Anyone try the Juiced Systems 4in1 Host/SDcard adapter? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

This is what I'm referring to - http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Multi-functional-Connection-Kit-Compatible/dp/B006MJZOMW
Only curious as I was originally looking for just an OTG/host cable, but having the other ports doesn't seem like it'd hurt. Any thoughts or experiences?

Haven't ordered yet as I was curious what other owners thought of it; but the more I think about it, it can't be anything more complex than a glorified host adapter. It's only $20... I might just order it when I get home from work.

Well as I said, I ordered it and got 3day shipping so I will get it by weeks end.
It probably will be a glorified host adapter but I'll just use it with a 32gb micro sd and 32gb sd. Maybe use both at once?
I wish.

You can use them all as host but only one at a time. I purchased it in thinking of using my SD, and micro sd at the same time. I don't know if its a limitation of the device or stick mount app.
I also tried charging through the micro SD and its a no go. Dang... it would be nice to be able to charge and host at same time.
Pics still coming soon. If there are any other questions, keep them coming.

Try mounting them manually using the command mount. Create a folder on the sdcard for each memory card, something like /sdcard/usb/1 etc. Depending on the filesystem on them it should be something like 'mount /dev/block/sda1 /sdcard/usb/1 -t ntfs -o umask=0222' (for NTFS if your kernel supports it, umask needs to be specified for NTFS like that to allow other than root to read the contents). FAT32 should be 'mount /dev/block/sda1 /sdcard/usb/1 -t vfat'. The part in bold above needs to be changed to match the actual card.
You then unmount them with 'umount /sdcard/usb/1' where you change the path to the one you actually want to unmount.

OK, after 1.5 hours of getting more than one at a time to mount I'm getting ready to give up. Just is a little outside my field of expertise. I will try again tomorrow.
Also, my interest in this was mainly to charge while using host mode.

juiced systems adapter
So I had called juiced systems to ask them if this adapter would allow me to use my otg host cable and the mhl adapter simultaneously for hooking my HD TV and USB mouse, and he said it wouldn't support mhl. He did, however say they are developing another adapter that is 5 in 1 that will support both at the same time, and should be available within a couple weeks. I don't se any reason why it couldn't then support more devices thru host. I belive then it would only be a limitation of software. Is there any reason why stick mount app couldn't support multiple devices?

Just bought one, one of the guys in the reviews for it said that he bought it for the Galaxy Nexus and it works, but you need to have a 3rd-party app installed, which someone here at XDA already made last week and put it into the market. I should have it sometime next week.

It's not damaged at all. The weird thing my observations are that there is not enought power getting to the adaptor. When I plug the adaptor in my friends Galaxy nexus running on stock rom the light on the adaptor lights up just fine, but mine just blinks for like a fraction of a second and doesn't connect. I'm also thinking it's the rom or it needs a new kernal ???
You need to check whether the kernel you're on supports otg.

Weird.. I've only seen power with hard drives that use the USB power. Can you post the exact make model of the adapter? Also, do you have a powered USB hub you could try? As in connect hub to phone, plug adapter into hub. That way the adapter most certainly is getting the power needed.
It also might be ROM kernel related.

While I haven't encountered any issues with sd adapters on the t989, it sounds like you're having either a power problem or that particular adapter isn't playing nice with your kit. You can rule out power by plugging you usb otg to a powered hub and testing with a high powered device (usb drive for example) and should that work, then trying the adapter. If the adapter works off the hub, it's likely a power problem. If not, the adapter hates you and loathes samsung, and wants you to by a nexus.
While not common, the adapter could be asking for a full 500ma even though it doesn't require it or is having some other isb negotiations headbutt with your gs2.
you can also try popping open a console terminal and checking what's happening under the hood. you should be able to see in the output of dmesg when you connect the adapter and what the kernel is saying about it, which will help point you in the right direction.

Meenova SD Card Reader Compatibility

Just ordered the Meenova for the N5, but will use on an N7 2013 as well. I want to put movies on there for travel, so I want 64GB, and it looks like SDXC is the only option (which I guess is exFAT). Will this work on either/both devices? Rooted with Stick Mount. Can't figure out what card to get.
Thanks
Edit - Title changed. Thx!
I am happy to report that my meenova works with the Nexus 5 using a SanDisk sdxc 64gb card. Rooted with stick mount from chainfire.
I forgot if I used exfat of ntfs
Do I have to root? I plan on ordering my N5 next week with some accessories (hopefully a meevo), I'm not sure if I will root right away.

OP should probably add 'MicroSD Card Reader' or something similar to the title - would be helpful for those who don't know.
and yes, you need root in order for this to work on the Nex 5/4/7/10. you also need this app to mount the sdcard:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.stickmount&hl=en
I have a knockoff meenova, it's one of the most convenient accessories ever. Works beautifully with stickmount. Its just a shame you need to use stickmount, it works on my Moto X as is.

At the time the Meenovas were shipping from China and I didn't want to wait. The one I got is decent enough, and works without issue so I'm happy. I'll probably still order the Meenova anyway, just to have. The two look identical but you can tell from pictures the Meenova is built a little nicer.

You don't need root for this to work. I am not rooted and my meenova works perfectly.

Any ideas on why this is happening? I have used the default format on card and then formatted NTFS and it happened both times.

I believe it should work fine and the reason they rated at 64gb because at the time there's no 128gb yet. I knew some one who used a regular sdcard to micro sdcard adaptor for 128gb on the Note and it worked!

Aside from putting in an adaptor, do you have to do install some apps or some software tweaking to recognize the card? Or is it just plug and play like any other cards.

Just plug and play. But the adapters are a little delicate, I wouldn't suggest having it loose and flapping around. If you have a case, you can just tuck it in and it should be fine, otherwise I'd suggest taping it down to the tablet. That's how I did it on my Xoom.

And if you dont mind companies like dropbox handing your private data over to the feds. I would set up my own cloud server at home that I could access remotely if I trusted the security. Usb otg 1tb hard drive ftw!!!

Keep us informed about how long it takes to get or shipped A's how slim it works with our note.
as a side note what programs do you guys use to format your sd cards to fat32? The 64 from my note 2 doesn't like the note pro. IT detects it but wont read the files. Shows the used space but can't see anything on it.Very peculiar

I don't format FAT32... Ihave an sd to micro sd cad adaptor with a 128gb sd card installed formatted exFAT... No problems with accessing it.
My note is rooted though...

Mine as well....my note 2 accepts the sd card in exfat. But nithing else will accept it. I even wiped it once but nothing else will read that sd card anymore. Other android device wont even fornat over it. Its very strange. It works perfectly In my phone (and in my replacement note 2 after getting mine replaced)
