Farewell Epic 4G Touch community!

I recently changed wireless providers and I am currently on AT&T now. I got the Galaxy S II for AT&T and I'm liking it so far. I would just like to thank all the developers for their hard work and the community with all that they have helped with. Also anyone that has every answered a question that I have asked, I really appreciate it. Its been good. Take Care.

The Note is for people who need a little help in their pants...

I thought both Note and Skyrocket were based on snapdragon chipsets, not Exynos. In other words, Epic Touch is still the best phone in the US.

Atts normal GS2 is the closest to the international one of all the variants and uses exynos. But the LTE ones don't

Exactly. And because Epic Touch has a larger screen, 4G and notification led, it's the best version of GS2 or any other android phone in the us.
He'd probably have to import an international Note just to make up for swapping out the Epic Touch. And that still may not be an upgrade if one cared about 4G (which I really don't, so it would be for me).

Congrats. You just downgraded your service provider and downgraded you device. AT&Ampt is the worst possible carrier and you no longer has the exynos chipset. If i was you i would do an about face. Return your AT&Ampt device. And NEVER EVER look back. Also i hope you enjoy getting limited to 2GB of Data thru AT&Ampt. And getting charged more for less minutes. Enjoy. Lulz.

About to trade for a galaxy nexus.

You should probably ask this question in the Marketplace >>General, especially if he's done any other trades, purchases etc via XDA.
You can also see if he has info on other forums like androidcentral, android forums etc.
And also check his feedback on XDA and contact other people that have dealt with with him to see if everything went smooth.
If he has no feedback or you're still a bit skeptical, ask him if you both cross ship..

To OP, if you looked at the sellers history he actually had 3 reviews and a 100% rating. Actually just looked him up.....It is also good to read through threads and posts they make. You can sometimes get an idea of what type of person they are.

You could also go through paypal if out makes you feel comfortable. Send an invoice of what your selling and 300 (arbitrary number) he sends you the cash and you post tracking number and he does the three same after he receives your phone. Extra step but if out makes you feel better

It might not be the best idea to get a GNex now because they're pretty outdated.

How is it outdated? As far as I'm concerned the s3 is outdated because it's not running jelily bean. The hardware is not that big of a difference other than the ram.

If you call retentions, more than likely they'll take care of you. If you're out of contract retentions entire job is to keep you from leaving. The way they could handle this situation is more or less set it up in the system as if you were going to cancel, but locked into another contract... more or less, as if you had cancelled, then signed up as a new customer. In fact, that might be how they'd do it.
Give them a call and try.

I really would wait if I were you, signs of this means a new Nexus phone is in the making by Google. Which I would buy because GS2 has been a mess with ICS, and I am secured updates with a Nexus device!

Rethink that. Sprints version of the galaxy nexus is not supported by Google. The sprint version is code named the toroplus, look it up. Good development community though

I'm not sure that device is any better than what we have now, in fact it might be worse.

I know ICS runs better on it. Smoother In my opinion. My wife has one. I talked to Samsung this morning and according to them Sprint is hustling Epic owners about a bug fix update. The Samsung Supervisor even said it was never recommended that Sprint push the update. She said no update is in the works for this model. The funny thing about it is Samsung says there call lines are flooded with Epic owners having issues and Sprint tells me there are not any problems and I need to take out insurance. That will be a cold day in Hell!

Where did you exactly find that info?everything I saw was that the nexus was called "toroplus"as in the model name.everything I read is that it is Google powered and there roms for it..please lead me to the direction you saw what you did.

Read in the galaxy nexus forums, most people say don't get the sprint or verizon versions as they don't get their updates like the ones purchased through google play.Still good phones etc, just not the same google experience.

Hey guys i had one sprint nexus i never seen like this phone so f*** crupy does not have good network, radio, worset battery,
I sold on ebay anf boughy sgs2 best phone so far i got. Please i recommend for people stop buying this phone. I don't know verizon nexus sprint hell no.

what phone should I get? I was thinking about the Galaxy Nexus or the S3. and the new Photon 4 G L T E is definitely out of the question since they lock that down tight! I'm kind of leaning towards S3. I would like to get to peoples thoughts and opinions on this before I make the decision. since I don't have any of these phones.

actually I have two upgrades available, 1 now and 1 in about 45 days, I'm kinda nervous about getting the Nexus because I've heard of receiving issues for the antenna, S3 seems like the safest bet.

Personally I would go to both forums and see what's going on there,pro's/cons
I saw the gnexus as better option and ordered one from eBay.

No. I can personally attest to the fact that the GPS on the S3 is very, very good. I don't know what you mean by the surf antenna, but I do know that it utilizes GLONASS. Locks consistently in under 3 seconds, accuracy within 6 feet most of the time.

thanks that's something i use a lot. I have 3 S2's mine, my daughters, and my sons. Mine is the only one that has GPS that works. I was Judd making sure Samsung fixed that on the S3

I have a couple co workers that have the s3, one on Verizon and one on Sprint and its pretty damn awesome. We travel for work so I had the one who has Sprint use GPS and it seems to work great along with great battery life on a bigger better screen. And he gets faster download speeds too. I'm personally holding out for the next Nexus which should be here this fall hopefully or close to the holidays, but you have another upgrade coming so you are good. One good thing to do is just go to the store and play with them as long as you want then maybe wait a day or two, to be sure.

Possible Upgrade

Well ladies and gents after tomorrow I may be moving to the Galaxy Nexus. I have been eyeballing them for a while now and today my brother got one. He brought it over and wanted it rooted and cool custom rom put on it and we had an evening of fun with it. I can upgrade to that phone for $.97 and that is hard for me to pass up. There is nothing wrong with my Inc 2, but I sure do like that bigger screen it is very snappy and I don't think I can go wrong for a dollar. I have also been looking at the S3 for awhile too, but I will give the gnex a go and see what I think.

The phone may be $0.97 up front but it's not a $0.97 phone. That's the subsidized price. The real cost of the phone is in the monthly fees over the course of a two year contract.

I'm sure he knows that..

Oh yeah, I know they still get their money, especially with the data charges! I have been purchasing my phones used so I could keep my unlimited data, but I now work from home and don't really need unlimited data because I stay connected to wifi 90% of the time, so why not upgrade and get my new phone. The only con I could find was the lack of a SD card, but I have a 16gb sd card in my phone now and that is plenty for me.

Well, I did go ahead and get the gnex and so far so good. I still have my Inc 2 and will still play around with it from time to time and if for some reason I find something that I dislike with the gnex I will have something to on hand to activate.

I think that's what ill be doing. That phone is still good and you don't have to deal with branding. Plus you get the benefit of LTE.

So far it is a great phone, running PA on it and it is running smoothly. I don't think I will regret getting it at all.

Story of my life. Except I flash all the ROMS I've already flashed because I'm a flash-a-holic. Its so bad that, after running the PAC ROM we have; which runs great for me, I felt the need to flash something else just for the sake of flashing.
