What do you mean by unlock? the phone came unlocked?
E.G. when you turn on the device, where it says "Google" is there a unlocked lock present? if there is... then no, you need to flash Clockwork Recovery (ROM manager via market or download img and fastboot flash it)

If it was already unlocked then you wouldn't have too but your going to be in ADB anyways mine as well run the unlock command to make sure. If you need any help please ask

Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes when power on . The google logo is on the screen. ( beside the sales ref told this phone was unlocked )

The Google logo is always there. What you're looking for is a lock icon near the bottom on the Google screen. If you're bootloader is locked the lock icon will not be present

The op probably mistakenly thought unlocked phone via network. I would just day goto the stickied post and do all of the steps as I have no idea why someone would be selling a phone that came used and void the warranty without a customers content.

[Q] How to fastboot Xperia Play

Nothing
phone just goes to charge mode
any ideas ?
if you need only root don't worry about Fastboot, just do as mentioned in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045266
you will have your play rooted

as the guy above states, if all it is you are looking for is root access, then just root your phone, but if you actually want to unlock your bootloader to make modifications that require a modified bootloader (there's none so far, but will need if you want to run a alternative kernels etc) you will not be able to do it on a *some* branded devices. It doesn't mean you won't be able to do that stuff in the future, but you should only unlock your bootloader if you really need/want to. It does void your warranty and make it pretty difficult to update/recover currently.

So you just went to At&t and they unlocked it for you?
Have to pay to get it unlocked. Search the forums about unlocking the bootloader to find the guys on here that do it.

Help is needed urgently :(

There is a buyer for my Samsung Galaxy Nexus and he wants it asap, unlucky me i have the lock symbol on the display ( after unlocking bootloader and rooting ) can any one please help me in a way i can get rid of the lock symbol ??? and does the mobile remain rooted or root will be lost ??
I don't really see what you're asking... so are you referring to the the lock symbol on boot "open" or "closed"? Or a homescreen lockscreen?
And what do you want it to be? What do you want to do? Are you trying to restore to stock? You're not telling us.

That just means the bootloader is unlocked. Why do you want it locked again? It makes no difference to the experience. It just allows you to flash things via fastboot and/or hack the phone. Relocking the bootloader is a bad idea if you intend to ever unlock it again, because that completely wipes the device.
If the person you're selling it to wants the phone back to stock, just locking the bootloader DOES NOT DO THAT. You need to flash the Google Images and then relock the bootloader.

But if its rooted then just relocking the bootloader isn't going to help him get a warranty. Turning the phone in rooted is just as bad.
Restore it to stock then relock the bootloader. That's the only way he'll have his warranty.
Just flash the stock images and then the command "fastboot oem lock"
Warranty Accepted!
Changing ownership of the device voids the warranty with most carriers. (At least in the US). Do some research before you spin your wheels.

Lock on phone bootup

Hi all,
My brother and I recently purchased two Galaxy Nexus for ourselves.(phone not officially launched in India, where I live). We both have the yakuxw and are awaiting the 4.2 update.
As Samsung is taking forever to push it, we are contemplating flashing to a Takju. One strange thing ive noticed is that when my phone boots when the Google logo displays I see a lock at the bottom, but my brother doesnt.
Could some 1 tell me what does that mean ? is it the bootloader lock ?
Thanks in advance
The icon must look like an unlocked lock, which means the bootloader is unlocked. If your brother's phone doesn't show any icon at all, that means that his bootloader is locked. If you're planning on flashing takju on both phones, you must unlock their bootloaders and root them. It's best to use the GNex Toolkit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310
Note that when I tried downloading Google stock images through the toolkit, it didn't work. I had to download them manually from here:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#takju
And place the file in the folder called "put_google_factory_image_here" within the GNex Toolkit folder.

But I need to know for sure what this means.
This is what it looks like.

It means the bootloader is unlocked, as said already...boot your phone into the bootloader and you'll see yours says unlocked whereas the other will say locked

Thanks , I booted to the bootloader and saw the words "unlocked"
So, when I use any toolkit I can skip the Unlocking of the bootloader step right ? Sorry to sound like a noob.

[Q] Bootloader status

Hey guys,
I have tried to search for this but I couldn't find it anywhere. Can anyone tell me if this means my bootloader is locked or unlocked?
I want it to be locked because I need to send it back to LG for some touchscreen defects, and yes I didn't even take a look of the locked bootloader before unlocking it.
Thanks for helping!

Best way to be sure you removed any trace of unauthorized modification is tu use kdz updater and a sdcard wipe, after you backed up all your stuff.

I've attached a picture. I also took a video of the process which leads up to the picture, however the video is quite large . If you need to see it I can share it through some other mean. If youd like more info, I can post that too.
Thanks for your help.

I used the app from asus did you scroll down and tick boxes ?
0094 0173 is unlocked bootloader in 5 LP
http://www.asus.com/zentalk/thread-59699-1-1.html this one here
This one same as yours ?
Hi, yes I ticked the boxes, both of them. I've attached a s screenshot of my software.
Is it possible the boot loader is already unlocked? I bought this phone used. I know that when you unlock boot loader the intro screen is white, but that could easily be flashed back to black. So is there a way to check? I doubt it but you never know.

Hey , just noticed your serial number being 0 to F , maybe related ...it looks like it's been flashed but incorrectly. Can you boot to boot loader again , whilst connected to PC.
count to 10 , press vol + once , is your serial the same ?
If the same ,it will have to be flashed correctly.
I'm ready to go sleep now ...we sort this again
Ps, forget that all above if that was a shot attempting to unlock in boot loader which is normal to have 0 to F , but if its like that 0 to F when booting into boot loader normally , then it needs flashing , confusing I know ... I need sleep lol
Figured it out.... all because of this guy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=67513433&postcount=47
Turns out it was the stupid lockscreen that prevented it. I turned it off and just like not, did the exact same thing and unlocked.

I was having a hard time trying to unlock mine...
(used official APK from ASUS = https://www.asus.com/us/Phone/ZenFone_2_ZE551ML/HelpDesk_Download/ )
I have discovered that if you use the command 'adb reboot bootloader'
the phone boot with that info below:
Code:
SERIAL NUMBER - 0123456789ABCDEF
SIGNING - ?
SECURE_BOOT - ?
If you boot holding the volume up when the first vibration occurs, then it will show the true serial number
but I have rooted and freezed many system apps, and I was having errors for unlocking the bootloader. Then I finally did it by simply making a backup, going to recovery, and clearing the data. After the phone booted, I downloaded the official app again, and then voila.
Just sharing my experience
Thank you
