[Q] Problems installing stock RUU WWE Rom. Any help?

Hi, everyone.
Got a Desire 2.1 update-1 branded by Orange ES. Hboot is 0.83. Dunno if it's SLCD or OLED, does it matter anyway?
Used unrevoked to successfully root and installed a custom recovery (unrevoked standard). Right after this the phone wouldn't go past the HTC logo but I could still get recovery screen. I tried a recovery but it didn't work either. From there I tried installing RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed.exe (which is the one I want to upgrade from to stock Froyo2.2) but I got a problem in the middle of the installation ( installer says I needed to use the proper file for my phone). Then I used the recovery screen to install a custom ROM, AuraxTSense Froyo and that worked (have it on right now) but from this ROM the RUU WWE installer doesn't work either.
Any suggestions?
You'll need a gold card to use the stock RUU file - otherwise your phone doesn't pass the CID check because it's branded...

The Error code the installer gives me is "131" if that helps. On the phone it shows "CID error, cannot continue". Any ideas what does this mean? Help? Please?

now i know.. after flashing to stock RUU WWE, can i still use the unrevoke technique you taught me?
i did flash my phone using stock RUU WWE Europe (as far as i can remember) and thinking to flash WWE Asia... i cant get 3G/GPRS/MMS settings in my carrier.. im thinking if flashing WWE Asia ROM could solve the problem...
Quite possibly yes, and yes you can re-root with unrEVOked once done
thanks again EddyOS ill flash right away
Ok, so now I did a goldcard and the process seems to go a bit further but it stops. It says "Error 104, wrong hboot version - please install the correct version for your mobile phone". Any answers?
to pass the CID check, try this: htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2934

That now means the HBOOT version you have is newer than the one in the ROM you're trying to flash...What ROM are you trying to flash?
EDIT: If it's still the one in your OP then chances are you'll need the stock 2.10.405.2 RUU to get the generic ROM on the handset. You can get it by clicking on the version on my signature

[Q] I cant install WWE 2.29 to Vodafone Turkey 2.31 because of Error [140]

Hello,
I have a Desire with 2.31.184.3 version in Turkey but i dont have market application. I want to instal wwe rom without root (because of warranty) for market, but it fails..
I tried 3 way for installing.(First of all i made a gold card...)
1)RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.exe
when i try to setup, it fails and gives an error massage (Error [140] Bootloader etc). Than i tried with opening bootscreen ("Vol down"+"power") than click .exe file, it gave the same error ([140])
2)PB99IMG_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.zip
I changed its name into PB99IMG.zip then copied into SD card than shut down my desire and opened with bootscreen ("Vol down"+"power"). It tried to instal PB99IMG.zip but it fails. There was an error message which is "Main version is older!"
3 and the last) PB99IMG_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_159811_signed.zip
I changed its name into update.zip. I went in bootscreen and press recovery. when phone reset i saw a /!\ massage than i pressed "Vol up"+"Power* than opened recovery screen. Than i selected "Apply sdcard:update.zip", it gave one more fail
-- Install from sd card...

I cant solve my problem help me please i want to install any android 2.2 WWE rom for market.
I have no idea about your problem but i was thinking of you for not rooting my desire for warranty, today i changed my mind and i rooted my device because of market and slowness. you are right vodafone stock rom sucks slow, no market, annoying if u change ur mind try oxygen gingerbread rom and applanet is working now maybe u don't need to root ur device.i'm from turkey also
Aren't there any solution?

i have gold card.. when try without gold card it gives error [131].
OK...you're on 2.31.184.3, which is for your operator (Vodafone Turkey). To flash any other version, in this case the generic 2.29.405.5 WWE version, you need a gold card.
However, as you're on a newer version than 2.29.405.5 you're probably going to need to downgrade first. Follow this guide to go back to 1.21.405.2:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
Once done, you can then flash the 2.29.405.5 RUU over it (with your gold card, of course) and you should then be on 2.29.405.5.
Bare in mind you probably won't be able to update OTA going by the last update
Thanks for this guide but it needs root. if i root my phone, its warranty will be gone. so i need a solution without root. (if there is)
Thanks a lot i read wrong it doesnt need root. im going to try it=)
There isn't one, unless the RUU for your current version turns up

[Q] Un-rooting with 0.93 hboot

Hi to all bros,
I have hboot 0.93 and rooted using un-revoked. Now there's something wrong with the hardware and need to send it for servicing, so i need to un-root it. i tried using the ruu but to no success because of the hboot version i guess. Any idea?
thanks in advance.
Pretty sure you have to use the goldcard method, as your hboot version is newer than the one you are flashing.

Hi I have the same problem. im using 0.93 locked to t-mobile, I tried the goldcard on the only Ruu that matched which was non of the t-mobile ones and it failed customer ID error, I have also tried the downgrade method and it failed on CID check I have redone the goldcard several times and still no joy.
currently I have reloaded the t-mobile Rom recovery file from clockworkmod I backed it up on root before I flashed a custom rom and bellow is the version numbers im using atm.
hboot 0.93
Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Software 2.12.110.4
I also loaded stock Rom 2.2 with the latest software 2.29.405.2 and .5 using the same baseband and both errored out Im only a novice at this and Ive prob spent a day in total and a load of dead end results on forums, pulling my hair out on this as I dont understand some of the terminolgy at best of times and all I get is "like the above" yeah it will work doing this. I have tried everything and nothing works ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!
Just download and install the newest OTA-Update by T-Mobile. After this procedure your phone should be un-rooted.
Just tried that and it says signature check fail. so that didnt work either.

Yes, this error means, your are using the wrong RUU. You really have to use a RUU from T-Mobile, your software-number (2.12.110.4) clearly shows this. So in your RUU name has to be the combination "TMO_UK". And do not forget to compare the radioversion.
I did the exactly that ^^^ after finally getting the goldcard to work, it loaded through the whole process of loading the T-mobile uk ruu and now my phone is buggered I get a blank screen it vibrates on and the keys light up. now its flashed the whole thing, its wiped my recovery so I cant even enter blind and reload previous Rom.
I dont think I can fix this as Unrevolked wont work as phone is stuck in usb charge mode. Ive have no idea how to fix this as it seems very few people have 0.93 hboot with blank screen issue as well as getting 130 or 140 errors on every ruu exept the t-mobile ones that buggered my phone in the first place. All ive returned on a fix is load anouther exe ruu and reflash but I cant because it errors 130 cid on all of them.
plz help I have no idea what to do.
Get a more compatible RUU from
Here:
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Desire
or here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667
MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING PROPER RUU... GSM FOR GSM PHONE CDMA FOR CDMA PHONE
run the ruu but do not continue and do not close...
go to temp folder where files extracted and copy or move rom.zip to desktop
(tmp folder varies for windows operating system.. windows xp C:\documents and setting\(user folder)\local settings\tmp\(folder with letters and numbers.. just look in them) )
rename rom.zip PB99IMG.zip and move to root of sd card
boot into hboot;(With power off hold down volume button and press power; do not release volume down untill screen lights up).. wait for parsing file then press volume up to confirm install files.
it will reboot and continue do not pull battery!!

[Q] Unlocking non-listed RUU ROM

Is it possible to unlock phones that aren't included in the table on HTC dev and therefore don't have a RUU available??
I'm on telecom New Zealand which isn't listed, anything I can do??

dude I had exact same problem. i update to 2.3.5 and HBOOT did not changed from 0.90.000.
So I manage to DL another RUU from HTCDEV (asia) and update HBOOT once again (this was impossible before updating to 2.3.5). then it changed.
then I unlocked .

First of all, I got "ROM IS NOT SUPPORTED" error when I tried to use one of the RUU files mentions in HTCDEV. ( ASIA , EUR , .... )
so I found my rom's HBOOT is not released yet. (my main rom was ARABIC)
So I updated my rom to EUR 2.3.5 ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363693).
But this update didnt changed my HBOOT, it was still 0.9.000.
SO then I updated ASIA RUU (PG7610000_Marvel_hboot_1.08.0099_20111216.exe) once again and it worked this time and updated my HBOOT. it changed the HBOOT version to 1.08.0099. (as i mentioned this RUU did not installed on my phone prior to updating to 2.3.5 due to "ROM IS NOT SUPPORTED" error).
after that I followed the steps on HTC dev and bootloader unlocked!

Actually i had flashed the EU rom in the first place everything got updated n it worked fine too but the bootloader was not getting updated! tried other methods to update the bootloader which failed too! So that got me worried that i cannot update my bootloader!
Flashed the same Asia rom.
Downloaded the RUU from htvdev for bootloader 1.08.0099 India!
Then when i ran the ruu got an error n it didnt let me install it..
Then got two files rom_1.zip and rom_2.zip from the temp files..
rom_2.zip contained the hboot update files so tried flashing that by renaming it to PG76IMG.zip and making a goldcard but it skipped the bootloader update again!!
then i first flashed the rom_1.zip first (which updated my radio) then the rom_2.zip (updated bootloader and then changed the radio again) n my bootloader got updated successfully!!!! B-)
so i just flash different roms if my ruu is not on the list and that will work?

Exact same position as you Larz, HBoot update keeps being bypassed when trying to update... Tryed different ROMS by extracting the rom.zip and changing the file name to PG76IMG with the same result for each one...

Ok so I brought the phone from Telecom, it says its a A510b, model number PG76120 (found behind the battery, just below the SIM card slot)
So what I have done to achieve this result:
1: Simply sign up to the HTCdev website www.htcdev.com/bootloader/ once done, select the HTC Wildfire S from the drop list to begin
2: After accepting all the terms and agreements bla bla their is a list of ROMS, their was only 3 options for the model that I have PG76120, so I downloaded the HTC Thailand RUU
3: Ok so if you end up running the RUU it will tell you that the ROM is out of date with an error message, what I found out (this took me all day...) when you first open the RUU (this is if you run Windows) their will be a Temp folder made with all the files that the RUU needs to run, if you search the Temp Folder (usually found under the user folder in Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Temp) these files will only exist if you leave the RUU Program open, so just open it up and move the window to the side, search under the Temp folder for rom
4: You will find 2 zip folders named rom_01 and rom_02, copy these 2 zips to your desktop
5: Now change the name of rom_01 (im not 100% sure if its 01 or 02 that you need to do first, I cant remember) to PG76IMG and copy it over to a microSD, insert into your phone and boot into HBoot, it will go through the normal process of detecting and then opening the zip and will ask you if you wish to update the radio to v2 (it should only ask to update the radio, because you need to do it first before you use the second file which asks to update both the radio and hboot) allow to do so and it will do its thing and when completed ask to reboot.
6: Now change the name of the second rom (if I have the order right this should be rom_02) to PG76IMG, remove the first file you put on the microSD and replace it with second, back into HBoot, it will read the file and ask you to update HBoot and Radio, allow it to do so and it will update the HBoot, should say OK next to HBoot, once completed it will ask to be rebooted
7: To check that this has all happended correctly, go back into HBoot (remove your microSD before this) and you should have a pink box up the top stating *LOCKED* if you see this and your HBoot version is now 1.08.0099 (if you used the RUU that I did) you are now ready to go through the HTCdev Bootunlock process
8: Do the HTCdev Bootunlock process, it is straight forward and easy to do!
9: Forget needing to use the XTC and starting modding you HTC Wildfire S!!!
Thanks!!
Just rooted my WFS!!!

You should extract the rom.zip file from the RUU file and renamed PB98IMG.Zip, written on 2G or 4G memory card (FAT32 format) and installed in memory card. CID should be considered carefully before rom okay!

Hi, thanks for a reply. but can you explain this in more detail I'm a kind of new.
Which directory is the ROM.zip file in? \local\temp while RUU is running?
PB or PG? typo?
Can i use my current SD card, not sure what format it is but its running in the phone at the moment?
why should I consider CID? do you mean check the ROM I'm about to flash is the right one?
Once its one the memory card how do I install it?
Many thanks.
After Googling PB98IMG.Zip it came up with threads talking about upgrading the radio...???? And possibilities of bricking the phone?

If your device is S-ON you won't be able to flash a RUU unless it is for your device. It doesn't matter how you are doing it, it won't work you if you don't use a goldcard.

Yes my device is S-ON, the RUU says its for my phone but it comes up with an error saying ROM is not supported. I am trying to make a goldcard but i cant get the img file since http://psas.revskills.de/?q=goldcard is not running. I did contact Gene Pool for him to generate me one, I'm waiting for a reply.
