I've noticed some people's galaxy nexus screenshots are clearly much better quality than I'm getting with my stock power/volume shot. Whats the trick?
Can you post a example of what yours look like? I don't use any tricks and they come out just fine.

I don't notice any differences, so it's not ROM/kernel based.
Seems as if theres not rhyme or reason to the quality here....

Yeah, you should probably post some examples. If you're uploading them to XDA, they get compressed and you'll lose a lot of quality, but the actual capture itself is a full 1280x720 PNG (which is lossless).
EDIT: I see your examples. Don't upload them through Tapatalk, they get heavily compressed. Upload them to imgur or some other image hosting site and link to them.

Pretty much what he said. You're uploading them to Tapatalk, this compresses your screenshot. But if you were to actually upload it to Google+, Photobucket, take it from your phone to computer and upload it.
It'll come out as the screenshots as the one I posted.

I havent tested it But if you take a wallpaper which has the 1200x2000 resolution, and set it as the background in TF3D --- Then the device doesnt resize them and theyre in really good quality--- could someone upload some hi quality picture which has 1200x2000 resolution (same as the sample pictures in oficial rom, but dont upload sample pics -- need some hi detail pict )
If it works then make a different thread where people upload 1200x2000 wallpapers, not 800x480
On Background4all Tabs the Maximum size is 512*512 because nobody can make a working Header for 800*400, i tried it few times and i get 800*400 hald working, only the large pixel blocks were shifted.
But i dont think that 1200*1200 is working.

I want to test if its working-- cuz the album art pictures are not cripled as much, when set as background ( and theyre 1200x2000) -- So I need some hi detailed 1200x2000 picture

Man, that's HUGE !!
I'll go look for some.. I had the same thought a while ago
Today I have found out that you can save images with the Kin. What you have to do, is double tap the image (it might zoom in sometimes, 2nd time should work). After double tapping the image, it will come up with popup saying "save image". When you save an image, it gets saved into your camera app just like a screenshot. Enjoy!

P.S. using that pic as my lock screen, fits well.
Yes, but doesnt work with "hacking" purposes as the browser yells about the image not being loadable.
Long time .

Yeah, but its still nice to know that this phone can do that. I though it couldn't. Just educating other users.
hmm... this seems like it could be exploitable. have we tried this yet?
edit: anybody know the inner workings of image files? i'll look it up later but i have homework to do right now...

oh... my bad.
As many of you may know, Dropbox is currently holding a promotion for their new automatic photo upload thing. For every 500mb of pictures I upload, I get 500mb free (4.5GB limit).
I am trying to think of the best / fastest way to do this. I've been looking and looking for high resolution photos, but most all the ones I find are just under 1mb. I'd have to download atleast 500 of them to get the first 500mb. I even began just snapping random photos with my phone, just pressing the camera capture button, over and over and over for a total of 311 times lol. It was nowhere near enough pictures.
Anyone have any advice? Or does anyone have a place for photographs with large file size? To those of you that have already done this, could you tell me what you did to do it?
This may be of interest
I suppose if everyone posted a pic.... maybe you could pool em all into dropbox? First -

The link that bombadier posted showed the quickest way to do. Thanks anyway for trying. And thanks to bombadier also!

Just look at the picture I included. Zoomed out looks fine, just a little over sharpened. The minute you zoom in, you can see the oil painting effect. You guys think this can ever be fixed?

I had this on my s5. Could be a software issue
Dumb questions but it appears you sent screen shots of the pictures.. Can you upload the actual files? It could be the screens over sharpening but may not actually be in the image.. Also the stock camera defaults to 10mp but you can up it to 13 to see if it helps with the detail.. Also make sure your camera lense doesn't have a smudge on it.
Mine is the same way, though probably worse. Very disappointed in the camera on this thing. Its all software related, so hopefully someone can find a fix.
I posted a few pictures (linked directly, not uploaded) of something very similar in the picture thread. Seems HDR is a very big source of the issue, and looking at your picture, its certainly an HDR image. I'm on to A Better Camera, and its a little better but not much.
For as far as you zoomed in I think it looks OK. I can't shoot now zoom later with the g3. ?

Hi. I'd like to share with you some nice feature i found at reddit. It is just as title says, modes well known from previous generations.
All thanks goes to someone who discovered this.

Can confirm it does work and the settings are actually different. The AMOLED settings are more vibrant then the NATURAL settings, but not as vibrant as VIVID
Thanks for sharing! I don't get why Samsung would want to hide this setting...

Mind sharing the sub reddit link from where you got that?
The phone automatically switches modes like when viewing a movie, right?
Or not? Or is it there for 3rd party apps to utilize?
If not set to natural though it blows the saturation through the roof for pictures. Couldn't see setting it to vivid or cinema all the time.
Color calibration/throughput has always been a huge issue with Androids... still is.
