Which forum/subforum should I post in to get help with an app I modified and now it doesn't want to install but it will work if pushed to the data/app after the original unmodified app is installed? Should I post to Android Software and Hacking or Android Software Development?
If you modded an app here then Themes is a good place. Sounds like you didn't sign the app after modding it. The sticky at the top of Themes the Guide to themeing covers that.

Naw, its a non system app. I modded some of the images in the Yahoo Mail app. I took great care to make sure the .9.pngs I modded were modified and repatched correctly. I know the modified app works with no issues since I installed the original app from the market, then pushed the modified apk to data/app. The app worked perfect then with the modified .9.pngs, and I signed it afterwards with Android Signer from PPCGeeks (http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/android-development/126517-pc-ppcgeeks-android-apk-zip-signer.html). The program said it had signed the apk so I'm not sure if I skipped a step or did something wrong.
Sounds like you did everything right. Definitely run it past Dreamsforgotten in Themes. He is great at this stuff.

You have to sign it... only apps signed can be installed.

Would it be possible for anyone to take the theme from BakedSnack and make it available to all ROMs? I really love Hero's theming and his ROM is great too, but I'm constantly changing things based off what I need and I really want to keep that theme.
Can anyone help me? I found a script that will change it over if I put the app and framework files but when irun the script I can't place the files back into the system folder. It says the compressed files are invalid

Could you take the Baked theme Twiz and make it customizable like the one from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793210 so that we can pick and choose which app/icons we want in the dock, And make an .apk so it could be installed and not flashed, please?
Tw3.0 is an app. Your gonna have to follow that thread to get it working or download the epic experince rom that had a fully functional tw3.0.
A theme has to be flashed via clockwork as it replaces certain system files

What I mean is Baked has a custom twiz but it is not customizable like that one from the link, so is there a way to make the custom twiz from Baked to have the same customizable options as that from the link?

Baked snack is running tw2.5. I'm sure his theme can be ported over to 3.0. But that would be more work then pulling the themed files off of his rom. I can look into it when I have time but I'm in the process of cooking a rom and a theme. I'm using three baked snack as a starting point and I already got the files pulled. I just need to create a zip for clockmod

Sick, keep us updated!
Ill make a zip of the backed snack theme tonight. I got a couple more bugs to work out on the theme I'm working on. The rom I'm working on should be out shortly after I release the modified theme

Eagerly awaiting this.
I'll try to have it out tonight. I work a full time job and have four kids. This is not my top priority. I haven't even had time to work on my own projects

I see all these different Rosie set ups and I am confused as to if they are all interchangeable or not. I am currently on Koni's S3 but I do not see much on different Rosies, most post are for Myns or Miks.
Thank you
I asked TommyTomatoe about this recently. He said all of the should world (not the z based roms rosies). I haven't tested them out yet though. He said that the ones for Kings rom will definitely work

Keep in mind that those mods are specific to the rom they were made for. Still, you can use them however, because the framework is involved, you may end up changing more than just the rosie. For example, I flashed a gingerbread rosie made for Myn's RLS5 while I was using a rooted deodexed stock rom and although I did get the gingerbread rosie, my theme had changed among other things to that of RLS5.

S3 is a pretty solid rom, im really surprised there isn't much theme support for it.
Well, I guess my next question is; where do I find the bar to do it myself?

Download the theme or ROM that has the bar that you like. You will find it in system/framework/com.htc.resources.apk/res/drawable-port-hdpi. good luck and may the force be with you.
BTW if your ROM has landscape you will need /drawable-land-hdpi as well.

Hi I'm a old epic fan that went to the dark world of MoPho but I'm back now...I found a theme on the MoPho and loved the Smileys from the theme and wanting to add them to the blue cm9 theme I'm running on the epic...so my question is how should I go about finding them and making a cmw flashable zip or just add them to the epic from the other theme?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Not really advisable
With the CM9 beta out, unless the theme is approved or proven to work on SGS2, custom themes can kill the rom and making it a pain in the rear to fix. just an FYI :/
Usually they are in the framework-res.apk the drawable-hdpi folder or which ever dpi the phone was... depending on what application you want the smilies in is were you need to paste them... for example you want your sms app to have the smilies then you would unzip the apk and find the drawble-hdpi folder and place them there... android emoticon names are usually similar so no renaming should need to happen they should be something like emo_happy or emo_sad. =]

Yeah I didn't go into all that only because he wants to put CM9 4.0.3 on there and those types of framework adjustments can cause some issues w/ the rom.

Nah...you can swap pngs all day long. The only issue I found in themeing CM9 is it does not like to have systemui recompiled with too much compression. But everything else is not a problem.

I would LOVE to be able to install the stock ICS email app on my GSII running ICS. I've used it on my Motorola Xoom, which runs essentially unaltered ICS. Is there any way to do this that does NOT require rooting and/or removing the Samsung app? I've already had one bad experience going down that road, unfortunately :-(
Thanks in advance, and apologies if this is a repeat.
this will help just a little...
i used an apk from either an amaze rom or one of the cm9 roms from sgs2 tmo.
cant remember,but one did work.
i do have an apk of the stock aosp mms that works (thinking i pulled it off the same rom it is dark themed).
if you find it let me know.
the one that worked installs without pushing into sys/apps,or overwriting tw stock email.
side note...
apollo player works (very cool)
desk clock works
video editor
torch
gallery 2
all work on unrooted.

Cool - I'll check it out! What tool can I use to separate APKs from ROMs?
root explorer.just extract all,go to extracted
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Looks like Root Explorer works when you've flashed your phone, which is what I'd like to avoid - is there a tool that lets you browse/extract the ROM on your desktop?
you can extract it without root.here ill post the apks i pulled.give me little while.

Thanks much!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been looking around for this and have found places that have the pretty much every other AOSP app up for download except this one. I am using a Stock based rom and I want to use the AOSP People app because it's a billion times better than the TW Contacts app.
Might anyone know where I can get this?
Rob
You haven't seen it because it won't work. Framework differences. If you don't believe Mr and want to try I will upload one for you and you can try

Thanks. I thought maybe since a lot of the other AOSP apps were ported over that this one would be too. Damn, i love the People contacts app. You don't have to post the app unless you think someone else can use it
Yeah only I don't know the word for it but maybe "material "apps like the camera and clock that arent actually necessary and it won't work because Samsung has for proprietary framework thanks reason we can't you Samsung camera on aosp ROMs sorry about that man but for future reference you can extract any of the APKs you want right out of any aosp ROM using root or solid explorer
Oh yeah must of the time there are libs to go with those FYI in case you go experimenting
