[Q]efs backup - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

hi i have done an error i have restore from idraive and google all contact.
so now i have many double contact.
how i can delete all contact and resinvronize it only from googòe?
tks

I haven't used Idrive but you need to go in to your google account and see if your google account has all the duplications in it. If so you can use the Contact manger and the Find Duplicates button to remove them.
If your google account does not have duplicates then its syncing them off idrive and you should go in to the contacts app on your phone and press the menu button (looks like 3 dots stacked on each other at the bottom right. Here you get the option for "Contacts to Display" and you should hopefully be able to uncheck the idrive ones.
As I said I have never used Idrive so I am not sure the above will work but its what I would do first

contacts save and sync but dont appear in people

Hi all,
I am running a completely stock HTC Desire and I have a really strange annoying problem.
The problem is if I add a new contact, it adds the person, as when I am on "Phone" and tap the numbers to spell their name they appear.
Also if I go into google mail and contacts, I can see the contact.
What I cant see is the contact in the "People" application.
This is really frustrating and I was wondering if anyone had any idea how I can fix this? Just to note, I am adding contacts setting them to my google group exactly the same as I have always done. Im not sure when this started to happen.
Thanks for your time.
When adding the contact via phone, are you ensuring the contact type at the top is a Google one?
When adding the contact via Gmail, are you ensuring the contact is added to teh 'My Contacts' group?
Try this...
Go into your Contacts.
Hit your Menu key and select Display Options.
Select your GMAIL account.
Make sure there are checkmarks in each of the lines, especially "All Other Contacts.
Click Done.

Multiples in contacts

We have 3 Evo's in my house and all 3 of us have the same problem - Multiples in the contact list.
Any idea how to cure or prevent this?
On my phone - the contacts are only supplied by google when I sign into my account. I do not import any contacts or have them coming from any other sources.
Thanks, Jack

While your contact list is open, hit "Menu", then "View", and make sure everything is unchecked except for "Google Contacts", then hit "Done". If that doesn't work, go to "Menu" from the home screen", hit "Applications", then "Manage Applications", then "All", scroll down to "Contacts Storage" and hit "Clear Data". Then sync your Gmail account again. This is what I have to do with my calendar sometimes when events show up twice. Let me know if it works for you.......
I know you said you were not getting contacts from any other source, but if you have signed into htc facebook that will try to find matches. If you go into the contact do you have an option to link that contact?

Yes and I'm faa, iliar with the facebook connections. This goes much deeper than that. I'm talking 15 or so of the same person in the contacts list.
Part of it might have been from My Lookout, but I haven't even been using that for quite a while.

Thank You very much for your help. I have done what you suggested - but I know that won't fix my problem as I have wiped my phone dozens of times in the last month playing with new ROMs and I only let google sync my contacts upon a fresh install of a rom. So I know this won't fix my problem. Thank You very much for taking the time to respond though. I really do appreciate it.

I know this sounds dumb, but did you check your Google contacts? Like you I played with roms a lot and I take off auto sync immediately. But sometimes before you can change those settings, the contacts will sync BACK to Google; duplicated contacts and all.
If you find that's the case, you can merge duplicate contacts when managing your contacts on your desktop using Gmail.
At one point, it fudged all of my groups, duplicated and even removed contacts. Luckily I have a backup file on my sdcard and pc that I was able to use.

Again - I really appreciate the help.
I have done the merge duplicates in gmail on the computer. I just installed a fresh rom and let it download my contacts from google only, yet I have multiples of almost all of my contacts. It has gotten better than it used to be somehow. In a quick glance I only noticed no more than 5 of a single contact. I also noticed that the multiples appear to be from accounts that have more than one phone number in them. Like if I have a home phone, a cell phone, a fax phone and an alternate - I will end up with 4 different contacts for that person.
When on ur phone and in contacts scroll over look at links to contact. There is a place that looks like a link to a chain that us either whole or broken. If connected it will link all the contacts with same name and vice versa for the unlinked. Hope that helps. That's for sense roms. If aosp rom they should consolidate on there own with use from what I've seen

[Q] Custom ROM that will update Facebook status for phone contacts only

Hi,
I'm a bit of a custom rom newbie, so please be gentle!
I am currently using stock 2.3 on my unbranded DHD, however it is rooted and has radio and Eng S-off (I hope).
What I am looking for:
I want to be able to tap the 'phone' button on my home screen and view my contacts, and for any contacts that I have linked to a Facebook account I would like to see their profile picture and get updates.
Currently when I sync my Facebook account with my phone, no matter what settings I change, nor whether I use the Facebook app or the Facebook for HTC app, it syncs ALL of my Facebook friends to the phone and adds them to the list under 'phone'. Once this has happened, tapping 'phone will bring up my recent call list at the top, however if I want to find a contact that hasn't recently been called I have to scroll through all of my phone contacts and my Facebook contacts in one long list.
It may seem petty, but I don't want to have to go through the 'People' app to access my contacts - there's a giant 'phone' button taking up real estate on my home screen and I want to use it!
Does anyone know of a Custom Rom with the functionality to either choose which Facebook contacts to sync, or some sort of work around for this?
Any help appreciated,
Grim.
im running stock-ROM too and my phone one shows the facebook status of only my contacts.
Its an option when adding you account to the phone.
Try deleting your account, and adding it again. it'll give you 3 options.
1 - Sync All facebook contacts
2 - Sync facebook contacts that are on the phone (or something like that)
3 - Dont Sync.
Just choose the 2nd.
As for a custom ROM that does this, well im not sure, but i think most of them will be the same since its facebook for HTC Sense that Syncs its.
And to make SURE you have ENG and radio S-OFF, in bootloader, make sure you have
'ACE PVT ENG S-OFF'
at the top.
And your CID is 111111 (not sure how many one's) in the System Info choice.
Most of the custom roms will sync your contacts, when you first flash it. In facebook it will ask you which type of sync you want, choose only contacts you have on the phone. Some still won't show up, either because the name is a bit different then their facebook name.
There is a way to link up the contacts facebook didn't already link, but I'm still trying to remember. Ill get back to you

Hi, thanks for your replies guys.
Ok I just tried exactly what you said - I opened the Facebook app and entered my email and password for the first time since I updated to 2.3. The app gave me the 3 choices just as you said it would, I chose the second option to sync only data for my contacts. I then exited the app and went back to my home screen, tapped the 'phone's button (at the bottom of the screen) and it brought up my recent calls and Lo and behold a few of them with accounts that auto-linked showed their Facebook pics.
However, when I scroll down past my recent calls and into the a-z of my contacts, the list includes most of my Facebook friends - which include people whose numbers are definitely not in my contact list.
For completeness I went into 'accounts and sync' under settings and deleted my Facebook sync account. I then chose to add an account but chose 'facebook for HTC sense' (as opposed to just Facebook), entered my email and password and it did exactly the same thing as the Facebook app.
Can anyone have a play with theirs and see if It's the same, or suggest a work around for this?
Any help appreciated.

This is happening because your phone has already synced those contacts you.didn't originally want with Google so they will always re download no matter how many times you delete the fb account or which options you choose again.
Press your big phone button that you want to use. Then press log button on bottom right. Move slider at bottom to far left. You should now be in people. From there press menu> view and choose the options you want. You can include the top button which says only those with numbers if you want.
Hope this gives you what your looking for.

That sounds strange, but plausible - Is there any way for me to view / change this synced account? I've logged into my gmail account and I don't have any contacts listed there?

Unfortunately it doesnt by changing these options it will only show either all of my facebook contacts plus my phone contacts or just my phone contacts.
It seems to me like the option in the facebook app to sync only the info for my phone contacts is broken.
I wish that I could find out where the actual data was being held on the phone so that maybe I could copy all the facebook contacts over and then edit the list to only include the ones that I want to link to my phone contacts.
If I understood correctly, what You are trying to achieve is to have only Your phone contacts displayed, but with images from facebook? If so, all You have to do (as stated before) is turn off facebook accounts in contacts, menu view, but link your phone and facebook contacts (if the names are the same, sense should have offered You to link those already). By default, contacts that are linked and have pictures both in the phone and facebook account should use facebook pictures. You can change this by opening a contact, pressing shain links icon in the right top corner of the phone, then pressing the image in the top left corner, and making a selection You want. By unchecking facebook accounts in Your View option in contacts manu, You will have all the pictures from facebook for linked contacts, but won´t see any contacts what are not in Your phone or gmail account whichever You use.

Can't edit Google contacts on phone? Halp!

Hi guys. I am having trouble editing or adding info to my contacts.
I have google contacts synced and am only viewing those in my contacts. When I go to edit a contact, like adding a phone number or changing an existing number, I press the save button and it's like nothing happens. I can't press the back button or menu button. If I hit the home button, it takes me to the home screen but if I go back into contacts, it's like its stuck on the contact I was trying to edit. The only thing that functions is the Cancel button, which maddeningly asks if I'd like to discard my changes. If I do that, it simply discards my changes and the info I attempted to add vanishes.
If I go to gmail and edit the contact there, no problem. It syncs to my phone and all is well.
Why can't I edit contacts via the phone itself?
NVM, problem appears to be haxsync related but I still can't edit contacts that are linked to haxsync.
I don't use haxsync but here's an idea: Make sure that when you are viewing your contacts from your phone-that you are actually viewing the entry of the "google account", (and not your haxsync account, or other)
To test this, open Contacts, click on the bottom left Options button, scroll down and select "Contacts to Display". Click on your google account name, and then your will be viewing your google account records only, and you should be able to edit those from your phone...
Let me know what happens.
Some related background: You can't edit a facebook account entry from your phone - even if it is joined with a google account entry of the same name. When you display a contact who is both a google account and facebook contact- (depending what your settings are for "accounts to display") the same contact might have multiple sub-screens: eg. the google one which is editable, and facebook one- which is not.

Help me get my contacts straight.

Here is what I'm trying to do. I would like the "contacts" app to display only the contacts that i have saved to my Google account. I would like those contacts to have their pictures imported from Facebook. If there are contacts with names that don't match their Facebook name exactly, I'd like to be able to link them up.
What is happening right now is that if I only sync existing contacts with Facebook and/or Haxsync, I end up with a LOT of missing pictures. When I "sync all", I end up with all of my Facebook friends populating my contacts app.
Maybe I'm doing it in the wrong order? I assume I can remove my Facebook and Haxsync apps (or clear data), then clear data in the contacts app to start from scratch. What are the steps I need to take from there/
1. Only Google contacts displayed.
2. Contact pictures populated from Facebook.
3. Ability to join names without exact match.
Thank you in advance for the help.
You can sync all with the Facebook app, then join the contacts for the profile pictures within each contact (there is a merge/join contacts option). For names that don't match, they let you manually choose whoever you want to merge, so names don't have to be the same. After that is all done, go to your contacts and click the menu button, there should be an option "Contacts to Display". Hit that, then select your Google account. Enjoy

The other part is that if you hit the menu button in contacts and select "Contacts to display" (you may have to scroll the list down), you then can go down to "Custom List" and click the gear icon to the right. That will allow you to select which contacts display on your phone.
