Hi everyone!
My first post here. I'm currently using the GioPro v1.4 ROM on my Galaxy Gio and I'm pretty happy with it. The only problem I came across is that the "Data network mode" functionality in the Phone Options menu does not work. In order to reproduce this problem you:
1. Simply hold the Power button until the Phone Options menu appears on screen.
2. Choose 'Data Network Mode'. As a result nothing happens... Data network mode is neither activated, nor deactivated.

Had the same, but I didnt had any money left on my sim card, its prepaid..
Thats problably the reason why its not working

Or you have to configure your APN settings according to your carrier.
I really doubt that. Everything is configured properly because if I use the APN button from my Extended Controls widgets, data mode is successfully activated. I am also on a contract, I don't use a prepaid card so this is not an option as well.
try to disable and then enable data network. when it bothers me i try it it for like 1-2 times and it starts working.
I switched to Cyanogenmod 7.1 That "solved" my problem.

Hey guys, this afternoon my phone turned off itself becouse of the lack of battery life and then it completely lost its capacity to connect to the network ( in order to make calls ).
Its kinda rare becouse when I press and hold the power button to get access to the power menu it says "airplane on" when its off really, even after disable it keeping saying the same.
Ive already restored it, wipe everything in the device but Ive got still the issue going on.
Any ideas? Please I really need help
Thanks

It might be a problem with your carrier. So, I suggest maybe trying to go into places where there is really strong signal and try there. Maybe reboot a couple times. If the problem still persists, then contact your carrier and ask if they have anything to do with it. Because, I almost guarantee that's the problem.

I've already tried it without success, and even called my carrier and they turned to me the network was fine.
I reckon is a problem with the fact that airplane mode is turning on and off automatically
I'm so annoyed with this don't know what to do really

can you try your sim in another phone? or another sim in your phone
I have already tried both options, neither of them worked.
So the problem is with my phone but I'm really in trouble since I haven't got the guaranty of this phone because I traded it for my old device.

Did you try a different kernel and / or radio?
What does your phone status show in settings? Baseband, Network, IMEI, etc?

Flash stock rom, delete superuser or supersu, and take it to your carrier to complain. If the problem persist on stock then it's really nothing you can fix. You should be able to get a new device.

The problem is that I havent got the guaranty since I trade this phone for another old one that I had. Hope there is way to repair it even if it cost money
Surprising this is... I just cane across this exact problem today. I just removed my SIM Card, put it back in, then rebooted. After a little while I got my signal back.

Lucky you guys I havent found the solution to my problem yet :/
I have no signal on my galaxy nexus. It just started doing this today, haven't had a problem for 3 months or so. It just started today, and once in a while there is a little R above where the signal bars would normally be. How do you fix this?
The R is for roaming and just go to settings then mobile settings then click on system select and click on home only and also click on network mode and just click on CDMA/EdVo auto and that should help it to not roam and stay on sprints signal hope that helps ..let me know if u need any other help and also make sure u updated to latest PRL
Dude mine just started doing this yesterday look at top right of screen shot no signal !!
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Mine did the same thing too -- lost signal - Google GSM play store phone that was less than two weeks old.
After few reboots trying to diagnose the issue, the IMEI changed to UNKNOWN in the "about phone" -> status
/factory was intact and undamaged - a backup of /factory - showed that none of the files had changed. The radio appears to have failed..
Called Sammy and got replacement cross-shipped - and sent the broken one back..
Got a new Sim card works fine
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Mines done this several times and it always took about two reboots to get a signal again. It said I needed to insert a valid sim card...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Even without a a sim I used to get bars and "Emergency calls only" - After it flacked out, I would no longer get any bars.. when I tried to search for networks it would error out immediately. I tried three different sims, none of them were recognized..
Once in a while, my phone will loose data connection. The 'data icon' in the status bar, turn from blue to grey and the only way to get data working again, is to reboot the phone.
Had it happen a couple times now. Airplane mode toggle on/off works to fix it.
Mine losses connection when I leave a WiFi network. Also here and there it looses signal so bad I have to go into airplane mode and back to land mode.

Mine is doing the same thing whats going on? How do you fix this problem? Is it ST network issue?
Hmm last time airplane mode didn't work for me. Will try again next time. I also think it happens when I leave wifi.
take out your battery and then restart your phone. if that does not work. check in your network settings and make sure you are on the correct network for your carrier. if that still does not work, go to your local store and see if they can warranty you out a phone or check your settings

It's not neccesary to take out the battery, a restart of the phone is enough. It's just an annoying problem.

I understand that but there has to be fix right? As soon as i reboot the phone it works but it seems like whenever it changes cell towers signals it locks up again. Crazy thing is all the signal bars on my phone are full green, but have no data until i reboot.
Hi,
It started yesterday afternoon, I am not getting any 3G/4G signal on my Note 2. I thought it maybe a "Sprint tower down" problem but when I got home my wifes (unrooted) phone had no issues. I've tried turning airplane mode on/off, restarting and pulling the battery. Nothing worked.
Late last night I got 4G back and I thought everything was ok. But this morning it was back to no data.
My Mobile network settings:
Data enabled (checked)
Network mode: CDMA+LTE/EVDO
When I go to Network operators it gives me "error when searching for networks" and Sprint is not on there.
When I press "choose automatically" it just sits there saying "automatic registration.
I'm on ParanoidAndroid version 3.99-RC2
Kernel: 3.0.64-CM-gbc8f4c9
PRL # 55015
Before I flash back to stock does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Randy

I was thinking of that. But I wasn't quite sure how to do it on a AOSP rom. It's easy on a touchwiz.
I ended up factory reseting and flashing back to the previous version of the PA rom. It's working for now. Maybe just a bug in RC2?
Thanks for the suggestion.
Not sure how well this works with Rooted phones, but try updating your data profile in Setting>System Update. If that doesn't do it try dialing ##72786# and let it go through SCRTN. Again, not sure what effect this will have on a rooted phone, but it's worth a shot. If all else fails call customer care and have them refresh SPS, GEMALTO, and OMA in that order.

Hmmm, I just tried it on mine, but it didn't work either... I wonder if it's because it's a non TW rom, and maybe the TW roms have it built in by samsung for sprint. I'm getting ready to flash back to a TW rom, I'll report back with details, for science.
Edit: For science. Flashed digiblur, tested SCRTN, it worked. HFA, PRL update, all ok, phone rebooted and works without issue. So, if you are keeping score, SCRTN works in TW roms, but not AOSP, or so it seems.
If you guys can, back up your current AOSP build and flash a stock one click. Current "safe" PRL is 2006 so once you get on you'll probably get that pushed to your device. Bet that will fix your problems. Then simply restore your AOSP backup.
I have the app LTE OnOff which allows you to set Preferred Network Types. This is the list of options:
0 WCDMA preferred
1 GSM only
2 WCDMA only
3 GSM auto (PRL)
4 CDMA auto (PRL)
5 CDMA only
6 EvDo only
7 GSM/WCDMA, CDMA, and EvDo (PRL)
8 CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto
9 GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
10 CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto
11 LTE only
12 LTE,CDMA
I have it set to CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto which allows both 3G and 4G. What often happens is that I will lose 4G and the preferred network will switch itself to something else, like CDMA auto (PRL) and stays on 3G until I switch it back to what it was before.
Any explanation for why this is happening?
Get a new sim card trust me I had the same problem.

I just wanted to report that I finally got a new SIM card, but the problem still occurs when the LTE OnOff app is set to CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto. So I tried the CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto setting and so far so good. Maybe this setting would have worked with my old SIM card, I don't know.
Some roms use certain radio combos. I ran in to that problem on a few roms

Stop using this app. It wasn't meant to be used with the HTC one. It might even be the cause of your issue since it tries to override the default network preferences.
Stock rooted rom + Stock recovery + Factory reset = No more problem dropping 4G
That will be the only method to fix your corrupt NV radio partitions.
I would also suggest not using that app, as Disconnecktie said.

All it does is make a shortcut to the "RadioInfo" process that is stored in settings. You can reach this by going to dialer and typing *#*#4636#*#* > Phone info. You will see the it there. The app is perfectly safe because it doesn't do much but shortcut to a process that is stock on the phone. Held in the settings.apk
I sense removed the app and just made a shortcut myself. Right now i have mine set to LTE/CDMA auto (PRL) and its bee working great for me. Check to see if you have the option to change it to that also.
see attached photo, sorry for the graininess of the photo. guess XDA has a limit on how big of an upload you can do.
That option does not exist on mine. See my original post where I list all my options
Is this the app you're using? If you are the reason I say to quit using it is because it was made for the thunderbolt years ago. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.andirc.lteonfoff
If not maybe try what Santod suggested. This issue happens sometimes when you flash aosp roms and sometimes when you switch the radio to an unsupported mode. I had to do the factory reset using stock recovery once before because I accidentally switched to an unsupported preference.

I understand that it was made for the thunderbolt but the source for this shows all it does is use Google setting apk to find the radio intent:
private void radioInfo(){
ComponentName intentComponent = new ComponentName("com.android.settings", "com.android.settings.RadioInfo");
Intent mainIntent = new Intent("android.intent.action.MAIN");
mainIntent.setComponent(intentComponent);
startActivity(mainIntent);
System.exit(0);
}
anyways not to get off topic, the app is fine.
OP what rom / kernel are you on.

The app hasn't been updated in over three years. I'm pretty sure the ril has changed a lot since then. A factory reset with the stock Rom and recovery in place will fix the issue.

Solution
@legaldeejay
The best solution to your issue is to do as Santod suggested; go back to stock rom, recovery, and a factory reset.
If the problem even then STILL persists, well, nothing beats a good ol' fashioned RUU (caution: wipes media memory).

I am using an Ecliptic ROM. The app I referred to is not really an app, it is just a shortcut as synisterwolf stated. The option I have been using since I enabled it - CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA/LTE - appears to be working fine, so I am sticking with that.
WiFi refuses to connect occasionally after waking up. Need to toggle the airplane mode to restore the connection. Sometimes the WiFi on/off switch will also stuck. You cannot toggle it until a reboot. Can anybody else replicate the problem?

After disabling the "Scanning always available" option, the problem hasn't appeared for a day. I checked the advanced WiFi settings of 4.2.2 and couldn't find the same option. It's likely that Google introduced the bug in KitKat because I heard lots of similar complaints from Nexus users.

I'm having a similar problem with my WiFi too. I am on Android 4.4.2 Ver. V50020d and the device is refusing to connect to my WiFi, I have tried a full reboot, WiFi on/off and a factory reset. The factory reset worked for a few days and now it has stopped working again. I get the Error Message 'Failed to Connect to Network' when I try to connect to the WiFi manually. Has anyone got a fix for it yet?
Also I have contacted LG Support and after trying the 'usual' troubleshooting stuff, they suggested my device should go in for repairs.
