Best keyboard and mouse - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Accessories

OMDs (oh my days)
why did i waste money buying the iPad. this thing is amazing. i love the galaxy tab 10.1. I just got the 32GB one. i have it connected to my motorola keyboard and mouse. it works so well. its basically a computer. i love it. anyway, instead of buying the keyboard dock, just get a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. i absolutely love it.
please if anyone has any suggestions about how to configure the keys on the keyboard, like the apps drawer open key, i would love you to leave a comment.

O YES it does. works like a charm.only niggle is the dedicated gmail and app drawer buttons dont work. You can live without those trust me. All the other buttons work well asides the two i mentioned. Hope that helps

I'm considering buying a keyboard for the SGT 10.1 and i was thinking about the Samsung OEM keyboard because it is the nearest to a notebook for the SGT. This Motorola keyboard is a bluetooth one? If so, how long does its battery last? Do u have a link to the keyboard description?
Thx.

I have been using the same batteries for months now. I don't really know how long they will last for. But maybe 3 months or over.
I will include a picture of my setup in a bit

portable bluetooth keyboard for the 10.1 that has a touchpad
Hello, does anyone know of a portable bluetooth keyboard for the 10.1 that has a touchpad on it. Right now I am using my PS3 bluetooth keyboard with touchpad and it is amazing. There is a cursor that moves and clicks and it makes it so easy then reaching and touching the screen accurately. I would love a keyboard that has a slot that will also hold the tablet up and in place. Thanks. As much as I love using my PS3 keyboard it is NOT portable LOL. Thanks for all suggestions.

Definitely recommend the Motorola keyboard. There is a post on here that has a link to pick up some with a free mouse included.

Besides the Samsung OEM Keyboard for the GT 10.1, is there any other keyboard that acts like a dock. The Motorola Keyboard seems fine, but it won't hold the Tab. I want a keyboard that doesn't need a cover with a stand. Does anyone know of one besides the original samsung keyboard?

Just received the Motorola keyboard & mouse combo today. I would highly recommend both of them for use with your 10.1.
Don't know of any docking syle keyboard for the 10.1.

@ coulter6. were u able to map the gmail button or does it work for you? Let me know the other keys that dont work for you. Cheers.

As for a dock, I know I've seen online somewhere, a keyboard dock that acts as a folding case. It leaves the back of the tab exposed, but it essentially turns it into a portless netbook.

Oops, wrong thread.

Which keyboard should i get? Apple vs Xoom

Hmmm...
Im deciding on a keyboard.
$58 NEW xoom motorola keyboard
$43 USED apple keyboard
my opinions:
xoom is built for an android tablet and has the keys for quicker access.
Apple keyboard is thin and sexy at a cheaper price(but used) + it doesnt have android keys.
Haha I need help deciding on a keyboard.
If you have any other keyboard ideas that are compatible and cheaper. Tell me!
I don't have any ideas for other keyboards, but I can weigh in on the dedicated android keyboard vs. apple keyboard. I've used both, and I have to say that the dedicated android buttons, while nice, aren't really that much more helpful, especially if you plan on investing in a bluetooth mouse as well. I've found that using my Apple Bluetooth keyboard with a Kensington Slimblade Bluetooth mouse is much more efficient in situations where I would need to use a bluetooth keyboard. The Mouse makes it much easier to navigate, and the android keys are on the keyboard to aid in navigation, but aren't all that useful in day to day usage. My advice would be to go with the Apple keyboard if it is in good condition because it being lighter will definitely make up for not having the dedicated android buttons. Aside from that, you can take the money you saved and put it toward a bluetooth mouse.
Apologize for the noob question, but I assume both bluetooth keyboard and mouse work ok with the tab? Any cons to this set up? I might pick up both for school during lectures? TIA
The bluetooth keyboard and mouse work exactly as they would on a regular computer, they pair very easily, and then connect as soon as you turn them on. You can use both at the same time and it essentially turns your tab into an android powered laptop. So far there are no cons that I can see from using this setup. It would actually be a very nice setup for taking notes. Unfortunately, I just finished grad school, so I won't be able to use it for that purpose, although my Galaxy Tab 7 with the Samsung keyboard served me very well in my myriad of meetings with my advisor and during those long nights of research.

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to try these items out. Does an actual arrow pop up once a bluetooth mouse connects?

Bluetooth Mini Keyboard confirmed working

Just wanted to give you all the heads up, I got one of these bluetooth mini keyboards the other day and it works beautifully with our beloved Epic 4G Touch. Just turn it on, pair it and you're good to go. No root or third party app or plugin needed. The keyboard is cheap (inexpensive) as hell but it works great and is pretty cool. It is smaller than the phone, and easily fits in your pocket.
I didn't get it from this guy so I'm not vouching for the seller but it is that keyboard. They are all over ebay for $10-$15.

Man that keyboards small. Is it really any faster that using the touch keyboard or is it just a gimmick? Looks cool though.
I ordered an HP Bluetooth keyboard with that coupon that was floating around in hopes of using it with the next batch of touchpads... Well that's out of the question now... but it works great with the ET4G, was just kind of weird figuring how to pair it (type the code on the keyboard for anyone that doesn't know).

I am a very efficient touch typer so the hardware keyboard does slow me down a bit but it's still cool to play with. So far I have just been using it to type texts when I'm in my car (at red lights of course!) and the phone is in the car dock. It's actually pretty convenient in that regard.
Good to hear! I picked one up from Fry's electronics when they were clearancing them out for my old EVO. What a ***** that was to set up. I use it mostly for dosbox, but haven't had the time to set it up thinking I would have to hack it back to working. BTW plug for AnDOSbox, it runs amazing on this phone!
Does it have predictions? LoL, sorry but unless I get a normal size keyboard I don't see the point of this, but good to know it works (SwiftKey x)
this keyboard works too:

Have you actually tried that keyboard and can you confirm FIRST HAND that the mouse pad does work? If you say yes then I'm buying it right away.

Yes, I still have the keyboard
it paired up right away
again the thing that surprised me was that I never knew the phone had a mouse pointer
But it comes up when you connect this keyboard

How do the keys feel?
Does anybody know if logitech revue bluetooth keyboard works on ps3 or samsung epic touch?

Bluetooth Android Keyboard

Hi guys,
Do any Note owners use a bluetooth keyboard? (and mouse?)
Instead of buying a PC for my bedroom which I don't really need, I am just gonna connect my Note to my TV using the HDMI cable but it would be nice if I had a decent keyboard and mouse to use when browsing the web. They do not have to be tiny since they will be used at home but does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!
Pictures, videos, links welcome.

Honestly man they all work equally well. I have the Motorola BT keyboard and it's very comfortable. It includes the media features like the play/pause/stop/skip/and volume as well as some shortcut buttons for the browser, music, back, and home button. It's nice and easy to use. I also have the logitech mouse and it works nicely. But it's really up to what would be most comfortable to you as they all work pretty much the same.
This one looks good

SOLVED: online reviews have this paired to older phones and tablets with FROYO and GB.. so yup its all ok.

Any other recommendations for a bluetooth keyboard & mouse set for the Galaxy Note???
(I am assuming it has to be bluetooth since I will be using the MHL cable to connect to a TV.)

I have the logitech keyboard and it does not work with the stock rooted GB note OOTB. I am waiting for ICS to troubleshoot it if I will even need to. Supposedly it will work with anything above android 3.0. It does come with a very nice multi-function case/stand though, so when it does work with the note I will probably begin carrying it instead of my laptop.

also using I-Tec Bluetouch 243 laser mouse (small to midsize, nice to use)
with on/off switch,
3 cursor speeds,
pressing scrollwheel opens menu
(the 2 additional side buttons so far without function on my note)
I found this one on ebay and would like to try it:
It's 14$, it is big enough for 10 finger writing and it looks very nice. Has anyone maybe tried it?
Wireless Keyboard 6mm Ultra Slim Aluminium Bluetooth 3.5 For PC Macbook Mac iPad
I can't post links, but you can find it in ebay for about $14.
It seems to be made mainly for Apple devices, do you guys think it will work with Android as well?

Logitech Tablet Keyboard

I just purchased and began using today the Logitech® Tablet Keyboard for Win8/RT and Android
[Was gonna post a link or URL here but not allowed to as new user]
So far I am very impressed. Was easy to pair yet secure where you need to enter a code on the keyboard that displays on the SGN 10.1. Has solid feel, used (4) AAAs that are installed when you get it. Bought at Best Buy for $69.99.
Has a hard carry case that apparently can double as a stand....have not tried that and don;t plan to as I use the Belkin cover that stands the SGN 10.1 up nicely.
I use the Samsung soft keyboard most so I didn't have to turn off SwiftKey or anything. I do notice that the soft or virtual keyboard pops up more often than I would like, but it is easily enough dismissed.....if someone has a way to improve that I am all ears by the way.
Will update later but really liking it so far.

Mine has a lag between inputting and what you've inputted appearing on screen.
Sadly in the UK (ane EU) Logitech are a few years behind the market and only sell the Apple version.
I didn't have any luck with this keyboard. It was laggy and also every now and then repeated keys infitely. I tried it out on my Windows 7 laptop and had similar issues. I ended up going with the Galaxy Tab 8.9 Keyboard Dock instead.
Logitech KB Still OK Here
Still OK here so farwith Logitech Tablet Keyboard with my SGN 10.1 No real lag that I notice.

I have two Logitech keyboards. I purchased the android keyboard many of you are talkiing about a year or more ago. There was some lag.
I just got the Note 10.1 couple weeks ago. I got this keyboard since I was in money spending mode http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/10704?crid=27
The newest keyboard is much smoother, never times out, and is easier to type with. Just my opinion. I just tested both.
I'm jyst barely smart enough to be somewhat dangerous but not nearly as smart as most that follow this stuff. My guess is the new keyboard is more compatible with bluetooth and I wonder if the way they charge has something to do with it. I think the first keyboard charges with batteries and times out. The newer keyboard K810 is a plug in charger. You can let it sit for 30 minutes and it starts up right away the second you start typing.

Bluetooth keyboard help

Okay, so by my limited knowledge on the Acer Iconia Tab a100, it has the Bluetooth build of 2.1+EDR. I wanted to get a cheap bluetooth keyboard for the tablet, so I searched around on Amazon. In almost every keyboard requirement (I want a slim regular sized keyboard, not a mini palm-sized) the requirements said "Bluetooth: 3.0". So, does that mean that the a100 will NOT connect to the keyboard? Or is it backwards compatible? If it doesn't work, I'd like to know where a cheap bluetooth keyboard that works is! Thanks!

I got the $25 BT keyboard from Walgreens and it works. It looks exactly the same as the Anker keyboard on Amazon. It is probably just re-branded.
