[Q] Epic 4g Touch not recognized by computer

Hi all, having a problem with my new Epic 4g Touch.
I rooted it, then after having some other problems, tried to flash back to stock via Odin. Not sure if I did something wrong, but in the middle of the flash, Odin had an error. Now the phone won't boot.. it goes straight to the [phone]....[!]....[computer] screen with the text "Firmware upgrade encountered." It goes to the same screen when I try to boot into recovery. It also goes to this screen when the phone is off and I plug it in (ie, there is no battery charging screen).
I can get into download mode, but I can't get my computer to recognize that the phone is plugged in. I have tried multiple computers, different USB ports, different cables, re-installing drivers on the computer, but no matter what I try, the computer never makes any indication that the phone is plugged in. Kies won't see it, Odin won't see it, nothing in device manager, no alert sound when plugging/unplugging, nothing.
I am afraid I have a soft brick on my hands and I might have to take it back to the Sprint store or send it to Samsung (used a USB jig to reset bin count to 0). Anyone have any idea how to get the computer to see it again so I can just try flashing it again?
SAME PROBLEM, PLEASE HELP, PLEASE. If you fixed yours tell me how.
Anyone come up with successful suggestions to this issue? I think I'm now in the same boat after going back to stock. I can't get any computer/cable combination so see the device, which keeps me from using Odin to fix it. Thanks!
I've gotten in that mode before. It does it whenever the phone has been opened in the special mode for updating (which is done by ODIN during the flash process and is a step beyond ODIN D/L mode), but that mode is not closed down properly. It'll do that even if you flash an unused partition like recovery.bin, so it has no bearing on whether your ROM is actually bricked or not. It is just the default behavior when the special flash mode wasn't close down properly.
USB jig restored functionality.
That is assuming you weren't flashing a GSM ROM by mistake.

[Q] No data transfer through charging cable.

This occurred after I rooted and installed MIUI V4. I want to say that I was able to successfully connect to a computer at least once or twice while on MIUI before this problem started happening. The phone is still able to be charged while hooked up to a computer. I've since flashed over to CM9 and the problem persists. I've tried booting into recovery and mounting usb storage that way. I've also tried to enter download mode and odin was unable to connect. The device hasn't experienced any trauma that I am aware of either, the port looks fine/etc. I guess what I really want to know is: Is this some sort of kernel issue or bootloader type thing that can be repaired by going back to stock; or is it purely a hardware issue?
You might try using a different usb port or try another usb cable. Also try to reinstall the samsung drivers to your computer. Hopes this helps.
Thanks, I've tried all of the obvious things. That's why I'm wondering if it could be a corrupt kernel or something like that.

Cdma nexus to stock without computer??

is there a way to get back to stock without using a computer? there is an issue with my USB port and I'm getting the charging/discharging issue when there is nothing plugged into the phone and my computer wont recognize the phone and i need to take it in for replacement. everything i find when i search needs a computer? i have tried to clean out the port and all that and nothing works? thanks for any help!

[Q] Changing firmware without Odin or root access

Hi there,
I know it's a bit of a stretch but I don't know what to do at the moment.
My Note 2 is behaving strangely as it's not being detected by my pc, just charging. I have tried different PCs and cables with same result. Some time ago, when connecting the usb, it would hang or stop charging and the screen would not turn off when not used. I had rooted the phone and after the official update came out, I let the phone install it. Right now I do not have root access and when trying to update the binaries, it would not let me. I would have gone to the shop to check maybe the USB port is damaged but since it has 1 count on download mode and Super SU installed, i believe it's not covered by warranty.
I was looking to reinstall the official firmware untouched but I can't possibly do it as I cannot use Odin or CWM since its not rooted.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Install drivers.
If odin doesn't detect phone in download mode then it could be a hardware issue as well.

[Q] Cant turn S3 on..

so yesterday I rooted my S3 and installed custom rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2476970
D2att version!
It was working fine but due some errors on theme, phone contacts and messages i decided to try I9300 international version of rom and then it went off for reboot and didnt started since...
now I cannot turn it on AT ALL! no download mode or recovery mode...
I tried taking battery out for couple of minutes and plug it back in but didnt work ..
when i connect it to computer usb port i can hear computer sound alert you get when connect USB but nothing happens
-no charging logo on phone
-no usb detect on pc
but i can hear usb connection and disconnection sound alert.
anyone knows how to resolve ?
NOTE: pic i attached is prior to all this root and rom install
The international version uses a different processor. It's never a good idea to flash roms for other devices. If you can get into download mode you may be able to flash back to stock. If not, you may be hard bricked and will need a JTAG service.

Take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2345860
I was able to go from a completely unresponsive phone back to normal by reading that thread and several like it. From what I can gather flashing the wrong version is a really bad idea. Not what I did but same end result. if this doesn't work for you google JTAG phone repair.

Jeez, it sounds like this could be a hard brick For the future NEVER flash a rom made for anything other than your specific device! More than likely, you will need a JTAG service to revive your phone and get it back to normal...
