[Q] Root stopped working on EI22 - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The first time I woke up my phone was charging... Unlocked it then fell asleep (it was 4:30) Then next thing I know I just reboot and it says this
Sorry!
com.nosufu.su.process
SuperUser has stopped working...
Now when I reboot it or do anything that requires root it pauses, says the same thing and then the app says no root found! Anyway to restore access without flashing a new rom?
BTW:I'm running ACS ICS v5 with ACS Recovery 5.1.0.0

Odin in cwm 5.0.2.7 and reflash your su.zip
Or just reflash a su.zip it could fix it aswell

Can I adb it back to the way it was?

Ok I'm taking Biggerons advice and reinstalling ACS ICS V5 (Do I have to wipe data? I know its like the unspoken rule but they are both the same rom same build number and kernel would there be any risk?)

Do a battery pull again, when you start up, hold vol+down to get into the bootloader, then try selecting recovery.

RUU is a stock image, it will unroot him, then he can re-root.
http://www.shipped-roms.com/shipped/Supersonic/
Download the RUU, from bootloader, select fastboot, connect the phone to the pc, once the phone shows fastboot usb, then thr ruu exe on the computer. After that, re-root using unrevoked.
i'm still waiting to RUU to download, but I got my other buddies to work since he waited for me lol but for some reason gmail contacts won't back-up but all other gmail things sync. Do you think it's network (google) thing or cyanogen?

Yes this is the Sprint Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch section.
Did you make a nandroid backup 1st? (If Yes, restore your backup) Did you go into "mounts and storage" and format "/system" before you wiped data/cache/dalvik cache?
Odin another rom.
Search for and download odin v1.85. Then download a .tar file. Where ever you find these items, you'll also find good instructions.
Then try flashing starburst again.

I would suggest 5.0.2.3, or 5.0.2.6 Also...make sure you format cache/dalvik/data/system at least 3X each. If that doesn't work, then try redownloading the ROM. Might've gotten a borked download.

Use this: LoStkernel or this: CWM
But I'm willing to bet that you either didn't format system in the mounts and storage menu or it didn't take when you tried. I would retry StarBurst again first, making sure to Format System Under Mounts and Storage and making sure it succeeds. Then you won't have to worry about any of the other stuff.
Yeah, CWM can be quirky

Phone works great. Little hard on my eyes, might be the coloring of the theme. I just want to try something new, like CM9, but noticed that I have to go back to GB before I can go to CM9. Im just confused as to what to do now.

I do not have the mobile odin.
Ok well Odin on PC would work fine. Download all your files (rom, gapps, whatever you need to) and flash the el26 kernal with cwm. Then when that's finished and your phone tries to reboot, pull the battery and then put it back in, then boot into the recovery. Wipe all data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, then flash rom, then gapps and whatever else you may need. Be sure to do a nandroid backup when you first get into recovery.

el26_stockcwm.tar.md5?
So I just boot into recovery, flash from that and then as its rebooting i pop battery out, go back into recovery and load up CM9 and then load up gaps and let its start?
Be sure to wipe everything first. And yes that .tar file is the one you need. Do yourself a favor and re-read the cm9 installation process just to be safe.

Ok, if you want gapps, then download whichever kernal the rom comes with, just the kernal tho. Then flash el26cwm again and flash gapps, then before you reboot, flash the kernal that you had just downloaded with rom. You won't lose any data so you have nothing to worry about.

Ok.
So Im using Odin PC to put EL26CWM back onto the phone, then boot up the phone into recovery. Then I flash gapps onto it, but before restarting flash the kernel thats supposed to come with CM9. Right?
Now, I don't really like the recovery that comes with CM9, I feel like the display is a lot darker and I don't have as many options. Can I use another recovery?
Also my boot screen is for the I9100 and it has a yellow triangle. Whats that about?
Don't worry about the yellow triangle for now. We'll get rid of that later. And about the recovery, no. Leave the one that it comes with. If you flash a gb kernal then your phone won't boot. And the ice recovery isn't safe. And it won't be until source comes out and our devs make a safe cwm for pics. Til then, just stick with what you've got.

[NEW][KERNEL][REPACK] FL16 with AGAT tREC_v0.3.2 recovery

After countless attempts and many hours of trial and error
I present the FL16 Repack Kernel with new recovery tRec_0.3.2.
This recovery has been compiled with CM10 (JB) source and works better with JB roms/OS.
The repack is not perfect yet but it can be used as daily driver as is.
I'll continue working on it and try to fix remaining bugs.
Now to repack.
What is working:
Backup
Restore
Flash zip files
Wipe Dalvik
Wipe cache
Wipe/Factory Reset
Restore Nand back up created by previous recovery/previous OS
Apps on sd and paid apps problem is mostly fixed.
You can reboot phone, power off from power down menu or from quick boot.
Apps on sd and/or paid apps will disappear only after battery pull and/or when you restore nand back up coming from ICS.
I did perform following tests.
Restore ICS back up from JB kernel/recovery - Restore complete phone booted.
Restore JB back up while running ICS - Not going through in one run. It will restore boot/recovery and bail on system restore. Just boot to recovery from boot menu. It will take you to new recovery. Start restore again and you JB back up will be restored
Flashed ICS rom from JB recovery - flash went thru. Phone booting normally.
Flashed JB (Shadow-God's rom) from ICS recovery - flash went thru. Phone booting normally.
Restored JB back up while running JB rom - restore completed. Phone booted normally. Apps on sd and paid apps are present.
This is a short list of all tests performed thus far.
I know there are quite a few good JB roms and I don't wanna delay release anymore.
So here we go:
AGAT_FL16_repack2.tar
As stated above apps on sd and paid apps issue is arising only after battery pull and/or nand restore from ICS.
In case that happens to you I'll suggest to keep Mobile ODIN and a stock kernel tar handy so if you have to pull the battery you
can flash stock kernel reboot phone and flash repack again.
Hopefully I can fix last remaining bugs soon.
Till than
Enjoy.

I tried reflashing the kernel doing a recovery tried to flash my old boot image but it was corrupt I tried to flash a stock kernel reinstall it that didn't work and I don't know what else to do every method I've tried continues to give me the unexpected error in the stweaks app I'm rooted stock with the perceus kernel running xposed on a att galaxy note 2 sgh i317.
I have the same issue but with Adam kernel 2.7. Really hope there is a fix to this problem.
Have you tried to uninstall S tweaks and than reinstall.

Wondering if you made a back up of your Rom. If you did:thumbup:
Then try to flash another Rom, install your kernel of choice, then install Stweaks after that. Reboot then try running the app again! See if you get the same error!! Might just be some corrupt data in there causing you that problem!!
If problem persist then I'll recommend doing a full wipe of your system. If you want to have a clean slate too work from..

Ok the part about reinstalling data! If that's from a back up, that's not recommend!!
Restoring data is where you'll get your PROBLEMS!!!:banghead:
Especially back up data from another Rom!
If your not happy with your results there's plenty of TW Rom's in the development section..

I read in one of the forums that you can reinstall just the data not the boot img and all that good stuff and it would work. If this isn't the case I'll just get titanium backup.

Yes you can do that I've done it in the past. But I just prefer to start fresh. That way there's no issue of PROBLEMS!! Because restoring just brings over existing issues! From your previous system set up...
But try it, if it works great then your good to go.
If not then start over as I SAID ok...
