Media scanner not scanning local music - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I use isyncr to get music from my iTunes onto my gnex. Worked fine at first, then suddenly no music app except spotify will see my local music. Even after wiping media storage data, wiping phone itself, and changing Roms. Anyone have a clue what's going on?

I'm having the same issue only with Pictures... they wont show up in my Gallery. No answer to this yet, huh?

Make sure there is not a .nomedia file in those directories.

Just checked, there isn't. If I take a new picture it shows up, any prior pictures which are definitely in the same directory do not show up.

Have you tried Google Music Import from the Market?

I don't have a problem myself for music since I use Google Music but I have had that problem with the Gallery. I think it's a bug with the stock Gallery app, and the pictures show up fine using a third-party one like QuickPic. Not an elegant solution but it works.

After quite a bit of troubleshooting. (Clearing Caches, wiping gallery data, wiping media storage data, etc...) I've come to the conclusion that the stock gallery just does not scan for existing media. Not sure why, but it is what it is.

[Q] Music not showing up. Any suggestions?

Hey guys my complete music library isnt showing up on my arc however it works on my other phones? any Idea what it can be, Ive used google music and the default one and both have the same problem
Go to the app and clear its cache. See if that helps.
Also, have a quick browse and check whether there's a .nomedia file in your music folder.

it might help if we had a little more information like which music app and what rom? I think if you put .nomedia file in the root of your picture folder will solve this but not sure if that will stop the gallery from reading it.
Sorry running on stock jb rom rooted and its the Samsung music player

Stock music player app...

Does anyone have the problem where the music player pulls all audio files including ringtones and notification tones and displays them in the list? I find it frustrating that it does this. Does anyone know a way to get around this?

No just plays music from my music folder try putting all ur music in a music folder. Before u do that force close the player then erase data for it and the media storage then make ur folder.

Music not showing up on twiz player.

I have a question regarding the twiz music player. I'm on jellyb and somehow my stock music player or the Walkman can't "see" some of my music even thought they're in mp3 format. I've tried renaming the damn songs and they still don't pop up. I am able to play them using es explorer and having it play through stock app but it's just not popping up. Any ideas of how I could fix this?

If you just put on phone you might need to rescan media. There are apps in play store to force a rescan. Then I had a problem in the past where a app was creating a .nomedia file so the media scanner skipped that folder.

Almost like deja vu. Having the same issue in either the stock music player or Play Music. Just moved over to Note 2 from S3 and didn't have this happen on S3. Tried unmounting and mounting external SD card so as to force a rescan, no dice.
So i just rebooted the phone, went to Music Player and it's blank, says i have no music on phone. While contemplating what to do next (including downloading a re-scan media app from the market) i just let it alone and a minute later all my music started showing up and populating. I guess it took its sweet time to re-scan or get it's head right.

Only other couple things off the top of my head would be go to settings and application manager find the music player and try clearing data. My guess is that won't work since it's multiple players. Other thing I know some songs I downloaded from a mp3 app before didn't show until I updated the id3 tag for some reason. The ones that didn't show had a bunch of garbage in the id3 mostly random symbols. Once they got corrected they started showing up for me. But that was when I had my epic touch. Hope it works for ya.

Music player crashes when opening playlists

Im on stock rooted 4.3 and my stock music player keeps crashing everytime I try to go the playlists section. I never had this problem with 4.1.2
I tried the usual fixes (clear app data and cache, force stop, reboot) but to no avail.
One thing I noticed was that when I go to my files and open the folder called playlists its empty. Could this be causing a problem ?

Might be your sd card...I had a similar problem with my gallery. ...every time I tried to view images that were saved to sd the gallery would force close.

Thanks for your response but im pretty sure the problem isnt the sd card as all my songs are on there and I can play them all just fine I just can't seem to access any playlists.

I've got the same issue.
I can play all my songs, but when I click on the playlist icon it crashes.
If I go to the songlist, I can select a song and go to add to playlist, then select a playlist and it will add it. I can then play the playlist whjile I am there. But if I go straight to playlists it crashes before it lets me select a playlist.
I have tried wiping data and cache.
I have also tried unmounting the SD card and running the player with just a few songs on the internal memory. Same issue - I select playlists and it crashes. It worked fine for 6 months before this proiblem started. Very frustrating.
