Bravia engine on the desire?

Sony Ericsson has implemented this stuff called bravia engine in their new devices that increases sharpness, contrast, etc.
They have managed to port that to the x10. Bravia engine is completely software based so is there a possibility we can port it to our desire?

The latest version of Tabasco's Silky ROM has the Bravia engine included. No idea how it works, or how to port it to other ROMs but at least it is here on the Desire...that's a start!

A developer over at the HD2 forums ported them first. He also posted the files, and he says they work on all sense roms.

Thanks for the link. Although reading that thread, it seems doubtful whether this has actually been successfully ported?

But will we notice the difference with and without bravia engine? Does it work ONLY in gallery?

Bravia Engine doesnt do anything but it does improve screen acurancy...

There are now a few roms with bravia engine, hope someone makes a flashable .zip of it. Would be nice

bit difficult with all the build.prop's for every version of each rom..
would have to find a way to append the text in the build.prop ? or just create a flashable version for each rom

I think flashable zip for each rom would be easier

Note: untested!! only for AceSMod007-3D v15, CM7 7.1.0 stable, oxygen 2.3.1 (please post and let us know if it works or not if you test)

Thanks, can u make a flashable zip for CM7? cuz the other guy claims to have 2 HTC desires and can do a comparison for us. In the meantime i will try to flash the zip file and see if theres is any differences. Thanks so much

Also Michaelm007's Runnymede007 v3 has the bravia engine. I have noticed that truly the look and sharpness has changed since he included it into his rom.

INSTRUCTIONS
Make sure you are running a custom recovery (CWM or TWRP)
- Make sure you have busybox installed, if you don't or if you're not sure, download Busybox Installer from the Play Store (free)
- Make a nandroid backup of your current ROM, just in case
- Wipe cache and dalvik cache in recovery
- Flash PmR in recovery
- A wonderful touchscreen interface will pop-up
(devices need different touchscreen calibration, if the touchscreen doesn't work, use the menu button of your device, select "Calibration Tools" and follow the instructions)
- Follow the on-screen instructions, make your choices between all the different features to Pimp your Rom
- Select "Reboot my device" on last screen (or reboot from recovery) and enjoy

Encountering installation issues ?
Do the following to fix most errors you might get on some devices :
Open the zip of the rom you are running with winrar or 7zip or whatever (the .zip file that you flash in recovery)
Inside this zip, navigate to : META-INF/com/google/android
Extract the file called "update-binary" and rename it to "update-binary-installer" then close your rom's zip
Open Pimp my Rom's zip (i.e : PIMP_MY_ROM-v1.5.3-by-Androguide.fr.zip)
Do not unzip it, inside this zip, navigate to : META-INF/com/google/android and delete "updater-binary-installer"
Now copy the "update-binary-installer" file you extracted & renamed from your rom to Pimp My Rom's zip (still in META-INF/com/google/android). Simply drag and drop it into PmR's zip to add it.
Close the zip and flash it

i have tested the original pimp my rom version on CM9 build3 by arco, and it runs good as long as i don't install any init.d scripts tweaks!! cause if i put it the phone lags to much!!

well there is no differences becuase this is the original file this is not modded version of PMP i just post it here so other can try it,,..
well i tested it by my self i install init.d script in it but my phone is still normal not lagging...its even more smooth <-- for me i guess
also battery life improves i test this 3 days ago before i posted this thread here so.. yeah no problem until now..
im using only CM9 B3 by arco no tweaks except this PMP i love this tweaks LOL..

So i have nstaled nstools program runing conservative governator and noop sheduller! Can it be a conflit because of this? Sorry can you tell me what init.d tweaks haver you turn one?
And Just one Last (noob) question, we can turn on tweaks on init.d and build.prop at the same time right?

1. 1st i dont know if they gonna conflict conser. gov. and noop :/
2. in init.d just tick you want to improve or change..
3. yep you can turn on tweaks at the same time
tip dont use GPS fix thingy ex. your rom is for europe firmware and your in asia dont turn it on
might end up on a bootloop just like me (or im missing something well didnt know all the answer)
just dont forget to backup all your files...

you may already installed many app that can interact with hardware. like setcpu, swap or other.
yes you can turn on tweak on init.d and build.prop

Ok guys, yes I have installed nstools, and some others things like acid audio mod and wifix and some others system fonts! So what I did? Wipe everything on my phone, and flash again the cm9 build, and then I have flashed PmR again, and with most of the things, and now I am a happy user again heheh, it's working really good!
So I recommend this thing for at least give it a try

One thing you should know, I've tried the flashable version and haven't succeed yet. But I tried the app from Play Store, it works and easier to use

I tried that method and it got me to the bootloop...

Does anyone know how to add these into cmenard 7105 stock rom? I tried pmtr3 rom and really liked it. The sound quality was a big improvement. I ran into a few problems with pmtr3 rom. So now im back to cmenard rom. Just wanted to see if anyone can show me a way to add awesome beats and bravia engine . Thanks in advance

Thanks for the link. But I looked at that thread before I asked this question. Doesn't seem like it makes any difference for them just by installing it from reading from that thread

I did run this when Jedi V1 so I think work but nandroid backup in case.Flash by CWM
Edit: may give a warning ( to lound ) when you turn on max volumn , after reboot that warning will gone.

I got it to work with the help of Pmtr3 dev and simplelife for the awesome beats . Awesome beats didn't make any difference in sound until I added bravia engine into system/etc and buildprop edit. it definitely makes my phone sounds better.
This is what I did to get it to work on Cmenards rom.
I downloaded Pmtr3s jedi x rom. Using root explorer, extract Be_photo & be_video from system/etc then copy those 2 files and paste it in system/etc(make sure you change permission on both of the files). Then extract build.prop, look for the two lines
ro.service.swiqi.supported=true
persist.service.swiqi.enable=1
Copy that and paste it in your build.prop.
save and reboot.
maybe other ppl will have a better and easier way to get it to work but thats how I got mine to work. if you need more help, pm me. I'm a noob at this , so what I explained my be confusing .

Thank you for the help. I copied those two files and modified build.prop and changed permissions. There must be something else missing. Is there another build.prop for beats maybe?
On a side note, how do I confirm bravia engine is actually working?

it alters the sound file in /system/media/UI/
believe it's an .ogg file, all the UI sounds for your device are found in there, you can modify/cut mp3's, convert them, then name them the same as the the one you are trying to replace and there you have it, a new UI sound for the same function.

Nope .. it is the seccontacts.apk that sound comes from ..
None of the /system/media/UI sounds is for the keypad sound
That would be to easy ...

Trust me, I tried everything to remove that crap on my old releases. I had a feelign it was in Sec_Contacts.
Why not make the change a flashable zip instead? If its just for UVDLJA, it'd be much more simple to release the modified Sec_Contacts, would it not?

Well this does the same thing .. just uses adb
It replaces the apk sets permissions and reboots phone.
So I guess both would be ok. This way is more fun!

Regardless of the method, thank you for the work!

Well I stand corrected... I guess that makes sense that the app itself would have its own sounds included within the apk... just like any other app!

By the way, didn't work for me (stock JB). It replaced SecContacts but it was no longer present in the drawer and trying to install it via rootexplorer only failed.

Pretty sure its deodexed. Many of us wont be able to use this because we are using custom roms.
I know you can reodex, but im betting most wont bother with new releases every day.
If I may, id suggest making a deodexed flashable that the devs can use in their roms. If they apply any mods to the contacts app, and then someone flashes your mod, itll revert the other back to stock. If a dev mods yours instead, then the users get the best of both.
I would like to try yours, except two things, im always deodexed, and I never connect to the computer unless I have to use Odin. Almost everything else can be done either on device, or through wireless.
Nothing against what youve done though, so please dont take it as anything more than suggestion. It is always cool to show different ways of getting things done! I just think a lot more people could enjoy this if it were deodexed and recovery flashable.
Whatever you decide, good job on this! Ive been wanting to do the same ever since I got this thing, I just keep getting involved in too many other things!

used the flashable zip...but then it took my dialer theme away...reflashed the theme....and got the sound back with the theme.

Sorry...I wasnt very clear.
I flashed the beep hack... THEME went away but had the beep hack sound. Reflashed the theme, but the beep hack sound stayed and had the theme came back. Wish there was a way to try it out.... but I have the beep hack sound on the phone. There a way to get the waterdrop sound back then i can test it out

I'm a little confused to what this mod does or why its necessary. If I understand correctly it removes the water droplet sound from the dialer. I don't have that sound because I turned it off in settings. Can't you just turn the sound off in settings?

Worked great for me on my AT&T S3. I have a custom dialer theme as well.
