Hello everyone I bought galaxy nexus week ago really loving the phone but when im on 3g when downloading app from market gives me error 403? What Is that mean? And I can download with wifi but not 3g. Any solutions?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
might be network issue or even block. or try clearing market cache. or possibly just waiting it out if it's network issue.
The phone is with bell but I'm using it with mobilicity make any difference?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
i doubt that would make the difference. the network issues i meant were congestion, mobilicity blocking the download through their network or possibly google server congestion. i say just clear your cache, try again and if no worky, try later. if it still doesn't work ask again.

I'm also on mobilicity here in toronto with a gn.
Just go to settings - more - mobile networks - apn
Then delete the proxy in mowap and reboot.

I just got an unlocked galaxy nexus and I'm running it on Straight Talk . Everything works great except when I try to test my speed on the speed test app. It just says network error. I have data connection but it just won't work. Any ideas?

Try removing the "proxy" field from the APN settings. Lots of people have issues.
You could also just try a speedtest in a browser.

Yesterday i recieved the notification that 4.1.2 was ready for install on my stock yakju galaxy nexus. After the install i noticed i could no longer tether (that same day i had tethered my xoom over wifi pre update). Today i tried to tether with wifi, usb, and bluetooth and not one of them will work. I've reset the computers/tablets, i've reset the phone, and i'm 100% stock with no root.
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue? my googling has turned up with nil.
I'm debating doing a factory reset, but would prefer not to if anyone has some suggestions i can try. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I had the same problem. However, FoxFi just updated their app to work with 4.1.2. I also got the FoxFi addon. Not sure if the add makes the difference or not.

hSo it's not working with stock but it works with foxfi?
edit: Strike that, just tried foxfi, no dice. I also tried a factory reset... no dice. i'm going to try a full flash of takju.
edit2: double strike that, just tried the full flash and nothing
Tethering works fine for me on 4.1.2, i just used it and it was as good as always

I have the same problem. After 4.1.2 update my wifi tethering stopped working. I have still no idea and I'm looking around. Keep the thread updated if you find a solution!

i'm curious, what frequencies does your provider use? mine is 850/1900 HSPA. i think. My theory is that it's only broken for some frequencies, which could be valueable debug info for the google people
My carrier uses 850/1900 3G bands. My issue is my tablet sees the connection and connects but the wifi icon never goes blue so it never gets internet.

Problem solved
I have solved the problem using "ISWAT tether unlocker" on google play
Open the app, click on the button "Unlock tethering", wait for the video completion, ad the tethering magically works, try it and let me know
So I am using Straight Talk ATT... and I realize its against all terms of service and so on...
But it still should work. so far I cant get the APP wifi tether to work or FoxFi says its not available for ATT Nexus 4.
What are you guys using? on any carrier
Use the one built into android...
settings > (under wireless & networks category) more > Tethering and Mobile Hotspot
There are also plenty of widgets in the market that will allow you to use a quick toggle.
Using the setting directly through android doesn't work for some reason for me... My computer never seems to connect

Probably drivers if you're using USB tether. Try Wi-Fi.

That is WiFi... Also tried USB... It connects and gets an IP but no data is transfered. Its sending and receiving but not actual data is working

Try doing it with Open security, change the SSID and if you are using Win 7 make sure you select a profile (home, work, public) it will take a few seconds before it will work even though it is connected and assigned an IP. Also try it on something else, it make be your computer and not the phone.
Also, I find it odd that it only shows up as an Ad-Hoc Network? not an actual AP like normal
Hmm, I'm have the same problem with my Nexus 4. I'm with rogers and I used the sim from my Galaxy Nexus in my Nexus 4. Using the built in tethering Wifi and USB works on my Galaxy Nexus, but the on the Nexus 4, devices can connect but no data is transferred even though data is working.
The only thing I can think of is because I'm using the rogers LTE APN on the N4 but the normal APN on the GN.
Could this be caused by the straight talk APN that I am using? I am having he same type of situation. It connects but no data is transferred.

Time to change your user agent on your browser or set up network data encryption on your computer
On the OP's Topic, I also have the issue where I can connect but no data is transferred. Still trying to figure this out, this is the first phone where it has not worked for me.

I found it where if you connect and reconnect, it'll eventually work.
It is a bit buggy how it works but it does work somehow. Just keep trying!

Add "dun" to your APN type.
Tried adding dun and still not working. Any other ideas?

if you tether LTE plan, will you get LTE speeds on the other connecting phones? or just the original host LTE phone
so anyone else have Straight talk and get this to work?
I had the same problem (with T-Mobile), adding "dun" as mayastig suggested did the trick.
Specifically, the APN type for epc.tmobile.com now reads "default, supl, mss, dun".
Sorry to be off the straight talk topic.. don't know about that but I am on the $30 tmob plan.
I just really need to tether maybe twice a month and I can't see spending $15 on that. My question is, of I do it using fox will tmob find out and ban me or something?

So you did this on a T-Mobile prepaid plan and you were able to achieve tethering without T-Mobile cutting you off?

I got a nexus from ebay the seller was from HK, i recieved the phone and everything works except for calls/texts. The phone just doesnt get the signal on the notification bar it always has a small x showing no service. Few strange things happened when i tried experimenting. I checked out all the forums and all possible solutions with no help.
When i insert a sim card and enter a APN there is still no network but i get internet from the sim card( i am sure im not connected to wifi). I get my whatsapp msgs but as i get my msgs the signal bar still shows there is no coverage.
Also when i put phone on airplane mode, in the lockscreen it says my networks name(airtel) and when i check my status it shows that there is some signal strength but im unable to make calls or texts or use stable internet.
I tried changing the baseband, tried all the global basebands with no luck.i flashed to 4.0.4 from googles official site too.
When i search for networks manually it shows my network along with a bunch of others but when i try connecting it fails.
Im attaching few screenshots of what i explained above, please help me out.
Thanks you.

I am also having the same issue all of a sudden. For me only Vodafone sim is not working here in mumbai. Airtel is working in my gnex. So the only option for me is to port my number to airtel. You can also try using sim cards of different network provider. Also try to use cwm recovery 6.0.3.5. Because the latest cwm recovery also causes some problem with the network( thats what i read in some forum).
If you get any solution kindly share with us.

Try other sim cards of different network providers and check which one works for you. If you find a working one the only option you will have will be to port your number to that provider or buy a new Sim. I am also planning to do the same

LS,
Last week I had a Samsung Expert @ Best Buy to upgrade my I-747 to Android 4.3. The phone is working perfect since then, even the battery drain is NOT an issue, in fact I noticed that battery last longer now. Even the good performance so far, I have 2 issues:
Each time my S3 connects to wifi, I get a notification of 2 particular files DOWNLOAD COMPLETE however these PDF files were donwloaded months ago. I clear the notification area, but when I switch from 4G to wifi or visa versa, I get the notifications back.
I'm unable to activate hotspot
Any ideas how to solve this...?
Try clearing the cache of download manager.....that usually fixes those problems.....as for the WiFi thing you may need to be rooted and use a third party hotspot app
Sent from my ATT Samsung Galaxy SIII using TapaTalk
@CrazyMonkey: Clearing the Download Manager helped solve the issue; I didn't think about that :cyclops: :good:
As for the hotspot, the stock "Tethering and portable hotspot" never worked, so I downloaded a widget from Sharp Communications (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sharp_eu.ste.wifihotspot) and hotspot worked with no problem.
Since the upgrade to 4.3, when I turn on the widget, I get the same error as the stock is giving me "Mobile data is not available or invalid SIM".
