1) hi guys, i have a back up of my stock rom but it want to restore back to my old ROM. i have clockworkMod recovery v5.0.2.0 and do the restore over there but it says no file found even though I have a copy of my backup folder on my SD card. pls help as im planning to go back to my stock rom//phone is in S-OFF, (RESOLVED)
2)if ill buy a new memory card, and automatically insert it in my phone, will my phone work? or do i need to flash again a certain room? what if I have a stock rom? what will happen if I reboot my phone?
3)do we have a step by step process here on how to go back to custom rom? if yes can you pls provide me the link? im doing this search thing and found a thread on where we can download the stock rom, but when I flash it, it will just say, "ammend scripting is no longer supported"(RESOLVED)
4) IS there a way to have "internet pass through" using stock htc desire ROM(gingerbread 2.3.3)?
1. I suggest that you are S-Off so the backup of your stock ROM don't work because it is not compatible with the s-off hboot. How to go back to your stock rom and s-on you can find in the troubleshooting guide by bortak (and many more questions): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275632
2. It depends on the ROM, most desire ROMs stores a part of their system files on the sd (because of that you have to partionate your sd card). If you now put in a new sd card all these files will be missed by the system.
3. For a step by step tutorial look at the guide mentioned above. The clockworkmod recovery 3.x and higher doesn't provied the amend scripting anymore. There is an amend to edify (the new scriptin method) converter out there but i would recommend you to flash the AmonRA recovery which provieds the amend scripting (how to flash a recovery you can find in the guide)
For further postings, please check the troubleshooting guide first befor you ask questions.
thanks bro. Ill do that then and ill hit you up after this
you're welcome
I actually resolved it buy using th unrevoked method for unrooting. I never thought that unrevoked method for unrooting will bring back your room to stock rom. However, I still cant find a solution to have an internet pass through on my htc desire using stock GB 2.3.3 ROM//

what I mean is I dont have this "Internet Pass Through" Selection on my unrooted htc desire. it's only htc sync, usb tethering, disk drive and charge only otions. What im trying to know is, can I add "internet pass through" on my phone?
I believe you need to flash a ROM with at least Sense 2.1 to get that feature as the official GB update has the old Sense version without the passthrough feature.
Alternatively you can try and run this which is still in beta and has limitations.

yeah i thought so because I have an "internet pass through" when I flash runnymede rom before. So it's impossible then to have this option using stock ROM right?
Yes. The gingerbread update was intended for stock hboot and i guess the latest version of sense was too big to fit Desire's internal memory.

Hey all,
I've just received an HTC Desire update (Since I'm using the stock ROM with stock radio), my phone downloaded it but it cannot install due to clockwork recovery blocking it (signature failure).
I have the .zip file. How can I customize that .zip to be able to install ?
I am rooted, with clockwork 2.5 (Version before 3.0) and have stock ROM and stock radio.
Please help.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this topic. Thank you!

Yeah, I found that out on the internet whilst searching for clues.
The thing is, I rather keep the HTC ROM than move onto other ROMs made by other people. It's just my preference. I just want to know how I could modify or something to allow me to install the latest OTA update.
Thanks for the reply.
You can't, simple as that
If you want the new version you'll have to unroot using the RUU and then re-root

Thanks for the quick reply buddy.
Okay, I must unroot then apply the update.
So, I must uninstall Clockwork recovery then unroot then update then root then install clockwork recovery. Is that right?

if he waqnts to keep root and use stock rom why doesnt he just flash teppics stock rom?
its 2.29.405.5 base, exactly the same
he has clockweork, he can just flash it over the top
True, but they don't say they want a custom ROM
Thanks so much but (you're gonna laugh) I decided to google your ROM, eMIUI and I'm in love.
I looked at the xda topic and well it was overwhelming for my simpleton mind. I really want to install that ROM, is it safe to flash it or must I have EXT2? Cause I see some ROMs require EXT2 while others don't. I don't have EXT2 nor do I know what it is.
Sorry about my "foolishness" but I'm really interested to have the same setup as you Eddy. Tell me all about it.
Oh and since your from Merseyside, can you maybe pop by Anfield and give those excuse of football players a whack on the head for me please?
Could've just clicked the link in my signature and you'd get the page on here
As for hitting Liverpool, I would but I'm a Gooner (from London originally) so kinda funny to see them faulter - if a little sad
Regarding my setup, I have a 1Gb EXT3 partition set purely so that I don't have to worry about space in future. When I rooted with unrEVOked I flashed AmonRA as opposed to CWM as at the time you couldn't partition SD cards in CWM (think you can now). I'm using a 16Gb Class 2 SD card and it works fine.
I tried a few other ROMs before finally giving eMIUI a go and I love it and with a bit of my own work on it (purely cosmetic, nothing under the hood) it does what I want it to and I normally go to bed with 40-50% battery left whereas on stock I'd be neally out on the same usage.
he said no custom rom but tepics is just stock with root and busybox which is what he would be now anyway
anyhow hes looking into miui
Miui is nice, emiui seems to be the most stable but an EXT is needed
How do I get an EXT?
Thanks so much guys!
I'm rooted, with clockwork 2.5 and I have S-ON.
Just run the correct RUU. You have to re-root like but still. Saves farting around
I have sd-ext is that the EXT2?
I don't know, not used CWM in a long time. What version are you using. It normally says at the bottom of CWM when in recovery
I partitioned an EXT2 512MB with 128MB buffer. I'm using 1.01.07, the same link as the one in Eddy's signature. I am wondering..... how do you flash a kernal? Can I do it even with my eMIUI installed or I must wipe?
Thanks!
Hi all,
I've got htc desire (bravo, GSM), but it comes with Cyanogenmod 7, alpharecovery and custom HBOOT (alpha or some like this). I would like to unroot my phone and have stock Htc Desire with stock ROM. I have been searching for any solutions on XDA forums for ages. I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6710092&postcount=4.
But I can't understand what i should do to get stock Desire.
Can somebody please help me? Thanks.
Sorry for my english.
Hello. First of all why do you want to unroot? The big part of peoples try to ROOT but are to afraid... You can flash a custom ROM that has only the stock ROM plus a few additions that will make your life easier. (ex.: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916417).
Anyway if you want to UNROOT be sure to read the ALL of the bellow threads FROM THE BEGINNING TILL END and understand everything it is written there and after this proceed:

Read the tuts posted above, but also remember to change the HBOOT back to stock, running a RRU will not work on the CM7 HBOOT. Alpharev has the stock HBOOT on there web site, the tuts above will tell you.how to change it

Ok, i don't need to completly remove root. But I preferably want a stock ROM. And I prefer to update my recovery from this stupid cwm-alpharev(v2.5.1.8), in official last CM7 stable mod, there is application "ROM Manager" and there's an option Flash ClockworkMod Recovery (bla bla u must have CWM to use this app etc). Can I do it? Can I reflash old recovery (alpha rev.)? Newest is 3.X.X.X
PS:
HBOOT 0.93
I want stock ROM because i hate this ext partitioning and all about installing parts of ROM into external SD card. And than I had 1GB ext which I cannot use for apps, and 40mb of internal storage. I HATE IT.

Well on stock Rom, you get around 75 Mb for installing apps, which would be over with around 20 apps installed. If you're cool with that, install Teppic's stock rooted rom. You dont need to unroot just for using stock rom.
Hi guys
I have a desire bravo that i updated to the new gingerbread ruu when it came out.
Sorry but i have a few questions. Im on holiday at the moment and im using my desire wifi hotspot to use the internet at the moment so i really dont want to mess it up.
1) I used the clockwork mod to S-off and install a custom recovery this morning.
I know that the S-Off worked and i manged to install the custom recovery as the superuser app has shown up in my menu and the hboot menu shows S-Off.
First thing i did was to do a back up that i have saved to my computer..
I then moved on to Root the rom and it showed as being complete
When i installed root check from the market i get some problems. The first is : Application superuser has stopped unexpectedly. I have to force close the app to continue. Root check then tells me that "Root Access is not properly configured or was not granted"
Anyone have any ideas about what i did wrong ???
2) if i cant root the rom should i just install a new custom rom. Does anyone know what is the best GB rom with a new sense (not bothered about what one) i should install. Not worried about App to sd yet as i thought if i start small with a stable rom then i can always change to a rom with app to sd built in at a later time once i get used to changing roms
Thanks for your help as i said i really dont want to brick the phone as i will lost internet access and will be stuck till i get home.
Thanks Guys
BTW big thanks to the clockwork guys for all there hard work
When your phone is s-off, you don't have to root it (or rather the os). So if the s-off process finishes (you cannot s-off with a recovery, so I assume you did it with revolutionary), just flash a rom with root access and you're done.
There is no "best rom". It depends on personal preferences. Just try.
yes i used the revolutionary way to s-off and install the recovery files and i have to say it works very very well very easy to understand
Thanks for the info about rooting the rom. I think i understand now
so can i install any rom now as i updated to the offical gingerbread ruu when it came out ?
If so can you recommend a good gingerbread rom with a newish sense on ?

After you run the revolutionary process successful, flash a custom recovery with fastboot (how to use fastboot -> see my sig). I recommend 4ext or rmd. Now boot into recovery, make a full wipe and flash any rom you want (save important first). Just follow the given instructions in the corresponding thread.
For the sense rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809328
thanks guys. I think im going to give the AceSMod007-Lite (Sense2.1+3.0 GB ) a go as a lot of people recommend it. 1 quick question.
Can i install this rom even though i installed the offical RUU Gingerbread update and s-off'ed using revolutionary??
Thanks Guys
sorry one more question.
I did a backup of my rom via recovery. If i dont like the new Rom can i just restore to my standard rom via retore in recovery mode?
Yes, you can. Just wipe everything and restore. If you cannot to this, a backup would be senseless, don't you think?
Swyped from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
Thank you soooooooo much. I just flashed the rom and eveything is working perfect
my phone now shows that i have :
885 MB on Ext Partition
34.27 MB on /data
3.97 MB on /System
Does that sound right?
Looks fine.
Swyped from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
Hey Guys,
Longtime no see.
Last Android I ran was a nook color that I flashed with gingerbread and that was a whole other kettle of fish.
I was donated a HTC Desire GSM and couldn't help myself and rooted it with unrevoked.
Then I updated the rom to Nikez Lentes ICS rom and I am very happy with it.
Now, I installed CWM and when it flashes it says that it is V5.0.2 but when I boot into recovery it is actually V2.5.0.
After a bit of reading I see that the author of the ROM and others and now using 4EXT Recovery so I bought that and went to give it a go but the S-ON is stopping it ( I booted into recovery and indeed it is S-ON currently ).
So reading up on how to turn ON to OFF I see unrevoked and alpharev have a solution for windows and linux only. ( I have VM windows and a raspberry pi linux ( but i assume the pi would be too underpowered to do this update))
I have read the wiki and read on the FAQ on this site that if you are not running the stock HTC rom that there could be an issue, is that correct ?
After all this, I am really just trying to make a Ext-SD partition on my SD card, cause the rom is like 120mb of the 140mb internal partition and I can't install enough apps to be happy.. lol.
I have the CWR image of V5.0.2 but am not sure really how to update it ( V2.5 is green text and V5.0 is blue so im sure I have the older version )
Or im happy to use 4EXT for my rom needs, but I need to change my S-ON to OFF to be able to flash the recovery and partition it that way.
If anyone can help that would be great, the whole setup has been rather painless and i'd like to keep it that way, I need the phone to work, but I would like to install more apps on the phone. The ROM also has a script built in so that is not the problem, just making a partition on the SD card really is what I need right now.
Thanks,
Steve
would it be because im currently S-OFF that I can't flash recovery above V2.5.0 or install 4EXT Recovery ?
Are you SON or SOFF ? Write down what your bootloader says.
1. Alpharev quote
Requirements:
The only requirement right now is that the ROM you're running is rooted.
As techniques such as 'data2ext' have been popping up, these might disturb our finely-tuned flashing process.
Please revert to a rooted stock ROM if possible. Your /data partition is used for temporary storage of important files.

I dont know whether it will work with ICS though. I wouldnt try it since this is a bootloader mod. Maybe best to go stock rooted rom before running alpharev.
Revolutionary is the other option for getting soff.
I am S-ON,
I ran unrevoked to root my phone, I want to make it S-OFF now.
I am asking how I can do it with my ICS rom and I don't want any issues, but I want to be able to make a SD-EXT partition to run apps2sd.

Read my post. Best to go to a stock rooted rom before running alpharev. Thereafter flash 4ext. Partition your sdcard with 4ext. Flash rom of your choice.
Can I ask why it is better to go to a stock rooted rom ?
Installing the stock rom, and stock radio, to then run alpharev, to then root, to then install 4ext, sounds like a lot of work just to unlock the S-ON.
That is alpharev requirement. Read my first post.
Link for rooted stock romlink
Where does it say you need to run a stock rooted rom ?
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/revolutionary
the stock rooted rom that is U (updated) seems to be pulled and this guy has a URL at the top saying he has pulled the rom due to internal XDA fights.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1151765
My suggestion is to run 2.3 ruu from htc dev and then use revolutionary, two flies in one hit, s-off and custom recovery, and then flashing su over recovery. Though you'll get cwm recovery after first boot you'll be able to flash 4ext.
Sent from my GT-P3100 using Flashes and Thunders
Thanks for that nloooo,
I downloaded, unrar'd and unzipped the folder and can see the 2.3 RUU exe there, so I just run that in a windows machine ?
then rev, then reflash you are suggesting ?
is it worth trying revolutionary without returning to stock RUU and if it doesn't work, then installing the 2.3 RUU ?
It alk depends on hboit version your phone has. If it is 0.93 or 1.02 than it should work no matter which rom you have. I'm suggesting 2.3 ruu cause you'll get 1.02 hboot and you're good to go.
Sent from my GT-P3100 using Flashes and Thunders
My hboot is 0.93.
If 0.93 + revolutionary could work, I would prefer to do it that way because I am very green playing with android (mostly just use non-jailbroken apple gear) But I am loving the desire + ICS.
Thank you handy and nlooo for replying.

Ok, I've got a stock Desire (with Three UK) unrooted and I was contemplating on flashing maybe an ICS/JB ROM.
But, I wanted some guidance on what would be the best way to start rooting, etc and any prtions that I need to be wary off.
I'm aware that the Desire does not have a lot of internal memory & did read a few threads on ways the internal storage can be optimised, but am still a little unclear.
I've already read about the unrevoked root process & have downloaded the necessary files. Also, have read on updating the modified USB driver, before rooting through Windows.
Some Guidance would be great ..
If your hboot is 0. 93 or 1. 02 Go to revolutionary.io for one stop solution for rooting/soff.
So, what would be the sequence I need to follow? Would the below sequence be the way to go about?
1. S-Off & Root: I have downloaded the unRevoked Root tool & I believe that it'll also offer S-OFF (Read the guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788044)
2. Before running the unRevoked Root Process, I need to update the Windows HBOOT drivers
3. I believe that the Desire has an internal memory (quite a small one) and my Desire also has an external SD card. I've read a few posts about re-partitioning the internal memory so that there's just enough space for a new ICS/JB Custom ROM, and more space for internal storage. But, I need more simpler info. here.
4. Do I have to update the radio as my Desire still have the 2/3 year old one??
5. Finally, I know how to flash a custom ROM, as I've done it several times on my other phone, Desire HD. I gained root & s-off on the DHD using the AAHK hit.
Unrevoked doesn't s-off. What's your hboot version?
To partition your sd-card properly, use 4ext recovery.

I will get the HBOOT version once I get the Phone in a couple of hours.
Other Info I managed to get from my sister over the phone:
Android: 2.2.2
Baseband: 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14
Kernel: 2.6.32.15
Build Number: 2.29.771.3CL345089
Software Number: 2.29.771.3
So, I see that there's a newer radio (5.17.05.23) .. Should I go ahead and Flash it? Will it Offer any improvements? Also, I'm in the UK with Three Mobile, does that matter?? i.e is the radio location specific??
na, the radio is the same for all. most devs roms these days say that u must have latest radio so ya mite aswell flash it. the best way to flash it is using fastboot commands, u can look at the guide in my sig and learn about that or if u have the older version of Clockworkmod Recovery (2.5.0.7) installed u cant just flash it like a normal zip file.

Ok, Im' stuck right now.
I tried to root using UnRevoked 3.32 and it failed gaining root, with a message that maybe a newer firmware.
I then tried revolutionary.io one and it successfully managed to S-OFF & installed CWM recovery 4.x.x . Then I move the Superuser-3.0.7-efgh-signed.zip to the SD card to flash from recovery, to gain root.
But, when I get into CWM recovery, I see all the options but when I select any option all I see is the splash screen with 'revolutionary'. When I hit the power button I am returned to the menu. Only a battery pull gets me out
Need help now as I have S-OFF and No Root. By the way, I also tried another guide to 'root branded devices' and have converted my SD card to a Gold Card successfully. But, the guide doesn't explain how I can gain root after that ..

Are you pressing the trackball to select options within recovery? (Eventually I would recommend switching to 4ext touch recovery, much better and more intuitive)
You only need to flash the zip to root your current Rom, and install root apps like titanium to backup apps and data.
If you have nothing to backup you can already full wipe and install a custom Rom of your choice, because they will come pre-rooted
In terms of getting some much needed memory back what worked for me on my old Desire was to partition my SDcard and install S2e. This was on the CM7 rom but you get the idea...
If you say JB, there will be no recommendation.
If you say otherwise, a lots of options will be there.
You are using froyo. Why don't you go for GB? There are a lots of good ROMs out there.
