sadly, I only need two things for this phone: a new battery cover and a better screen (i got a bad one). Unfortunately this only comes with one of those things, and Im not pain $85 for a battery cover. (not sure Id know how to install a screen even if it DID have one).

yeah, but a heck of a lot better than $80. Ill message the seller and see if he might be willing to negotiate that price some, too. Who knows, some are.
Side note, anybody know of any skins that might cover over the small scratches on my backplate that might be cheaper than $40?
You could try some vynil skins/stickers? Easily found on Ebay too.
Or just get a case to cover it up.

If you have a malfunction of the housing due to manufacturer defect then you can return it for a replacement. My housing was squeaking around the buttons and I'm returning it for that reason, outside of the remorse period. But if your phone is less than one year old (which all of these are) it's covered by warranty. Call Tmo customer support and complain until they give you a new one.
I'd like one just to make it look better...
I'm thinking about getting this phone, and would like a white one IF it wasn't two shades of grey in the back.
I've replaced quite a few housings on phones I've owned (BB Pearl, T-Mo G1, and a T-Mo Mytouch) - my big hesitation would be disassembling a phone that's under warranty, which I haven't done before...
...but a little electroplating, and the metal pieces on the back could be copper color (and matching) instead of mismatched shades of grey.. plus white.. plus chrome on the front (which might also be able to be plated).
Don't know if it's worth $100 plus voiding my warranty... though I'm a big fan of customizing things...

You get both doors when you buy the 'extended battery'. That is not the price of the doors indivisually. You get the extended battery too!
they are made out of the same material as the stock covers.

I have one and the battery works well on stock, but obviously works best rooted and trickle charged. Takes 2.5 to charge. The white looks awful, like a car with mismatched doors. No overclock, auto brightness constant 3g, handcenter texting, surfing, emailing I use for 7 hrs at work. About 80's % left. When I got it as a present dec 2010 newegg did not sell seidio accessories,And seidio was back ordered so bit the bullet. It worked out. Sadlys no custom case for this. Ihear seidio case will work, no kick standard though, no dice.

that price is the 2600mah extended battery plus those two backdoors that you saw, both are made of plastic but white has glossy finish while the black have a rubber like finish.
Overpriced x3
Those are the most overpriced item I have seen. I have a wholesaler account with a cell company and a black case and 2700 battery (not a knockoff from china by the way) costs a TON less. So shop around people and dont get ripped.
The black case has a nice soft feel, the white looks cool but is very shiny and plastic looking.
I picked up 2 of these earlier this week for 2 Evo's we have. And TBH Battery life tripled or quadrupled (Rooted) and the battery doors feel really nice. The black ones at least. The white doors make the phone look kinda ugly IMO but hey, not bad at all for $55.

Like others have said -- you have a wholesaler account yet you are complaining about RETAIL prices? Do you know how different markets and distribution channels work?
It's not a bad deal even retail wise - you are getting a good piece of hardware at a fair price from a nationwide retail chain that honors returns and exchances with little to no hassle.
Sure you could buy a "3500mAh extended" battery from some no-name place on ebay for 10 dollars. Problem is you have no idea on the quality, and returns are next to impossible.
I can beat even your wholesaler pricing on this exact item though. I got mine for free from the sprint store. Just by asking and being nice. Bought the battery and then had online customer care credit me back 60 dollars to my account. Great little battery, and I seem to recall that Li-Po batteriers are even more advanced then the common Li-Ion these days.
I got one from sprint for free and let me tell you I would of paid for the battery. This by far is better then any ebay battery I bought. No secret charging steps or anything those ebay ones tell you to do. Popped it in and went. I get three dayson a charge with being rooted. I do agree the white door just don't look right.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
$55 is not a bad deal, that's the same as the Seidio 3500 mAh but it's genuine OEM which guarantees performance. It looks quite a bit thinner too, where it doesn't turn my Evo into a Zack Morris phone.
Still pricey though. I wish I could use my $150 upgrade credit towards accessories...

Samsung will replace it for you most likely. I know that my friend purchased a phone off Craigslist without the back cover and the imei was reported stolen to Samsung. They wouldn't help him out.
Often times when there's a missing back cover the phone has been stolen from a retail store. There's an adhesive puck that's placed and super glued onto the back cover.

i was just saying this in another thread. but because of the newness of our phones, there is a shortage in cheap accessories for it. but as time goes on they will come. have you called Samsung or t mobile? they might could order you one. im sure they'll charge a bunch tho...
your local Tmo might have a returned SGS II with an extra battery door. I know when i worked for Tmo all we had to return would be the main part of the phone and the battery (and even this wasnt required to be returned some times). We kept all the other items in a bin for customers so we could help them out, an extra charger, 1gb micro sd card etc.

Anybody know where I can find a battery cover? I bought a Galaxy S2 off of CL, brand new for $250, but the dude lost the box and battery cover. He gave it to me with one of those rubber skins on it, it gets the job done I guess. I've never really been a fan of those skins because I like my skinny, sexy ass phone to stay skinny and sexy. I tried Ebay, Google, T-mobile stores and bupkis. Help me!!!!!!!!
Just call Samsung and tell them that you have broken the cover, they will send you a new one for free or a minimal charge

thats what i was thinking also.
Nah I don't think so. Dude actually had 2 of them, the one he was using, and this one. He said this one was his wives and she didn't want it, plus they needed money. He told me they moved recently and put the phone in his pocket so the movers wouldn't be tempted to steal it. I dunno, seemed legit to me. It's working good for 2 days so far, I even took it to a T-mobile store today looking for a battery cover. I dunno, guess I'll find out sooner or later.
Hoping to hear from people who have dealt with this before. Cracked my screen pretty badly but luckily (relatively...) it still works as far as i know. I don't have insurance and while I'm gonna deal with it for now I'd eventually like to get it replaced, fixed, or upgrade to a new phone. What are ballpark figures for cost considering my contract isn't up for another year and a half and i don't have insurance? What would you do if you were in my situation?

my advice: get it fixed
newalker91 said:
Sprint will not repair the screen, so that's not an option. Replacing the phone would be around $250 cheapest for a used device, $550 for a retail price device. Sending it in to a 3rd party repair company would cost you the $150 for the screen plus hourly labor, making it closer to $200. Factor in shipping cost and you may as well buy a phone.
Replacing the screen is easy. Undo the 6 philips head screws in the back housing, work a thin plastic wedge around the rim and pop the housing off. Undo the two screws on the board, unclip the ribbon cables, reverse the process onto the new screen. Takes about 15 minutes if you haven't done it before.

Sprint won't allow that. If that were the case everybody would be doing that.
If I were you I would buy dude's screen who is posted above this post and after that I would go on YouTube to see if I could find a video on how to assemble or replace the Epic touch's screen. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
If I helped you out in any way please thank me. Thanks.
If the Insurance was added the best you could do is process and insurance claim and get a refurbished phone for $100.
Changing out the screen is pretty simple. Just make sure you watch the camera connection at the top and the one at the bottom of the board. Every DIYer seems to miss those two.
It's very unfortunate that our assemblies cost so much, when the iphone assembly is like 40 bucks and to get it installed will run about 90 if you don't do it yourself. Our phone seriously needs cheaper replacement parts.

You can search on Craigslist and eBay for phones with bad esn. And simply make one working out of two.
You can ask on forums for people who bricked their phones beyond returning point and sprint refuses to help them.
But of the guy above gives you a good deal. Take it.

Yes, I went in the day it happened and asked if they could replace it or what my options were. Other than buying a new phone for retail price, they said they couldn't do anything and didn't even do the repairs themselves. They just referred me to World of Wireless (I called them and they were charging $250 for the 'custom order' repair they'd have to do).
Buy a new one off Amazon for $8.00 and install it yourself. It take about a half hour and save a bunch of money

I recently bought what I thought was an OEM battery from eBay for my Epic 4G touch.
It's a really convincing fake (or at least I think it's fake). The giveaway on this one is the QR code/data matrix next to the serial number.
On the three OEM batteries I have, the decoded barcode starts with GH43, and contains the model number. On the fake one, the QR code is just the serial number.
Thoughts? Could this actually be a real battery, and Samsung changed the way they barcode their batteries? Or, should I try to get my money back on eBay?

The battery works. I paid $10.29. It also weighs two grams less than my original battery, and the contacts don't line up properly (I can see a black line in the opening for one of the three battery contacts. The typography is almost perfect, but just looks different than the three OEM batteries I have lying around (one from Epic 4g Touch, two from Sprint Galaxy Nexus).
I think I'm going to return the battery and hope that the seller will reimburse my shipping cost.
I got two batteries from Amazon, an Anker and a oem Samsung, paid similar price and both turned out to be good purchases. Have two epics 14 months old and needed to replace batteries in Dec. So far so good.

I'm afraid to use a counterfeit battery given that Li-Ion batteries have a small chance of exploding. I also could get a non-OEM one for two or three dollars off of eBay (they're probably crap), so why would I pay extra a "Samsung" branded fake one when it's probably the same?
You don't know what your getting until you open your package after ups delivers it.
I ordered aftermarket and original so I could compare then. The Samsung battery was identical to my original except it had a different serial number.
All good!

I got one of those a few months ago but I ordered it knowing it was a fake since it was $3 and not advertised as OEM but had the OEM label. It was an obvious fake on arrival but it worked fine. After a few weeks it definitely got worse life than stock turned so I peeled back the sticker and it was a 1500mah.
Here it is, the crappy label is already wearing off. And here is the info under the crappy label too. I made a thread with better pics a few months ago too. I recently got some EzoPower brand batteries off Amazon and so far so good.

Sure thing. If its a good ebay seller I wouldn't be surprised if they just credit you.
I would trust amazon over ebay personally. I don't know if that is justified or not but have heard too many ebay scam and counterfeit stories. I have never been disappointed from any amazon purchase but have on many ebay ones. Ebay is more like going to the swap shop or yard sale than doing business through a business.

Ummm Chinese battery $2 fake sticker $0.10 sell for $10, so $10 - $2.10 = $7.90 profit per battery. Yeah I'd say its profitable sell 100 batteries you just made $790 profit on a $210 investment. And most likely they arw paying well below $2 ea for bulk orders of batteries.

Works just as well if not better than OEM. Love the travel charger it comes with too

I got my money back, so I decided to take the sticker off. Lo and behold the battery is faker than I thought. It's thinner than a real battery, so they just glue a piece of black plastic to it to make it thicker.
