GOOD DAY!!
im from phillipines
i have a HTC Wildfire S A510e S-on(GSM)
hboot-1.08.0099
radio-7.53.39.03M
android version:2.3.3
(i have a pink line on bootmode saying LOCKED OWW)
i dont have a update here thru FOTA so i try updating it thru the thread [TUTORIAL][S-ON][GSM][HOWTO] Upgrade to 2.3.5 but im having error 170...then i try updating it thru the ARUwizard that the thread suggested but im still having error 120 that my battery is below 30% and that's strange because my battery is 100% fully charged..
please help..how can i update it and unlock my bootloader
with hboot hboot-1.08.0099 you are ready to use htcdev.com tutorial with fastboot.
Did you try to Pull out the Battery and take it back in? Maybe this could help.
Thanks 4 the answer..i'll try it asap..

brother if you are done with htcdev process then conect your device to your windows pc in charge only mode
then go to run
type
cmd
press enter
locate your sdk tools file (if you followed as per htcdev then it will be , cd c:\Android\sdk blah blah\tools(and hope that you pasted that Unlock_code.bin in that folder))
then write fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
and you done
question!!
I cant find the 3 files that is needed to put on c;\android\ pls help..
its because i cant download the android sdk platform tools..its says the "not installed" what seems the problem???
Finally i rooted my phone!! Yeheyyy

There's no solution yet for an s-off unless u use xtc clip.
Check this tutorial and use your reading abilities. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21272740
This is to root, install clockwork recovery and to install superuser. Good luck
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using xda premium
you dont need to be s-off to unstall your custom installed apps on your WFS...you just need titanium backup...and to use that you need to have superuser apps and search for the bin file then put in on x:\system\su.bin on your sd card...
to install clockworkmod recovery just google "autoinstaller for htc wildfire s unlocked boot loader" you will find a software like htc root tools v2
it will help you install it
if we have unlocked the phone with htc dev then the fastboot method in bootloader mode wont work as s-on is still on..
Edit : rooted .. thanks xda and to all the supporters

Hello ALL
I have just got a HTC wildfire s (on tesco ) and am going to it unlocked tomorrow,so my qustion is will this unlock the bootloader
or turn s off
Thanks for reading
If you are going to use an XTC Clip to unlock the SIM, it will also unlock the bootloader, at least, it did with mine
Thanks for your reply, I will be taking it to a shop to get it unlocked so I don't know what they will use to unlock it I will most Probably root the phone when it's unlocked

why don't you just unlock it using HTCdev's method?

You don't need to s-off it, just root it once you unlocked bootloader.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using XDA App
You have unlocked your bootloader, now you have to install clockworkmod on your device, look in the forums because there is a thread about it (can't remember where) once you did install clockwork you can install different roms by going into the recovery mode. In the recovery mode you can select a zip file and install your rom you wanted... No s-off needed, just an unlocked bootloader, there are also several root scripts

I unlocked my boot loader, with S-ON..and i tried rooting the phone through Htc Supertool(said ROOTED)..it has installed/pushed the Superuser file into the phone..but hasn't really rooted the phone.. So whenever i try using apps that need a 'Rooted' phone..it says that Superuser has denied permissions..i just dont know what to do..Help for me would be totally appreciated as well..

Hi, I have a VM Wildfire S that I just returned to stock on with unlocked bootloader, s-off, and finally rooted it . The all in one utility from rezo69 works pretty well to get it rooted.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1697985 The only issue i had with it was the recovery that flashes during part of the root process wont boot on my phone. So after getting the root files on my sd card I had to flash another recovery to be able to get into it(unofficial cwm 5.0.2.6 works well, thanks alquez). Also the su binary installed is out of date and wont update for me so I had to go to the chainsdd su website and download a recovery flashable zip for the binary. Some patience and googleing you should be able to figure it out.
Thanks
Thanks a lot guys, I got it rooted I tried your tool GuitarFreak12 but sadly it diden't work :/ i downloaded that custom recovery sugested by bobdarkside and then used a flashable root from the user rgsgroup2005, and that finaly worked. also fixed another problem; my CWM on my last wildfire s froze up when i tried to flash anything. This one worked.
Thanks a lot guys!
Flash CWM (http://download.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-marvelc.img)
HBOOT>Fastboot
Code:
fastboot flash recovery /path/to/recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.8-marvelc.img
Flash http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/Superuser-3.2-arm-signed.zip and http://downloads.androidsu.com/superuser/su-bin-3.1.1-arm-signed.zip (You must flash BOTH)
You are now rooted.
i rooted by using clockmod recovery (s-off) without unlocking the bootloader.so now i can install custom roms or not?

You need either a unlocked bootloader or S-Off to root a device.
If you are rooted properly then you can certainly flash Custom ROMs.
Before that go to ClockworkMod Recovery and take a complete Nandroid Backup of your current Stock ROM so that you can flash back Stock when you need.

can i install custom rom without unlocking the bootloader or i have to unlock the bootloader?
You need a rooted device to flash Custom ROM. To get rooted you need to unlock the bootloader or make S-Off.
You said that you are rooted the device with S-off. That' enough you can flash any ROM.
Still if you are not sure you rooted or not just refer this guide:

i cannot unlock bootloader because kernal version 2.6.35.10 ruu is not available on htcdev
Press <power> + Vol Down type what is displayed on your HBOOT.
If your Hboot version is 1.08.xxxx or later version you may skip the RUU Process and try to unlock the bootloader.
Follow the guide, it will help you to root.
I have Hboot Version 1.03.0000

You need to Update the bootloader thru HTCdev.com
Follow the steps carefully and patiently and update the bootloader. For RUU you have to choose according to your country/region and carrier, which matches with. But be sure to chose the right one.
You need to have installed HTC Sync, Android SDK and Java Runtime on your PC, those links are available with Guide itself.
After updating the bootloader, you need to root the device. Then install ClockworkMod Recovery, which will help you to take the Nandroid Backup of your STOCK ROM.
Thereafter if you need, can install LINK2SD which will help you to install all your apps on your SD Card. So that phone's internal memory will be increased and you can see a considrable fast with the device.

as i told u my kenral verion ruu is not listed on htc dev i have already installed clockworkmod reccovery and lind2sd
i just want to install custom rom
all guides of installing custom roms says that u have to unlock bootloader to install custom rom
If you are S-OFF, then you can just install a ROM. There is no need to unlock the bootloader.
is there a way to unlock bootloader without htcdev
is there r chances to hard brick my phone while flashing custom rom?

Hi,
Since your bootloader says S-OFF, you can try any custom ROM.
Just refer the below link, If you like it just download the ROM and Flash it. See all the features listed there. It's not available with the STOCK ROM!....

Hi Everybody
I found this guide to root the HTC Desire HD.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2221039
Started of with Hboot: went all the way through to click next to start and i get ERR[191]: Rom not supported.
checked my hboot version got this:
*** LOCKED (OOW) ***
ACE PVT SHOP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0029
MICROP-4038
RADIO-26.14.04.28_M
eMMC-boot
DEC 22 2011.14.28.19
I have rom version: 3.12.405.1
any ideas why i cant get past err191 ?
You've already got the updated hboot hence why its says 2.xxx.029 and also says locked. The word locked should have been abvious if you read that guide...
Ok so now you need to unlock your boot loader. You need to goto htcdev and follow the steps for getting unlock token then follow the steps that will be sent to the email address you signed up with.
Next flash custom recovery, I recommend only 4ext.
Then either flash super user zip found somewhere on xda (search)
Or flash custom rom in 4ext then flash boot.img found inside custom rom zip file.
Instructions for those steps are here on dhd forums just go find them.

Tried HTC Bootloader but that didnt' work so tried the AAHK2 and after a downgrade it rooted it.
Now I assume that if I want ICS on the DHD I simply download the ROM and slap it on the SDCard the hboot to install it?

Well putting the ROM file on the SD card is correct but you'll need a custom recovery to install it.

Hey all members of this forum.
So, I am a newbie in rooting. The last phone I rooted was the Samsung Galaxy Y and it was pretty darn easy! All I had to do was download the files on the device itself.
Now, as you might have guessed, I am using the HTC Wildfire S and rooting it is a pain!
Here's what I have done till now:
1, Unlocked bootloader via htcdev.com
Now this is what my bootloader shows right now:
***UNLOCKED***
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.09.0099
MICROP-0451
RADIO-7.57.39.15M
Now, I tried rooting via this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195275
However, when I place the PG76IMG.zip file in the root folder of my SD card, and open bootloader, this happens:
MODEL ID INCORRECT!
UPDATE FAILED!
PRESS <POWER> TO REBOOT.
I have tried this a lot of times but every time the same thing happens. :/
Please can anyone guide me to obtain S-OFF or root without having to obtain S-OFF? I really need your help :/
P.S: I found this process to root via the HTC SuperTool v3. Should I give it a try? Will I be able to install custom ROMs after that (specifically this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183509) ??
PLEASE HELP!!
