Hi, I'm searching a music widget for the nexus which works with the standard music player and can show album art.
Pure Music Widget unfortunately doesn't (yet), searching several threads and the market didn't help.
Thanks for some tips.
A
bumo in case anyone else know- i am pretty sure there used to be one... need to remember it... anyone?
****edit**** Phantom music control used to work- https://market.android.com/details?id=cz.jhg.musiccontrolwidget&feature=search_result not sure if it still does.
The widgets that come with the iSyncr app work with the Google Music app and can show album art. Only issue I've noticed is that the widgets seem to be sensitive to how the album art picture is actually attached/embedded in the music file. Most of my MP3s show the album art just fine but there are several that have album art and the iSyncr widgets can't show the album art for some reason.
These are the only widgets I could find that work fairly well with the Google Music app. I tried several others but none of them worked as well as the iSyncr ones. (And it was luck that I discovered these because I use iSyncr to sync playlists from iTunes to my Galaxy Nexus, so the widgets were already on my phone).
Would be awesome if the Pure Music dev could get his Pure Music widget to work with Google Music but he's posted that he can't do it until Google releases the necessary APIs, so that may not ever happen.
Just found out tonight that Pure Music Widget got an update (almost 2 weeks ago, now) that makes it compatible with ICS/Google Music app.
Very good news, IMHO!
but still it dont work with google music cloud service. I cant find any widget that works with the cloud album art.....

Yes, and I'm sorry to say that this situation is unlikely to change. Everything I've read since the Google Music service started has indicated that this is Google's fault; they haven't released the API for the Google Music service and this prevents devs from being able to add in this functionality.
So it's Google's fault, not the devs of the various Android music apps.

Try a different Music Player
http://www.droid-life.com/2012/01/17/cyanogenmod-9-music-player-released-for-download/#more-58688
this is the cyanogenmod 9 music player and well, it is still in beta.
However, it's very much like the actual Google Music app, but I think that this one is slightly better. The 4x2 widget for this app also shows the album art as well.

+1 this.
all the widgets, 4x1, 4x2, 3x1, and even 1x1 have album art. CM9 Music is a really nice improvement on the stock music app. if you are into the transparent look, you can also get a version with transparent widgets over in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21843241#post21843241

Did anybody else notice in the preview videos that the Music Beta app is the only music player on the phone? I don't currently own a phone that is supported by the Music Beta app but I thought when you download this app, it lives alongside the default music player, not replace it? But it looks like in ICS the old music player no longer exists and the Music Beta player is the default one?
Yeah. I dont know why you'd want the old one anyway... the new one is much much much better.
Why not? It can play local and cloud music files. It's the only one I use on my phone and tablet.
Just curious what Google's plans are for Music Beta going forward. If it's now the default music app on Android, then it's less likely that Music Beta is going to end up being canceled like Wave or Buzz. So you guys can confirm that on existing devices, Music Beta is an app that's in addition to the default music app?

I think it's integrated into the music app itself. I'm just beginning to upload my music to it now and, I think it's something i should have done from the beginning. As much as I switch devices, it can be nice to have.
They live side-by-side on my Continuum, but that's with adding Music Beta as a Market App, instead of a stock app.
You can remove the old one with root explorer on gingerbread. It's not needed. no point in have 2 apps, with one that does the functions of both.
Google Music is a Gapp that sits right next to GMail.
If a company doesn't want it, they'll use the AOSP music source, or load up their own.
You can disable Google Music syncing in the settings, or just use a different music app (in which there are plenty.)

Any one found a way to sync Google Music with the HTC Music Player?
Don't want to install two music players... This should be something HTC needs to think about!
It's not possible. You have to install the Google music app for streaming.

At a guess, google want people to use their app and only their app for a service they are providing for free. I wish it looked better though as it is very basic. If it looked like player pro, that'd be nice

Yes but since HTC makes a phone for "U". This should be in it
beats audio works with everyplayer which is great
If you set some of your music to be available off line then Google Music syncs it to your phone. You can then set the folder it syncs it too to be visible so the music then shows up in all your music apps.
Only problem with this is google sync doesn't embed the album artwork and I also think it renames the files and strips the MP3 tags leaving you with just a bunch of files ....unless this has changed
Si
We can only hope Google will release the music api. Until then there is an unoffical api.

Sense 4.0 music player only adds installed music apps like Google Music or Spotify into the UI
Google music is by far my preferred app to stream my music, but as much as I like it I hate the fact that the widget does not display the album art. I tried Pure Music Widget in hopes to circumvent the problem but all it displays is a picture of a blank cd.
Are there any hacks or alternatives that could fix this? And by alternatives I mean not an entirely new based cloud service but something that ties into Google Music.
Offline Music Importer in the play store (not free despite listed as free) will allow you to use google music tunes in other apps, not very intuitive though. I think I read the paid version of double twist can see offline google music also.

True however for me what's the point of having streaming music if I have to download to my phone. I was looking for something that can stream from my Google account and display the album art in the widget

The widget doesnt show album art because Google didnt design it that way. Plain & simple.
Yes I know that which is why I was asking if there was a hack or an alternative app that ties into Google Music to achieve that function.
OK so I'm getting kinda cheesed off with Google play music and the album art displayed. So I got 3 id3 apps, audiotagger 4.0.0, itag 1.50, and pimp my music 1.49. I'm trying to get a decent high resolution album art to stick on my MP3 albums. Iv used all 3 to try to remove any album art that's seems to be stuck to the MP3 files and then used all 3 to set the album art I want either from searching on the internet or select a picture saved to my gallery. I even went as far as deleting some 1156 pictures of the same low res album art which keeps reappearing. So for a while Google play music will show the high res album art and its great but after a while it goes back to low resolution album art which is all pixilated and stuff.
So anyone know how this could be sorted out?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
I was able to do it by modifying the cover art from my PC. Opened Play in my web browser and went to My Music. Then picked the album and modified the album info. It let me change to a better pic. So far, the higher-res pics seem to have stuck. Hope they don't spontaneously revert.

OK great album seems to be sticking now, that particular album I got up on Google play music server and on my device.
I just can't get id3 genre tag to change for the on device music. I did already try with Google play music and its showing correct for what's 'in the cloud' but on device copy won't change, its being a little bastard. I tried the same 3 apps as mentioned before. Any ideas? Maybe they don't work so well with jelly bean?

I deleted the copy from my device and just downloaded it from Google play server and all is well. I get ocd about my music lol

so what do you use?
btw how do you get miui apk file? i googled it but theres so many links ...

I'm willing to bet someone's gunna be mad at this being in this thread, but whatever....
I LOVE playerpro . By far my favorite.

THIS is mainly why I use playerpro. Artist pic and album pic are completely customizable. Via folder, web search blah blah. BEAUTIFUL. Oh also download noozxiod EIZO rewire pro ... and don't use or enable the playerpro dsp manager. Have fun

i used to use playerpro but walkman's ui is just too beautiful
Noozy.

Can anyone link me to walkman player? Sounds interesting and I can't find it in the Play Store =S
power amp pro
Noozy .. a little unreliable but the sound is worth it.
I love the sound of noozy, but its so damn finicky n unreliable that it is almost unusable. Almost. Like I m 99.5% decided to switch back to poweramp. But then I listen to it, n sighhhhh......cant do it. Y noozy Y?
ZPlayer - it's just sexy. The text only styling of Zune on the homescreen with a faded background artist. Built-in equalizer, bass booster, and virtualizer. Do you like the bass up when listening to BassNectar or Cookie Monsta but don't want as much bass when listening to your acoustic album? ZPlayer has you covered! If toggled, it can select and equalizer type based on the genre of song you pick. It will import your playlists, has an album art downloader, bio for your artists, and gives a list of similar artists. Several widgets are also available. You like podcasts? ZPlayer has that covered too. It plays videos. It has Last.FM settings. It even has lockscreen controls. Give it a try.
noozy, met this week to update my radio, since I'm using and enjoying it more and more.
I didn't see "Noozy" on the Play Store. Link anyone?
I use google music with the beats/dsp and love the sound :]

It got removed for copying Zplayer, you may be able to find the apk with a google search.
Mixzing Media Player Upgraded.
Def the best music player I've used.
The features that make me love it are..
Has automatic album cover downloads
Lyrics
Lockscreen player (which works with stock CM10 and with the rom I'm currently using; check sig)
beautiful simple widget selections:
1x1 no album art
2x2 with album art
3x3 with album art
4x1 no album art
4x2 with album art
4x4 with album art
I've used others but this is the one I have used since my Nexus One.
There are other apps that support Mixzing (as well as other music players) that you can shake to change songs, etc
