please help me
I try about 3 roms and when I try to install new app the device reboot..
what should I do ??? please help me X_x
Which roms did you use?
Model: Wildfire S A510e
Recovery: unofficial CWM
Rom: JxMatteo_ROM_V1. 1 with Link2sd - OC - Rooted
apparently freezes and reboots can be a problem if you forget to clear everything before installing custom roms....so you need to do factory reset, clear all cache, clear dalvik cache or whatever it's called, then install rom.
this didn't actually work for me when i tried to put CM7 on my phone, i've ended up clearing it all, formatting evrything and just going back to stock because CM7 was so unstable on my phone.
but if you forgot to clear everything when you first installed, try that first?
Hope you get it going. If not, you can also install stock, but you can still partition the sd card and use link2sd to give you basically a gig of "internal" storage (it lets you install pretty much all apps to the 2nd partition on the sd card. running very well now on mine.
I was just about to create a thread about this problem. I flashed m1ndh4x8r's ROM onto my device after a bad experience with the CM7 nightly, fully wiped, permissions fixed. I was on that exact same ROM the day before flashing CM7 and it was working perfectly, did everything it said it would, apps installed just fine. And the first time I installed that ROM, I didn't wipe a single thing.
So, now I'm thinking we should revert to the stock ROM, then flash this one back over it with no wipes, then if that doesn't work, revert to stock again and try flashing the ROM the proper way, wipes and all.
I'll try fixing this every way I can. I'll tell you if I find a fix for myself that you could use as well

is a type of rom... currently cm7.2 stable build... CM stands for cyanogenmod
check this site: cyanogenmod.com
Pretty much every ROM ever made says be sure to wipe EVERYTHING. They put that there for a reason. The only time time you MIGHT get away with not wiping is if your flashing the exact same ROM you just had. Then and only then, you might get away without wiping your dalvik.

Idk, the ROM worked fine for me, even though I think I didn't wipe anything. When I did wipe the phone before flashing, there was a problem. Though it could just be my device and my bad luck
God hates me, I don't know why I even bother living anymore -.-
EDIT: My faith in God is restored. Just flash this ROM instead. You'll be happy with it and it works just fine for me. Also, wipe EVERYTHING I can't agree that you always have to wipe everything, since not wiping actually solved a problem I had with CM7, but I think that was just an isolated case.

So since my coming here, i got the phone rooted and added a sense rom to it from virtous version 1.0.1, also its over clocked a lil bit
now the phone was never right since the get go with this... but what im wondering is if i do a factory reset, what will happen? since i didnt save any image before, and have nothing to revert back too.... will it revert back to the stock htc desire z rom, or will it just reset back to a proper version of the virtous rom??
i only ask , cause so far my internet still doesnt work well, my bluetooth is always dropping calls, my market still doesnt work etc.....
any help/info would be great
Cheers all
If you wipe data/factory reset it will revert back to.... nothing. And stay and the HTC screen. Just DLa new ROM and flash through recovery(CWM). After you wipe data/factory rest... before you reboot.
I'm really digging meXdroidMod right now give it a try. (No sense though)

Don't forget to wipe your dalvic cache aswell.

Actually, I thought a factory reset simply wiped your data and cache partitions (so you lose all of your downloaded apps as well as all phone settings). Everything else should be left untouched (as in the phone will boot back to Virtuous 1.0.1 as if it were freshly installed).
Also, the dalvik-cache is stored on the data partition (unless you or the ROM you are using decided to move it), so wiping data will wipe it anyway.
ummm ok so which is the correct one here... i was under the impression that the last post here is what would happen... it would revert to a fresh installed Virtuous rom....
I know the problems im having must be from me not doing a full wipe when i installed it... i just needed to back up some stuff before i was able to do that,
but since i have done all that, I can clean the phone and start fresh, to hope all my stuff will work...
but can someone pls confirm which is the right information here
On my g2 when I did a wipe it went back to the stock rom that's on the g2 perm rooted I can't say for your phone though the best thing is to download a new rom system and cache wipe and then install a new rom

Factory reset only wipes the applications/personal data. The system partition (whatever rom you installed) stays there and it'll just reboot as if it was the first time ever.
So if you have a rooted stock rom, it'll go back to how you got it (probably non-rooted) and if you have any version of virtuous that'll still be there etc and will boot like the first time.
Factory reset also DOESN'T touch the bootloader, radio, radio, s-on/s-off or anything else, just the user data. Hope this helps to clarify!
yes it does, im hoping this will fix all the problems im having with my phone....
and just to confirm, a factory reset with the virturous rom installed, will reset my phone to the way the rom is ment to me, with zero possible overlaps from not doing a wipe when i upgraded??
So a "fresh" copy of the virtuous rom will be in place, and it will be like a brand new phone again.... then i just re add everything i need too/want too
Hi everybody....Ive been flashing ROMs from ROM Manager and never had problems...until I tried to flash from CM7 nightlies #66 to a leaked G2 ROM][04/28/11] TMOUS G2 Gingerbread 2.13.531.5.
I did the usual wipe cache and dalvik and proceeded, it seemed like it was downloaded but got stuck on the reboot, it was stuck on the HTC logo for a long time. I thought I bricked it but managed to get it to work by taking the batterie out and going into recovery by clockworkmod.
Is there any special way to flash ROMs from the nightlies on a G2?
You said you wiped cache and dalvik, but did you wipe data too(factory reset)? Pretty sure you need to do that if coming from cm to the stock tmo leak. Could be wrong but sounds about right

that is right anytime change roms that are not linear to the same dev, it is best to wipe all, data/factory/cache then flash rom

Hmm, I checked everything that ROM Manager suggested, cache/ dalvik, the only thing I didnt check is to back up current ROM.
If you wanna wipe all that data/factory/cache do yo have to flash it manually?
Flashing other roms I think messed up my phone lol. I just stay with cm7 now lol
Nonsense!

even if you did say to wipe /system and /data in addition to /cache, CWM is notorious for not actually formatting the partition. go into the dev section and find SuperwipeG2 and if you are switching from aosp<->sense or, as earlier mentioned, from one dev's rom to another, run superwipe before doing so.
i have googled this and tried multiple ways of installing it but i always get a boot loop. Whats going on?
Hey if you just want to get your phone back again, just flash another firmware from the one you used. Should start up just fine.
have done already but i actually want to install cyn mod. I managed to get as far as the main screen buit then immediately reboots. I cant find wifi modules for latest doom kernel either they arent in his thread.
FLASH KERNEL FIRST (from cyanogenMOD or doomkernel for CM7 etc)
Than flash cyanogenMOD
any other way will make your phone bootloop.
I think you have to unlock BL via SE in order to flash CM..
of course you would likely broke your warranty.
this based on my experience (I'm a newbie too in the android's world). this is what I've done :
1. unlock BL via SE (not all carriers allowed this!)..
2. flash .42 fw
3. follow the instructions given on CM thread by fxp.
it's worked for me.
goodluck.
I've had this problem before. Did you wipe the delvic cache, wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition in CWM before you flashed the update.zip?
It would seem it was a specific version of cm that was making it bootloop the one from dooms thread 7.2.0 works fine and also the one before the latest stable release also worked fine. I however found a problem with the spacebar on the keyboard when using the phone in landscape so am now going to try arconium and doom kernel its a shame really because cm from what i used of it looked really nice.
Try 7.1.0.1.
I got bootloop too with 7.1.0.2

Aye thats the one i used but ended up having a problem with the spacebar not working in landscape so am on acronium now which is all good but superuser keeps crashing meh always something eh.
at first im also having the same problem, just follow the instruction by FXP : flash bb56,flash fw.42,flash FXP kernel via fastboot, flash update via recovery, wipe dalvik cache,reboot..

I have this exact same problem
I've done everything I was supposed to, I think, and still doesn't work. It boots, shows me the little Android "Welcome!" screen, and before I have time to press anything or begin setting up my device, it reboots into the Cyanogenmod loading screen. I've tried different kernels, different basebands, every time wiping Dalvik cache, etc. and it REFUSES to work. I'm pretty desperate by now because I really wanted to use this ROM so any help is greatly appreciated.
I also followed precisely rashid.fairus' instructions and it still does the exact same thing.

Sometimes you DON'T WIPE ANYTHING AT ALL. Just flash CM and Google.
Works for me on Xperia Acro S.

Only when you upgrade to a later version of the same ROM.

Wipe dalvik and cache when upgrading to later version, wiping data will reset phone to factory settings and you lose all personal data.

Hi, in the last minutes i've flashed the 2.7 build of LiquidSmooth Rom from the Paranoid Hello Halo rom... I've done the prcedure like XDA said : Wipe Wipe Wipe (cache, dalvik, system) Flash Rom Flash Gapps. It booted fine but all my apps that i've had on my previous rom was still there... all of them. The most disturbing is my settings were also like I've left them ( disabled pie wifi etc) also my Google Accound was already setuped and good to go. Is it a new feature from flashing 4.2.2 rom to an other 4.2.2 rom ? I've never seen that before. I've also rebooted to make sure it wont boot loop on reboot, and it booted like a charm!
Any clues ?
Weird, never seen that before. Tell us what recovery you have and exactly what you are wiping. Can't think of anything else at the moment I'm sure others will chime in.
Sounds to me like you're not wiping /data. This is where your apps and setting are stored and unless you factory reset using stock recovery, deliberately wipe/format /data, or flash a Rom that wipes it for you, all your apps and settings will remain.
Seems like normal behavior to me.

Ya I re-read it and he just wipes caches and system, definitely need to factory reset lol.

Got it that's why. I was sure wiping system would wipe data too. But do you think its dangerous to not wipe data? Because actually my ROM is rocking right now without issues? Should I reflash it for safety?
It just depends....
It's always best to start clean, especially if you were having problems. But if you want to keep data intact, you should be ok as long as you don't go to an entirely different rom, base, or build.
If you are updating to a newer version of the same build, you're fine. Also if updating to a newer build/version you should be ok, but may have a few hiccups.
However, anytime you go backwards (4.2.2 to 4.1.2) you should wipe it all. The same is true if you are moving to a different base, such as CM to TW. Keeping your internal sdcard data is usually ok, but sometimes it can cause some issues.

i cannot find my backup as last time i flashed was awhile ago, i cant remember where it is
You came from a 4.2 or 4.3 rom and didnt wipe data didnt you.
In cwr, mounts and storage, format everything except sd card and ext sd card. then reflash.

I built carbon 4.4 and was being lazy and just flahed just wiping cache and dalvik and hit the same problem Ahaha I had to format everything. Only thing I didnt format was the sd cards
when i try and format data the phone restarts?????
sounds like a partition issue. Whihc if it is, just go ahead and attempt to odin to stock.
Try switching recoveries first tho. perhaps the one oyu have is borked
seems to be doing it on all recoveries, sorry to be a bother, but i looked under roms i dont see a stock rom?
