Ok, I've been seaching the forums for about 30 min and maybe I over looked it , but I'm trying to see how or where I can get the voicemail to work on my phone.
Can anyone just point me in the right direction please?

You can use google voice for voicemail or you can use the aosp visual voice mail for cm7 on cm9.... however I don't think it works properly.

My Sprint Voicemail works fine on CM9. I restored app and data from Titanium. I disabled notification and use the text message from 9016 as my notification.
If this don't work for Visual Voicemail Plus in the market works great too.
I didn't care much for Google voice either. I have been looking for a replacement in the Market. I will give Visual Voicemail Plus a try. Thanks.

What is the actual name of the Sprint Voicemail app? Is it the vtt-Sprint.apk or what? Also, is it located in the system/app folder of the roms? Thanks for the help!!

Kenny, which Sprint VVM version are you using. I've tried 5.1.0.48 and 70.
The closest I got was 70 on Alpha2 where it told me I had a voicemail, but could not retrieve it.
Thanks
The only way (at the moment) that I got Sprint VVM to work on CM9 is to backup an already functioning Sprint VVM from CM7 or a TW ROM using Titanium Backup.
Flash back to CM9 and restore VVM WITH data and it should work.
Also, for anyone wondering, I'm using Sprint Visual Voicemail v5.2.0.24

5.2.0.24 and restored data as well with Titanium so it was already provisioned. Then changed the *86 in CM9 to my phone number.
I have had my note 2 flashed to boost since it came out but I have never got my voicemail notifications. I've tried this apk but it's crap, and boost has the galaxy s2 with a very good working voicemail notifier. Is there a phone.apk or something I can take off the s2 to make it work on sgn2?
Anyone?

I have given up on the native voicemail notifications u should too. I been using an app from the play store called Missed It!
I set up the widget for voicemails it works pretty good n its customizable.
There's also this notification app Missed Message Alerts works ok but not as reliable as Missed It!
I hope this helps for now. It's better than nothing.
CyanogenMod 10 JB 4.1.1 has voicemail notifications that has worked for me but with the new CM10.1 JB 4.2.1 it doesn't work yet.

I have but it's just a little annoying, the apps for voice mail notifications suck. The only phone I see that everyone likes so much for boost flashing is that old a** evo 4G with native notifications. The s2 has it, but you would have to patch the phone.app

Every time I've used custom ROMs since my original Evo 4G, I've had issues with voice mail. It's not just visual voice mail, it's the Sprint voice mail call in and notification. The long press 1 gives me a carrier automatic message for not available and my notifications are all text messages with a hyper link and phone number to call that don't work. I have to manually call my number to access voice mail and check for messages.
I've tried the Google Voice option and did not like it. I love switching ROMs like socks and giving them all a whirl, but I cannot live without better carrier voice mail integration or a better solution for tracking missed calls, my job won't allow it.
If anyone can explain why AOSP/AOKP ROMs I've used have this problem and stock framework ROMs do not, I'd be grateful for the education and would also welcome work around suggestions so I can keep ROM hoping.

Because it's not built into aosp ... It's a carrier thing which is why you can do it on a touch wiz rom but not aokp or cm10 its not there to fix on aosp

So is basically hardwired into the framework of the ROM. Modified stock ROMs would work by maintaining carrier framework but AOSP/AOKP based ROMs would not because their framework is based off Google source code. That about sum it up?

To get voicemail working on aosp, install the VVM app, go to menu and record a message, then send the message to [email protected] and wait for a return message. This will provision voicemail to work on aosp. After you do that VVM will work, with the exception you will receive a text from 9016 as well as the VVM notification, and long pressing 1 will work. For long press 1 you may need to go to the dialer > settings > voicemail and add your phone #

Awesome, I'll give that a shot! So the previous comment about vvm being tied to the stock ROM framework isn't true then?

I'm on the Avatar Rom and all I did was install the latest VM apk and it works. It has a dark theme now which is nice. Not sure if there's a block text option in the Rom or have to download a app to block the texts.

It is to an extent. It only works automatically and self provisions on stock based samsung roms, it has to be done manually on AOSP/CM based roms. The other alternative is to use a 3rd party vvm app from the playstore like youmail. But manually provisioning and setting up the carrier VM options in the call settings from dialer should get the sprint VVM working. You'll get your regular vvm noti but you'll also get a text from 9016 everytime you get a message

Stock messaging app doesn't have a spam blocker, but I got one that works. However, I can get the VVM apk installed but it won't work right and the activation vm I sent did not return a message to me. Also, with Paranoid I'm not able to change my voicemail number from *86, whenever I enter a new number and hit OK it changes back to *86.

Try vanilla rootbox. I prefer it over PA has the same features plus more and my vvm works on it. I actually cloned rootbox to a twiz rom, has pie, pad the themeing most of the customization and still has all the samsung features like spen and multiwindow. Once I get it updated to ma7 I'm gonna release it. I was about to release my ljc version when ma7 went ota and decided to hold off til I update

Not yet. I've been having issues with the latest update and some of my mods, and have been too busy with work to actually put enough time and effort into fixing it. Seems like every time I get it ready and update comes out before I can get mine finalized. Works been way busier this year, which is good for my wallet but bad for my hobby time :sly:

This is a question for all of us using our phones on cricket, boost etc.
Heres the question.
Can I edit some type of file in my system in my phone that will allow me to recieve notifications when I have a new voicemail?
Im tired of using voicemail notifier app because its putting stupid shortcuts on my homescreen and avg detects it as adware. That makes me uncomfortable.
If you look at the screenshot photo I attached from a cricketusers forum. The og poster is saying that sprint uses data to recieve voicemail instead of using standard MWI (Message Waiting Indicator) which is what the voicemail notifier app allows I would assume. Is there anyway to patch the phone.apk if any and do this without the app? Thanks
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Edit: I came across a voicemail notifier by extorian which works fine with no ads. I attached the apk itself and the apk extracted so someone can look at it. Is there any way to make this a mod or cook it into a rom?

Voicemail Notifier was designed to give back users there native and stock voicemail
Voicemail Notifier
WORKS PERFECT ON STOCK SPRINT GALAXY S4 !!!!!!
Description
Voicemail Notifier was designed to give back users there native and stock
voice mail features.
This is especially useful for people who have had there phones flashed /
unlocked to another
service provider. This is also helpful for Sprint users, as Sprint has removed
the standard
MWI feature. This app restores this feature.
It gives you 100% like stock functionality including voice mail count. This is not
intended
to replace your voice mail notification if its already working.
This app uses little to no resources and NO battery drain. It works 100% in the
background.
WORKS PERFECT ON STOCK SPRINT GALAXY S4 !!!!!!

This voicemail notifier (.99 cents from amo..) used to work on my NOTE 2 from sprint flashed to ntelos. I upgraded to a NOTE 3 from sprint flashed to ntelos and the voicemail notifier only works when I reboot the phone. Since I leave the phone on all the time this has become half useless.
The first voicemail notifier has a continuous service, ads, and also detects voicemail when I have no voicemail. I had to uninstall it.
Any ideas?

Check NTELOS roms and see if they have a voicemail app. I used sprint on cricket till they went gsm. When i first started using sprint devices I had to use custom compiled roms that had the sprint qwirt option turned off then I would get voicemail notifications. Later cricket started using their own visual voicemail app so I installed it on my flashed devices.
