Disable dock actions? - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I am wondering if there is anyway to make this phone not do anything when plugged into a dock? I have it sitting on my desk and I would rather it just act like a charger instead of going to clock.
Thanks

How to prevent phone locking when inserting into desktop dock

Hi Guys
I have just got the desktop dock and am pretty pleased with it. My headphones seem to work pretty well with it (with no amp) which surprised me and I like the rotated home screen.
All is good except for that fact that it locks whenever the phone is put in. You get the clock dock view and then have to unlock it to get to anything else.
On my Nexus One with the dock I am pretty sure you were able to configure what happened when you put it in the dock but that doesn't seem to be the case here.
It's pretty annoying. Is there any way round it?
Thanks
there is an app called screebl you could try. its a orientation based app that will keep your screen on unless you have it straight up or lying flat. The orientation is adjustable. Check it out.

Install app called Dock Nothingness (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.geekherd.docknothingness) that will prevent the desk clock from coming up.
But the screen will still timeout and lock based on your security settings, always has (even with Nexus One).

Enable Car Mode?

So I just got my iBolt xProDock and was disappointed when I plugged in my phone and there doesn't appear to be a car mode. Is this something I need to enable or does Samsung no longer offer a car mode app that runs when plugged into a car dock?
I personally don't like car mode, and mine car dock is just a holder. I don't recall seeing anything in the apps list in Titanium Backup.
I saw on a Amazon review of the car dock (linky), iBolt offers one. If you got it an amazon, it should be free.
Usually car mode was enabled because USB plug in car docks had the pins to trigger it. When I looked in the settings, I did not see anything for Car Mode. On my Evo 4G, I could enable car mode without the dock dock since I could access it in the settings.
Worse case scenario, there are plenty of car mode apps, and I'm sure a few good ones that are free.
When you plug in the phone or will turn your main home screen into dock mode just like the is a pen mode and earphone mode. I bolt offers a free app that is actually quite nice that can replace the docking mode with a car mode or is available in the play store and can either be accessed like any app or at to be launched when you plug in the cable they provided

Theres a toggle for driving mode in my pulldown, did they remove it on ma7 it's the 3rd one from the far right on stock ljc.

I like to break stuff!
It is still in MA7, in the drop down menu, unless the end user took it off their drop down, if they did they can put it back, or go into settings and click on language and text/scroll down to text to Speech/enable driving mode from there.
If they took it off their notification panel, to put it back, simply hit Menu/Display/Notification Panel, and drag it back up to the panel, cheers

I couldn't remember if it was on ma7 to save my life lol. I'd only ran it for like 2 days while testing my updates to my rom and then jumped to carbon for a while then back to my ljc build of my stable rom while I work out some kinks in my ma7 build

I'll have to try the iBolt app (or another free one), but I don't see that there is a Car Mode app on my phone anymore. The "Driving Mode" that is in the notification bar isn't what I'm looking for, I want an actual app to run when I plug my phone in that makes navigation, music, ect. easier to use when driving. I'll try the iBolt app tonight and leave feedback.
Thanks!

So the iBolt app is something like what I was expecting to have pre-installed on my phone, that'll work. Now just wondering if I'm missing a setting to make the app run automatically when plugged into the dock (like my HTC did) or if this isn't a feature that works on Samsung phones?

Driving Mode is not the same as Car Mode. Driving Mode just speaks email and text notifications. Rather than trying to find a dock with Car Mode in it, just get a few NFC tags, stick one on your existing dock, and program it to toggle Car Mode off and on. Easy Peasy.

The Note 2 doesn't have a Car dock Mode. That's been taken out by Samsung and it only has a smart dock mode so you'll need to do a couple of things.
First go into “Settings-Accessory” and select “Desk home screen display", now you'll need a car dock launcher like car home ultra (not all apps support Samsung's new dock mode) . Once you've installed a car home app go ahead and dock your phone on the iBolt and you should be given a prompt to choose your default down app. This video explains it all starting at 1:05

All, here's a new video from us here at iBOLT explaining the "DockMode" (as we now call it) in Samsung phones. Also visit Google Play and download the iBOLT Dock'n Drive app.

Desk Dock active notifications not working

Anyone with the desk dock notice that if you have it in "dock mode" where the clock displays always moving on the screen, that you don't get the active notifications?
I can only get them to come back if I make sure the "sleep" the phone so nothing is on the display.
This dock isn't anything special, its a universal dock with a small soft plastic insert molded to fit the bottom of the Moto X. Which is ok if you could buy other inserts for other phones... which I'm sure you can't.
yeah, crap dock. was a total waste of money. and yes, you are correct that there are no Active Notifications. i guess you can rely on Moto Connect through Chrome Browser. i dunno, but the dock is a complete waste of money.

The clock that triggers upon docking is the daydream feature. You can turn that off (Settings > Display > Daydream). Then your active notifications will pulse as normal. Alternatively, you can tap the screen when daydream starts and turn the screen off using the power button.
The desk dock also works with my Nexus 4. You have to pull out the plastic insert to use a Moto X with a case on it anyway. The dock is universal.
I believe your problems are now solved
Source: I own the desktop dock also.
Which dock are you guys referring to? The official Griffin dock?

Daydream is under settings>display.. you can just turn it off or choose what you want it to do.

Desktop cradle that initiates "dock mode"

Has anyone found a third party (or oem) desktop cradle that will automatically put the phone into dock mode? I have read some other forums that mention ways to mod usb cords or other docks with certain resistors between pins 4 & 5 on connector to initiate either car mode or home dock mode based on the resistance. Does anyone know if the same resistance values for other HTC phones apply to vzw HTC one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Just use an nfc tag. Then you can use any dock and still have the same result. Much easier and cheaper

Thanks for the tip! I have seen some posts about using ufc tags. Do I attach the nfc tag to the back of the dock? Do I need a special app to initiate the proper mode/settings upon contact? I had a galaxy nexus and the pogo pin dock prior to this and really liked just setting it in the dock and having it go into bedside mode.
I don't think there is a desktop dock mode in sense 5. If there is I haven't found it. I just bought a cheapy desktop charger and downloaded dock clock plus, then adusted the settings for it to start whenever connected to power seeing as i usually only charge my phone on the nightstand at night.

you will need an app to program the tag. I used NFC task launcher in the past.
I have one on my desk at work. It turns everything off an puts my phone in airplane mode. When I leave I tap it again and it goes into normal mode.
NFC tag would be easiest way to do this. Tasker might be able to do this also.
Thanks everyone for the ideas. When I said bedside mode I was thinking of the daydream mode built in to android 4.2. I am aware that I can set it to turn on when charging as well but sometimes I charge elsewhere and do not want it to go into daydream... Picky I know. My habit of bedside mode actually started way back in my blackberry days. Thanks again for your help and ideas.

Just hit the power button to turn off the screen, when you charge, where you don't want it.
What really annoys me, is that Android does seem to be able to fully turn of back lighting, while still having the LCD active like I could on my Symbian and Sony feature phones. it didn't suck much battery and I could always see the time etc., at night a touch of e.g. The volume key would shortly turn on backlight.

No, Lux cannot completely turn off backlight last time I had it installed (actually bought it). (This is not what op was looking for and I don't want to highjac his thread, so let's stop here.)
I'd just like to be able to turn off the 'dock mode' as it is not something I want when I put the phone in the dock.
Unable to 'Disable'
Tried "Dock No Op"...no luck
Tried "DockNothing" ...no luck
Freaking locked down crap!
You need to get some NFC tags.

Desktop dock mode

Hello everybody. I have switched from a Galaxy S4 to a G4 and one thing I miss (or haven't enabled) is the desktop dock. On my S4 I just put it in the dock (also a Samsung) and it triggers dock mode and then I use Desk Clock Plus. But on G4 nothing gets triggered. Does anybody know if there is such a mode and if there is... am I missing a setting somewhere? Or maybe the Samsung dock is incompatible...
Thanks.
settings, display, daydream dont lock phone while putting it on dock (start up settings both, in daydream)
I have it on dock and it doesn't work. I have an workaround by using the slow charging notification (I have a 700mah power adapter to stress the battery as little as possible) and Trigger app to read the notification and launch the Desktop Clock. But it is just a workaround not the answer.
I want it to launch only when docked otherwise it works correctly if I allow day-dreaming when charging.
