What is up…Question: My Samsung Genex is seems to be unlocked, as I unlocked it with the toolkit and the visual unlock appears during the Google boot. However, Superuser, Busybox and Rom Manager do not recognize the device as unlocked.
With no luck, I have re-rooted the device via toolkit several times.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks All!
i had this problem just a few days ago, or a similar one. initially i rooted my phone. then i got the OTA update since i was still stock. i accepted the update but never checked root until later and i had lost root. but for whatever reason i could not get back root no matter how much i tried.
i used the superboot one click method, over and over and over, but it kept failing. then one time if finally just worked and rooted. i didnt do anything different. so that's all the experience i can help you with...
Solved. Thanks to the fine folks that created the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit!
how? please explain , im having the same problem

I had my phone rooted and decided to unroot to get the OTA update which I did, but I tried rooting the phone again and I can't no longer root the phone.
Has any one experience this before?
Can I use unrevoked?
i dont know about unrevoked. if you do the factory reset and reroot using toasts method, there is a stock rom you can flash that has the OTA update biult in that will allow you to keep the root. all of the info is on the first page where toast describes the rooting process. hope this helps.
I guess there is no way to revoked so I can root my phone again. I like to learn if this is possible I guess, I will miss the tether app that I enjoy so much.
Please any one
I am still trying to root my evo after installing the OTA and have not been able to root it again.
Can anyone help if possible?
I will appreciate any suggestions at this point
Thanks in advance
how to unroot
i tried rooting my phone last night and it messed up, i think.. i know the root didnt work. how can i get my phone back to stock? I am new with androids and not sure what im really doin
You can use the unrevoked method if you are just mainly using it for the tether app.
http://unrevoked.com/m/
then click the image to install it.
un root
i just would like to get my phone back to stock, i did the unrevoked root, then tried to do a ROM, and the rom part did take all the way. I still have the ROM Manager app still on my phone.. should i delete that
Just use this and it will bring u back to stock - remember google search is your friend

Hi guys,
I rooted my phone a few days back after I bought it and then just wanted to see if I can unroot it following the How TOs on the forums and I used one of the stock roms for Virgin Mobile but I didn't pay attention to the build of it. As it turns out, it was 1.23.351.1, so I am now on 1.23.351.1 and UNROOTED. I found a guide how to downgrade but it seems like it only works for ROOTED phones. I can't get past the part where I have to enter SU to have SuperUser access and I assume it's because the phone is not rooted and SuperUser Permissions is not installed.

Any suggestions?
Thnx
Unfortunately I don't think its possible to root from anything 1.22+

Tried a factory reset (after backing up your SD card, ofc)?
Yeah, I just tried that but that doesn't change the ROM or anything
Maybe, I'll call HTC and complain about something to get a replacement, what can I complain about that will get me a replacement
Ok, so i got a galaxy nexus, bootloader unlocked, i have tried the cwr, and i flashed to 4.0.4. and that ruined the root. i tried the old su, the new one, and i cant seem to get it. ive tried manually and with the wug toolkit, and im stuck i dont know.
What messages you get with wug toolkit?

A lot of su zips won't work with 4.0.4.
Use the one from my guide...linked in my sig.

It escapes me why you are starting a new thread when the last one you started was the same question, and there were enough replies in that one. I had already given you instructions in the other thread...
Follow Method 1 in this post. (In step 1, obviously if you are using an LTE device, you need to get the recovery for an LTE device, and not the GSM one linked there...)
wait i got it ^^ sorry for bothering you guys. The su provided by wugs isnt compatible with the 4.0.4. i downloaded a fresh one, flashed it manually, and bam! and again... sorry guys.
Get OTA RootKeeper so it won't happen again in future updates.
Good afternoon guys,
I have a few set of questions and I will be glad if someone is able to kindly help me out. Please keep in mind that I am not an android expert as far as rooting, custom roms, etc... So I ask for patience from you guys!
Now... into the questions. I got my LG G2 2 weeks ago from Sprint. Great solid phone with killer specs. I previously had a Galaxy Epic 4G Touch. I was looking into rooting my LG G2 phone. However, somewhere in an article online, I read that, if I were to root my LG, I would no longer receive OTA software updates... Like an updated android version for example.. Is that true? I dont care about loosing root after updating. I just dont want to root my phone, receive an OTA update and then mess up my phone.. So thats my first question.
Next... I've done quite a few research online on how to root the G2 from sprint. What i am currently having issues with is finding the drivers. I know I must install them prior to attempting anything else. I read that I could use the Tmobile version drivers even though I am on sprint. But no luck finding those either. Could someone provide me with a link to download the drivers? Thanks! (Windows 8)
And last... I've seen many methods on rooting this device, that at the end, was confused on which one to use. Soo.. could someone share a link of a working method to root the LG G2 from Sprint (Android 4.4.2)
Thank you guys and I will be very grateful for any help. :good:
Any change of the android operating system with ota can fail. They are looking it seems note for any excuse to break the phone if you do anything. Best idea is to make sure you can unroot, then take ota.
Best way to root is go with ioroot25. I believe it is in lg g2 general.

Thank you for your reply.
How would I unroot my G2? Would I use ioroot25? Or is there some type of app that I would have to download? Correct me if I'm wrong, but... Is it possible to unroot with SuperSU ones is installed on your phone after a sucessful root?
Thanks.! :good:
SuperSU can unroot (and temp unroot, though anybodies guess if it'll survive an OTA). There's several other temp unrooters, I often use Hide My Root (try to get some perspective on what the device *actually* works like). Otherwise, removing su, supersu, busybox (if installed) and whatever else until /system looks unmodified works. If there's custom recovery, you (as well as I) probably need to flash that back to stock as well. Or.. quite likely there will be a version around to flash without taking the actual OTA update if there isn't already (haven't checked the other thread). That'll likely be the easiest rather than bother with redoing the work to fix it up again.
Nothing is risk-free of course, but unrooted and flashed back to stock recovery it should be at least fairly unlikely to hurt anything. Of course that's often the stuff I mess up.

Well I took a OTA update this morning not thinking.....rooted but stock rom and now my phone wont come out of recovery.....Trying to fix this now...ugg! Not fun
I'm new to rooting and i rooted my phone today. But, when trying to confirm root for an app that needed it to be root it immediatly restarted and gave the security error saying the phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked and i had to flash stock firmware to get out the error. During the time rooting phone nothing went wrong for me. So i'm curious. Is there something i forgot to do that made my phone do that
