[Q] Market Problem - No Download - 'Error 492' - Stock ROM - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Okay I know this is another 'I have a market problem' thread. But I really have no where else to turn any more.
Details:
Phone: HTC Wildfire S
Carrier: Orange UK
Software Version: Android 2.3.5 / Sense 2.1 / Build No. 2.13.401.2 CL19017
ROM - Stock
Rooted? - No
SD Card - Samsung 2GB
Issue:
This is my girlfriend's first Android phone and she has been happily downloading applications from the market for the past few days (note: the phone was purchased new about 3 weeks ago). She has had no problem up until 2 days ago in which she told me the apps wouldn't download.
I looked into it and found that once pressing the 'accept permissions' button the download status icon would appear and disappear in seconds. She was at this time using Market version 2.3.6 (as she was also still running Android 2.2 if my memory serves me well).
I updated the android software to 2.3 - but it did not update Market. I tried the old trick of 'deleting cache' - but that had no effect. Today I installed the update for market via AndroidSDK. It was then after installing Market 3.4.4 (I have a HTC Sensation and this is the market version I use) that I was receiving the 492 Error.
I have tried numerous things as well including:
- Clearing Cache for Market, and Download Manager
- Clearing Data for Market, and Download Manager
- Removing the ".####" folders from the SD Card
- Unmounting the SD Card while downloading
- Formatting the SD Card
- Restarting the phone 'cold'
However none of these have worked yet. The phone is not rooted (yet) so I cannot do a Dalvik Cache clear.
I don't want to try the 'Factory Reset' just yet as I feel that's a bit of an 'extreme' measure being that it would wipe all her applications.
Does anyone else know a way to resolve this? Or even what the '492 Error' is?
Thanks
(Just as a further note the applications are being downloaded through a Wi-Fi connection, which works just fine with my Sensation)

[Q] Problems downloading some apps on CM7

I recently upgraded to CM7. I love this version of Cyanogen but I have one problem with downloading several apps from the market. For example Firefox. When I want to download this app, I get the download icon in the top left corner for about 0.5 seconds.
I wiped my phone before
Offcourse I searched the interweb for a solution, but wiping market cache and logging in to Google Talk didn't help. Anyone know about this issue? I can't stand it that I cannot download apps from the market.
No one knows any solution?
Reinstalling the Market sometimes resolves the issue
Google for market.apk
I tried to install the market APK file but my phone tells me that the app isn't installed.
Install s2e from the market. Open it, select download cache and confirm the operation. The device will reboot and afterward you will be fine

Hi I'm new to XDA and had the problem mentioned above. Also, some apps such as Angry Birds (the horror!) will not appear in the market, however Angry Birds Rio does. Even after trying your method of s2e the problem still occurs. The when trying to download the Rio version, it pops up with "Starting Download /-/-/-/-/-/-/-/" for 1 second, then goes away again.
On the desktop market it says "Angry Birds is not available to your device because of content filters" or something-does this mean anything to you?
(It's not just Angry Birds, it's other applications too, but I can't remember which other ones)
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
HTC Desire, CM7, 3(UK).
Try formatting and partitioning your SD card using ROM manager (it's built into the CM7 ROM)
Worked for me!

Ooh it worked! Thank you!
Hi, me again.
I was fine, and the problem has just come back, same scenario before (except all apps appear in the market), however more apps do that 0.5 "Starting Download /-/-/-/-/-/-/ " thing again.
I tried formatting the SD card, and re-partitioning, although when I press "format sd card" it reboots in recovery and says "installation unsuccessful" -then there is no option for partition in recovery.
I am completely bewildered and would appreciate any help (again!)
Thank you in advance!
(same Desire, CM7, 3(UK), haven't changed a thing since last time)

(Sorry I posted the same thing twice, I replied to myself by accident first time round, and didn't know if you would get notified or not)

Install S2E from the App Market, open the app and check move download/cache to SD card.
Reboot your Desire and try downloading your apps again!

[Q] Leedroid HD 3.3.3r5 market, camera and locale issues

I have a few issues after updating from 3.8.0.2 to 3.3.3r5 ( full wipe data, dalvik & cache ). CM 2.5.0.7, 1GB ext3, No Sense 3 installation, about 90MB free ...
1. there is no English(South Africa) locale/language available. I've used the closest which is English(UK) however this results in the Android News widget only showing a UK news tab and not South Africa.
2. I can't install apps from Market - once you select an app to install, it shows "Starting Download" and stays there indefinitely. After the upgrade to 3.3.3r5, I restored a few select apps from a TB backup so that was fine, but anything from Market does not work - have deleted cache/data from app, and then also redid wipe cache/dalvik in recovery, but no change
3. playback of recorded video is in an unusual resolution resulting in distorted view
Any help is appreciated
Regards, Robby
Ok found solution for no. 2 market issue - it seems as if market is accessing via tcp ports 13 and 5228 which my firewall was blocking - opened these ports and apps install now. Very weird!
what about the rest of the problems, specially the video?

apps not updating on desire

hi guys seem to be having issues with updating certain apps, some of the game apps have updated but maps wont update flash player wont also other apps.. they both come up downloading then says downloading failed.
ive tried doing the clear data and cache but still no luck.
im s off
pvt 3
custom mounted, ive even increased my mount to see if that was issue.
any ideas?
Try manual update, instead of auto update. My colleague had the same problem on a DHD, so he stopped the auto update and sucessfully updated manually.
tried that mate nothing,
seems it wont download any big apps either. i have a script to make market work but still dnt seem to work, it used to tho.
What Rom are you on? What Partition Table you use?
just standard sense but stripped down.
its set at 175 5
Your cache size is the problem -5MB is not enough.
YOu need to flash or enable market (script) to download to the SD - what and where you find it, depends on your ROM. Check the developement section.
I have a initd link cache to data script, worked fine now dnt seem to.
I've had an issue with a few manual updates where you only get a white screen after clicking on the update button and the agree/download screen doesn't load.
Anybody had anything similar?
Whatsthe contents of the script?
i must be doing something really stupid cos ii cant get it to work at all
Try removing both scripts (mine and yours) and reboot (you did reboot after applying mine right?) then see if you can download a small app

[Q] Programs keep disappearing / corrupting

Hi!
I bought a used HTC Desire. The person selling it had rooted the phone, installed a new ROM (miui, as far as I can tell, since there's at least the miui camera. He said he had wanted an ICS rom) and the phone is using the SD card for increasing its memory. Titanium Backup, LauncherPro, AC!D SoundMOD, Dolby Mobile, ES File Explorer, Firewall, Fancy Widgets, Pimp My Rom, QuickPic, SuperSU, two instances of Superuser, Task Manager and Theme Manager have been installed. LauncherPRO is used as the "desktop environment".
Some things from the "About Phone" dialogue:
Model number: HTC Desire
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Kernel version: 2.6.38.8-cayniarb-ics-stock-022612-00844-ge004de8
Build number marius.a v.2.5(Temporary version)
The problem is, reboots keep causing programs to disappear or get corrupt. There are several ways in which this happens:
* Some programs launch, but don't show anything. For example Firefox ends up showing only a white screen with some basic OS-wide UI elements visible.
* Most programs simply say "Unfortunately, <programname> has stopped", where <programname> of course varies according to program.
* Some programs launch for a while, but fall to the "unfortunately, <foo> has stopped" after a second or a minute.
* Some programs completely disappear, leaving at best a picture of a green robot on the home screen. Touching the picture with my finger, I get: "Could not launch the requested activity."
* There is one program still working flawlessly: Andropas, a PT route planner for my city and Maverick, a GPS/maps program.
Also the Play store is now broken, although it survived many earlier program mass deaths.
I've fixed Firefox several times by uninstalling it using ES File Explorer and then digging it from the Downloads folder (I've installed a beta from an .apk file) and installing it again.
A reboot doesn't always break programs: My previous two reboots left FF intact. I once rebooted choosing Reboot from the menu you get by pulling the panel on the upper side of the screen downwards and then choosing TOGGLES and once choosing Shutdown from the same menu, waiting for the phone to shut down and then starting it again.
I am therefore not completely sure if the problem is reboot-related, but it has by now only appeared when I've rebooted my phone.
For adjusting yourself: This is my first Android phone, but I would call myself generally tech savvy and am able to grasp new OSes very quickly. A power user for sure, but not a developer on any platform whatsoever.
So... Any idea of what I should fix in order to get the phone functioning correctly?
If I have to go for installing another ROM, is there something about using the SD Card as memory extension that I should take into account in order not to brick my phone?
You have an old version of the Marius.a ICS Rom, and it has bugs. You should flash the newest one.
If that doesn't solve it, then repartition your sd-card. Check the guide in my sig.

Insufficient Storage Error while installing/updating apps

From last week I'm facing this issue.
1) this issue is with some apps only.
- till now i hv seen this error while updating Facebook, Gmail and Tv Sideview app
2) Google Play store completely downloads the app but while updating it says Error: Insufficient Storage.
3)
But I'm able to install other apps from Google Play.
4) Even installing Facebook, Gmail, Sixaxis Controller manually from APK has failed it says Free up some space. While I can still install games as large as 50mb.
5) two weeks later I have rooted my phone, but I haven't done any critical changes which many rooted android users do.
6) some apps I'm using which u may want to know are:
-SuperSU, Root Uninstaller (fr deleting G-books n G-Newstand), GL to SD (but it's unmounted), Link to SD (just installed didn't use it), Rom Toolbox Lite (didn't use it either) and Lucky Patcher.
I have mentioned it because I got to know that it's the issue with those using lucky Patcher....???
Root /dev/log... Folder has just four files. Nothing to clean frm there.
Internal memory : 360mb (I had uninstalled some apps to increase it too 410mb but still facing the same issue)
Help requested. What to do now?
Phone: Sony Xperia M Dual
Model: C2004
Android version: 4.2.2 (Stock Rom) just rooted nothing changed.
======================================
UPDATE: FIXED ||||| PROBLEM SOLVED
====================================
I had changed d Apps2SD option to SD Card which was causing this error. Changed it to Auto again
By the way another fix is to goto lucky Patcher and in it's troubleshooting menu. Choose remove /delte (any logical options which says to clear) patches and backups
PS: i read it smwhere and haven't tried this one.
