I've put a different rom on my phone a couple of times now, but because of the data wipe, I always lose emulator data. All the games (and the apps) are still on my SD card, but saves and things get wiped. I'm looking to upgrade to FXP054 from CM7, but don't want to lose all the saves, particularly on the FPSE games.
Is there an easy way of doing this?
Thanks

Hi -
I'm considering the possibility of installing an App2SD rom (getting really frustrated with the lack of space on the desire). What I'm wanting to know is that:
a) If I do a titanium backup of my non app2sd rom, and install an app2sd rom, and do a full restore (including system settings?), would I be able to have all my apps and data as they were on the new rom?
b) Does having the apps and data on the sd card slow the application down (is memory card access now slower than internal access?)
c) How easy, and pain free is is to install an app2sd rom? (looking at leedroid). My phone is already rooted.
d) Is there anything anything else worth noting before I go ahead with it e.g. poor battery life, likelihood of bricking phone etc.
Many thanks!

a) No. Restoring system apps will cause FCs to say the least. Only restore user apps. Setting stuff can easily be recovered and not worth the hassle.
b) Yes. It will be slower. NAND is much faster than SD will ever be. A workaround is never to install system apps, widgets, keyboards and the like to the SD card.
c) Maybe about 2 or 3 more reboots and about 2 hours of your time, likely to be less
d) Since you've rooted, the most dangerous part is already over. I'm amazed that you are not on a custom ROM already.
Have a problem with backup but don't want to open a new thread.
I have backed up SMS and call log with SMS backup+ on to my gmail.
Did a full wipe and when i tried to restore it restored only my SMS, call log is still on my gmail and i can see it. How can i restore that on my phone?
I am having some trouble with Titanium Backup. I love switching Roms to try out all the new looks but there are a few apps, Angry Birds specifically, that I would like to save the data for. It gets real tiring trying to complete all the levels again. I back up the program and when I go to verify it, I get an error. I used to use Evonosensne but now I upgraded to Kings Unleashed Blakk R3. Its a great rom but I would like to have my angry birds progress back. When I try to restore it on the new rom it just reboots the Rom during the process.
I have tried using multiple versions of busybox, including the one from the app and the latest one from the busybox installer. Hopefully it is some user mistake that I am doing but could use some help.
When using titanium, backup all user apps and data, then when you restore, only restore the app+data, not system settings; that could be your problem.
teh roxxorz, how is your method different than backing up the apps individually or manually? I thought either method still backed up the same content - the app & its respective data.
It isn't exactly different, because you go into the app, press menu, batch, then select backup apps+data. It seems something that you're doing when restoring isn't letting it do it correctly, cuz I use the same method and have no problems.
Could it be that in addition to the content stored in the /data area, there is additional content stored on the sd? I'm not familiar with the app the OP is having issues with, but have seen this behavior with beautiful widgets. Specifically, when using a custom skin, if the SD card is not available, or the files are missing from the SD, my custom skin is no longer available.
I've used Titanium to do my back-ups on my old Galaxy Vibrant, so I have a general understanding of how it works. My question is this though, when I did back-ups in the past, they were saved to the SD card (I think), but the GNEX doesn't have an SD card. So if I do a back-up, won't the back-up I just made get erased when I wipe data before flashing a new ROM? Also, what about my pictures, will they get erased? I have hundreds of pictures on my phone, maybe even over 1000 TBH. I don't want to have to reload everything again. And last, does Titanium back-up your progress in games? I seem to remember that it does, but I don't remember for sure.
Any guides out there for doing Titanium back-ups on the Gnex? Why didn't those silly people just give us an sd card slot
ok even though it does not have a physically removable sd card it still does not get wiped when flashing roms and wiping the data cache partition. only if you do a factory data reset from the phone's settings. I've never needed to do that so dont worry i have 1000's of pics too. I'd back em up just in case on your laptop for safe measure though anyways. also when you backup th apps it does not save game progress unless you backup the app's data. then it should save preferences and progress and all that good stuff. Thank me if it helps!!
Ok, another thing I just thought of. After I flash the new ROM and enter my email, the phone is going to start automatically downloading all my apps, obviously I don't want to do that since I'm going to restore them with Titanium. How do I turn off the auto-downloading of apps?

No it won't. It only restores your apps if you decide to not turn off the "restore my apps and settings" option. It's on by default, simply turn it off after you've entered your Gmail account. It's the next or the second screen after you logged into your Gmail account.
Ok, now my phone doesn't want to mount when I connect it to my computer. It charges, it just won't mount. ftw....

Not sure about the mount issue but I will tell you to definitely leave the auto restore on and let the market automatically download your apps after a wipe. You want to do this because it will automatically install the apps where as titanium will take forever and you have to manually tap install. Then once the apps are installed go to titanium and just backup so data only which is you game progress and preferences and such. I found this out the hard way lol

In my experience, the restore and wipe cache (maybe wipe data too) only clean the system/ or /cache, and leave the sdcard/ untouched. So the data backup by Titanium back-ups should work rightly.
BTW, I have some problem about using Titanium back-ups. If I always want to keep the newest backup of both application and system data, are the any useful script?
Although there's a script could backup the new application that installed after last backup, but what about the new system app/data? Because sometimes I may have change ROM and it will add some new system app/data.
So far, I use the script that backup all the system/application data. But I wonder it may leave duplicate backup to some app, that's the condition I want to avoid.
Any idea?
Hi, just got my Nexus and it had Foxhound rom installed. I then went to Android revolution but back to Foxhound.
How much available space should I have after a fresh install? I have about 8GB free, is this normal? Misc. takes 4GB. There I see android (1.65GB), clockworkmod(700mb, probably the nandroid backup?) and gameloft(1GB).
Also, what about "aura"?
I didn't have any gameloft games installed, could this still be from the previous user? (I got it used) I tried to find this data with a file explorer but had no luck.
I used CWM(wipe dalvik and everything else) and Superwipe script before flashing. Do they not delete everything on the device?
You definitely have a lot of extra files that you can delete. If you keep moving roms like that, back up any important data or pictures you have, and format the virtual SD. Next to things that you personally want to have, nothing stored there is vital to the phones OS.
Can I format normally with Windows?
Hi All,
I have searched many many times for an answer to this and its driving me NUTS!!!
After a clean ROM install, I restore my games using Titanium Backup (both app and data), however for games with large data download requirements (such as most Gameloft games) the game makes me download the game data again. (some game data is up to 1GB)
The game data is sitting on my SD card - why the hell should I have to re-Download it?!?!?!?
There must be a way around this - I cannot be the only one!
Games I am talking about include: Asphalt 7, TDKR, great big war game, N.O.V.A 2 and many similar to this.
I am currently on ViperDHD rom, but have had this same problem before flashing other ROMs.
I don't understand why restoring my backup from Titanium does not work??
I want to flash clean Roms, but this is really holding me back - I can't be re-downloading GBs of the SAME data OVER and OVER again. I dont have the download capacity or time to do this each time.
Please tell me someone has an answer to this??
No one??
surely I cant be the only one with this problem?? :crying:
If its already there it should not redownload but the download sight does need to verify the data to see if its official. There is no way around it.
Also do not restore the data its already there, just restore the app and let market verify the data.

Thanks for your reply.
Verify data is one thing, but the app completely re-downloads the data. I will try and restore the app alone and see what happens. I thought I would need to restore the data in order to restore my previous save game progress??
I have also seen someone say if I copy the data to a different location, run the app once, cancel the download, then move the data back to the original location, then run the app again it should work. So I will try that as well and see how I go...

did you get any further with this? i have the same issue but not all my games. Asphalt7 nova3, nova2 all restore ok without downloading(im using directory bind with those, not sure if this is affecting it) but wild blood(also directory bind),realracing3 still want to download the data all again. Even though it's data folder is still there in sdcard. i have tried just to restore the app, app+data. The only way it seems is to delete the folder, download again, restore data and then i can pick up from where i left the game. but that's a bit slow.
how to restore nfsmw data via titanium back up.. it dowsnot download data it gives error.
