hey everyone I currently have XOOM Motorola folio case but I find it to be heavy and kind of thick.
It's do hard to pick out a case while browsing the internet cuz I can't feel it in my hands to see if I like it...can anybody help me with some recommendations?
I'm looking for something Leather, in the same style as the XOOM Motorola folio case (meaning the same openings) but maybe a little bit lighter or thinner would be awesome...i don't want to sacrifice the feeling of protection that I get from the folio case tho...
Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

Just a quick comment but I've tried a few cases and always gone
back to the Motorola folio case. It is a little bulkier than some cases
however it's also helped my Xoom survive drops to concrete floors on
more than one occasion From the cases I've tried none offers the
same level of protection, at the same price point.
I was running into the same problem when chosing a case online. I ended up testing some cases in a local store and decided to get the official portfolio case and I really love it.
I would second that other, less "bulky" cases don't offer the same level of protection. For a case that I can throw into my bagpack and doesn't leave me worrying about my Xoom getting damaged, I think the Portfolio case is rather slim, compared to heavy-protection alternatives like the Otterbox defender.
But if you don't really need that level of protection, you could the try the AYL Slim Leather case, which gets some pretty good reviews in here:

Zoo-Gue Xoom Case
I got this case shortly after getting my xoom, and LOVE it. great protection, doesn't add much bulk, you can prop it up at ANY angle, and it's inexpensive. I really like the fact that you can angle it however you want, so you're not limited to a preset 3 angles. when you want to throw it in your bag, the back can flip around to cover the screen, and the velcro straps will keep it in place. I like everything about it.

Best Buy would only have the Motorola Folio case. They don't have any other options for Xoom other than slip cases.

What difference of Acase Slim Leather Folio Case and Original motorola case ?
I bought a cheap leather folio case from ebay. It was in the bin 2 days later as it offered little to no protection except maybe from fingerprints and looked horrible. I must admit the one you saw on amazon looks nice, but I feel happier knowing that the motorola one is more sturdy.

i am currently using this one. http://www.myincipio.com/Motorola-X...CRYLIC-Hard-Shell-Case-with-Silicone-Core.asp
the feel, build and quality are brilliant!
they also have a leather version case for the xoom, you could try that.
the price might be a bit steep comparing to other products i have seen on amazon, but the brand promises and delivers quality.
i also have a case for my hd2 from them, best i ever had!
I've gone for this one as it seems to get great reviews

Seems decent for the price.
I got the Belkin Verve for Xoom. Love it, very compact and firm fitting but seems I may have bought the last available from Amazon as has now disappeared. Highly recommend if you can find one.

I got 2 of these for both my Xooms.
They are heavy, but well worth the protection. Makes your Xoom look and feel like an M1 tank. It has survived drops onto the street and kept my Xoom in perfect shape.
Has a nice shell cover that snaps to the back and acts as a stand.

My biggest issue with other XOOM cases is that most don't accommodate for the charging port. This one you just lay flat, and plug it in.

What is about Viva Motorola XOOM Carbono for Xoom. Anyone give me suggestion?

Try to get a idea as to what the most popular case option will be with our Xooms. Personally I have the Folio case right now, but the more I use to the less I like it. I'm currently thinking about a gel case with a sleeve combo but im not sure. The damn thing feels so good in my hand without a case. How about a screen protector? Im currently using it w/o just because I hate the drag created and love the look of the naked screen.
I have the Folio case right now and am not a fan. I'm waiting for something like the below Apple case to come out. A coworker has one for her iPad and it's very light and comfortable.

That looks sweet! I cant't tell by the pic but can the power button in the back be accessed easily?
I saw a leather case that held an ipad in it at starbucks today, and I enjoyed what I saw in regards to usefulness. I would prefer something more solid and protective of my xoom. I'm sure within a few months there will be all kinds of third party cases that will satisfy many of our requirements.

It doesn't look like you can charge the zoom with the case closed. Do you know if you can?
Looks nice. Can't wait to read some reviews. I did have the folio case from Verizon/Motorola and it sucked. Took it back so I'm going commando now with my Xoom.

They are making a Xoom cased from Zoogue shipping March. $49.99
Looks a lot nicer than the portfolio case.
That case looks nice ^^^ I have the folio case now and I really like it, but I would be willing to switch if a better case in that style comes out.
A nice portfolio style case would be nice.
It looks nice but I hate products that display their name/logo that much
I am waiting for an Otterbox. It adds ALOT of weight, but I feel it protects the device.

I just bought my Xoom two days ago and still need to find a case for it. I hear that the portfolio case scratches the tablet and can't charge unless it is open, so that is out. The highly recommended otterbox is just way too massive for my taste, regardless of the protection it provides. I don't want one that relies on Velcro to stand it up. Ideally, all of the ports need to be accessible and I want it to protect both the front and back. Something like this iPad case. www .alltouchtablet. com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/ipad-case.jpg
Trident has a case coming very soon that will be the best bet. I have the portfolio case and the gel case. The portfolio never scratched mine. Most of the time I keep mine in the gel skin because it can be used with the dock. I was looking at the otterbox to but decided to wait for the trident case. I have one on my G2X and i love it.

After looking at several cases, I went with the Motorola portfolio despite its flaws. To address these (case scratching and charging) I used a razor knife to remove the two small plastic tabs on the lower section of the case back and I added a charging hole. The removal of the tabs was suggested in another thread and it was a great idea. For access to the charging port, I heated a nut driver on the stove and used it to melt a hole about 3/8-inch diameter where the charging port is. Melting gave me clean edges and the size allows the charging plug to fit completely into the port.
I've used this case for almost 2 months now, with these minor mods, and I'm really pretty happy with it. I've not seen anything else which has made me want to change.
Best wishes,
Ross

This is what I decided to go with after crawling the internet for answers for a couple of hours. It should be delivered today and I can't wait to try it out.
I also went with the Incipio, I had the Moto Portfolio for 2 months, I liked it at first but grew to hate it. I didn't mind opening it to charge as much, but It was just akward to hold the device with the flap folded. I ended up always taking off the case when I used the Xoom.

This is the case I'm going with as well. Thanks, didn't know about it. Not liking the folio case.
I still think the original portfolio has the best functions. But I decided against it because of the comments on scratches.
So out comes this. Same look and function as the official portfolio but it's leather with microfibre lining. And it's freaking cheap now. Get it while you can.
I have had my zooge case now for a couple of months and am very happy with it. yes it uses the velcro but I am not sure what you are scared about with it.

This case looks to be the exact same as the Verizon Xoom leather portfolio case that sells for $30 more but is black lined instead of tan. I have the Verizon version all black and to charge in stand requires folding down front flap and dropping flap behind charger unit before placing in charger.

Has anyone bought either of these or been able to play around with one? I've pretty much narrowed it down to these two for my new Tab, any input (if another is better) would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Does the rooCASE have a good build feel to it? Like does it feel like plasticy leather or real leather? Just concerned about the velcro becoming soft over time and not working too, opposed to the CaseCrown's little insert in the back.
I have owned the slim Roocase for three weeks or so, but stopped using it when I read elsewhere in this forum (just do a search) that it discolors the back of the tab for good. It seems that the interior suede lining is the culprit. I have since switched to the Aurum carbon fiber-like folio case with a microfiber lining. I will post my impressions of that on soon.
Edit: Here's the thread where this is discussed:

Yeah that's s good price from what it came down from. Also that's pretty uch the same case as the Pyro case. From looking at several cases, there only seems to be actually a few different styles of case. And from there on, its all copies and bootlegs haha. None the less I have one of those cases from amazon on order. Ill do a review on it when I get it.

+1 on the AYL case at Amazon. I paid $25 delivered and I'm pleased with the case. No funky smells, has cutout to access the dock connector, charge port, etc. while in the case and with the case closed. The case will take a bit to "loosen up". Recommended.

I had the Motorolla portfolio case first, it's ok but after a while it started to slip a lot.
Then I went to the ZooGue case, http://www.zoogue.com/products/XOOM-Case-Genius-Black-Leather-.html
I was a little skeptical of a velcro setup, but it really helps keep it stable. It has the cutouts for charging etc. You can easily move it to pretty much any angle you want very quickly, and it will stay there.
Just got my ayl case and i love the slimness of it and the way it feels when folded with the case behind the screen compared with the plastic bulk of the moto one. Definitely recommend it! Oh and open charging ports definitely a big plus ;-)

AYL case
received mine today after reading good feedback over here. Quality is top notch, would highly recommend to all Xoom owners. The only thing I was unhappy about is postage costs ( $31 and it's not as if I am living in Africa or the case weighs a few kilos...)
So if you can get it posted at a reasonable price - go for it, defo the best case for Xoom

After contacting the seller got a half price refund on postage. Excellent service and product
I can say stay away from the official Moto case - about the only thing I like about it is that it protects the device well when it's closed.
coming from the otterbox one I like the Motorola one as its smaller and lighter, however it does suffer from slipping and I'm not keen on the fact it covers the ports on the bottom. The device also slips down in the case when you fold the bottom section down.
Think they should put groves in the side of the unit so cases have something to grip on.
I ended up ordering the AYL case from Amazon after reading the comments here. It is nice and thin, but sturdy. Fits the Xoom well. I highly recommend it.
Hey guys...does the ayl case allow for docking on the moto dock while still on? I have the zoogue case, like it a lot but i would like to be able to dock while the case is on....
There are some nice gel cases on ebay
I just replaced my original xoom portfolio case with the AYL case. I think it's a great value. The fit is excellent, and the current version has a cutout for the charging and usb/HDMI ports.

I'm actually happy with the faux leather one from Motorola
Long time lurker - first post.
I picked up a great case for my Xoom from Zenus Cases USA on their website. For me it's the perfect low-profile case for the Zoom. Nice leather, great fit, and has a fold back feature to prop the Xoom up. A bit pricey yes, but now over 50% off at $39 plus shipping (& tax for Cali).
Zoogue case genius is great. It's a bit thick, but it's very capable, fits like a glove, and has all the right holes in all the right places. My wife has a Motorola case that fits very poorly and blocks a lot of spots that need to be open (i.e. camera lens) so maybe see how well a motorola case fits before buying one if that's the direction you go.
Throw my vote for an otterbox. Tablet has fallen from high heights and nothing broken.
