" your display colors. The screen settings definitely do not change when you attempt to install a different app.
Why do you say this is just an overlay? It is baked into the kernel.

I had a pink line running up and down my screen on the right side which was awful on white screens. I noticed a lot of people have also been complaining of pink blotches or something of the sort.
I did a little something most commonly used on TV.
go to dialer and press
*#0*#
it'll take you to a test screen.
press on red, blue, green on the top and see which pixels need to be re learned.
keep the phone on each of the 3 color screens for a few minutes each.
it should start to fade the pink away
if it doesn't, repeat.
normally it's the red where the pixels are most noticeably out on.
give the process and repetition some time. it should seriously help get your pink screens right again!
my pink line is gone!

Ive got a pinkish hue across the bottom. and this doesnt appear to be working on cyanogenmod for me ("Connection problem or invalid MMI code")
Is there any difference to just leaving a full screen pure red, pure green, or pure blue (255,0,0 , 0,255,0 , 0,0,255) image on the screen, or does it do some fancier other things in the background?
Alternatively, is this hardware or software based fixing/learning? If I revert to stock, run this, then return to cyanogenmod will it still be fixed?

Just flash a Stock Based ROM (much easier then Odin) and then run the codes. Yes it should fix it when you flash back to CM hoping that this fix is a true fix. I am also guessing that the codes do a little more than just holding a colored image on the screen. Might be wrong on that but who knows.
It's proprietary Samsung service mode. Only works on touchwiz roms
