I start the RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe again to do the same update I get ERROR [152]:IMAGE UPDATE ERROR with the option to Recover which gives me a black screen until I pull the USB connection.
Then I get a "Dead boot device no fastboot no Hboot and no sign of life with usb and charger.Adb won't detect my device. Pleas urgent advice.

What happens if you copy a PB99IMG.img rom on to the sdcard and then try to start phone in bit loader?
What is you're desire? AMOLED or SLCD? any other details that may help, where you buy it from and what was the original ROM and service provider, was it branded, did you make a gold card, what HBOOT did you have before the problem was it stock or CM7r2.....

It sounds like the HBOOT has been corrupted somehow. There is no way of fixing this yourself.
You will have to return it to HTC and see if they will fix it for you.
You could try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
I had a similar problem when I first got my SLCD. I installed a different HBOOT which showed a blank screen all the time. This process might work for you.
Just as a matter of interest, what exactly did you flash before it bricked?

Did you try to S-Off your device ?

Deadly serious.
You get a bootloader error when trying to flash a RUU. This means that the computer can't talk to the bootloader.
You say it vibrates every time you click power and vol down, which suggests that the bootloader isn't initialising at all.
Can you please answer my question regarding what you flashed before it bricked?

Hello,
i flashed my hboot back from ogxygen to default hboot, after
reboot i just saw a black screen. The leds are blinking green and orange if i put out the battery and if i insert it, the leds are orange.
If i start the desire the leds are not showing something and its still blackscreen. How i can repair it? =(
sry for bad english
i'm no expert but have you tried going in to the Bootload menu (power off phone, hold down the back button and power on holding both button down unlit phone starts up)?
Then if you can get in to the Bootloader screen you can then try to go to Recovery option or flash from your PC using ADB.
Have you made a NAND back up before you flashed your Hboot?
Yes i already did, but always blackscreen not vibrating or something like that
no i dont have a nand backup, why i need 1? someone could give me a link?
or make a backup and upload it?
if you connect phone to pc , is it recognized by PC?
if yes try to run an official RUU from shipped roms.

It is a bit late but check the md5 of the hboot you flashed, if it does not match I think you are pretty screwed otherwise it probably is still fixable.

i don't think you can, you have to take it back for repair.

If they find out that it was a rooted desire or that you caused the fault, they are happy to repair it but they will charge you big time. Somewhere around here someone named 200 euro i think. But you might get lucky and they repair it cost free, has also happened before.

Hi all, first post here!
Anyway, I have a hell of a sticky situation. My HTC Desire charger port has broken so I cant charge it, meaning it's dead and need to send it away asap because it has a week or so of warranty left. The problem is- it's rooted. I don't have a clue what it's rooted with as it's a second hand phone and I'm not zavvy on rooting at all so I'm completely stuck! Can anyone please help me?
To unroot it you need an RUU and for that you need a cable. If it doesn't turn on then fair enough. If it does turn on, boot into recovery and format the boot partition. It will then force it to just boot into the bootloader and sort of stall HTC while they fix the port. As long as you get the port fixed, I don't see much of a problem.

Well... all HTC have to do is get another battery. Pretty sure they're not out of stock lol. But seriously, send it in and see what they say. Like I said, if at least they fix the USB and don't touch the software, it'll be fine. But no doubt they will at least check the software at some point. Just give them some bull**** excuse to get it fixed.

Great idea. Run the RUU on your computer and get the ROM.zip out of the temp folder. Then rename it PB99IMG.zip and put it on the root of the SD card. Boot to bootloader, and let it flash.
As long as there is enough charge to run it..

And. ... can you enter at Hboot? (pushing Vol Down+Turn Off at same time)
He withdraws the batteries a time, and come back to putting. When you put it, you enter Hboot and do Clear Store. You will lose the information of the Rom, but perhaps start.

this is what happened... one of my friends has used superoneclick to root a LG device.. he has told this guy that you may be able to root the desire with the same tool, so he has tried it and screwed it up... when i plug the phone to the charger or the pc the green light comes up... i tried without the battery green and orange light were blinking... some shop guy has told that he can fix it but has asked a big amount... still can't come up with any ideas..
now there is a new issue... after creating a gold card and trying many things some how the phone is working... but the power button is not working.. have to plug it in to a power supply to get the screen... any idea?
also the sim is not getting detected and also the memory card

I'm a bit confused with this diagnostic mode?
If i remember correctly i was able to go into it with vol up + power but then after a battery pull it would reboot just fine........
Maybe as Lesicnik mentioned not so long back the volume button might be stuck or faulty hence pressing the power button will equal vol up+power and start diag mode.

qualcomm diagnostic mode happens when you f**k up the phone so bad that it doesnt know what else to do, and reverts to what i think is the backup firmware on the nand chip? not 100% sure. it usually results in the phone powering on but not showing anything on screen. but vibrates a few times depending on what the issue is. sometimes you can "blindboot" which is where you take a stock rom.zip from a ruu and place it on the sdcard and boot to bootloader. then by using time (ie waiting) and logic (when to try push volume up to update the rom+reboot) you can sometimes manage to restore the phone. as far as i am aware the guys over at the evo 3d forum are very advanced in how this mode actually functions. the htc sensation unbricking project, which helps people fix their phones after an attempt to s-on kills it was made with the help of the evo 3d guys knowledge. also i think jupuntobear s-off puts the phone into download mode before you do the "wire trick" to drop write security. so it is possible to fix this issue but it is quite a hard nut to crack.

Have already taken phone apart and checked all connections as my first thought was that something may have worked itself loose after being dropped or something.
Vol up + power and the phone buzzes/vibrates 3 times.
Managed to do a blind factory reset - vol down + power wait for a bit, then vol down etc, etc. After about 3-4 minutes I was able to push the soft buttons which light and vibrate. I am unable to do anymore than this due to usb debugging being off as I need to use adb to make a gold card and run a ruu. Thanks anyway.

do you know what network the phone was locked too? you could hunt for the offical ruu from that network with the 1.01.0002 hboot and try to blind boot that to restore the phone. if you can tell me the network its on i will help you hunt for the ruu 3 vibes is better than 5 as far i know. ive heard of people recovering from 3 vibes.
also, if you have access to another wildfire you can use that to make the goldcard and then use that on the damaged phone then it should run any ruu that has an equal or higher hboot ^^

The phone is locked to Vodafone UK. I've just spoken to my sister whose phone it was (she's not the most technically clued up of people) and she can't remember whether she upgraded to froyo or not. She's now got a GS2 and hasn't even done the official OTA update to ICS (and Touchwizzed Jellybean is on the horizon). So I'm betting its still on Eclair, but I can't be 100% sure. I've looked on the Vodafone UK site and the latest Wildfire software version is '2.24.161.2', which they are only giving out through an OTA. I'm not having much luck googling it either.
I don't have any access to another Wildfire, so the only thing I can think of is if I can find someone else who would be so kind as to make and upload a goldcard for me :fingers-crossed: (highly unlikely), otherwise I think the phone may be taking a trip to environphone (they give £20 for a working wildfire). I'll spend another couple of hours on it, seeing what I can come up with, but it's looking bleak at the moment .
