[Q] Can I unlock my Desire before I use the official update?

I was wondering if I use the Unlock Utility found here will it mean I can't use the official GB update?
not too sure but beware if you update it to the official 2.3 you will not be able to root or S-OFF it due to the updated Hboot!
I don't want to root just in case it bricks the phone so I thought this will be a good alternative.
You can use Sim Unlock no matter what you will do in the future.
In a previous thread someone mentions that you can't use the sim unlock after you update. I was wondering if I use the sim unlock before I update will the unlock still be there or will it get rid of it?
Also I heard you can't update a rooted phone, does this unlock require root? OK This doesn't require root.
No, when you update, you must run sim unlock utility again, what you cannot do when running the official gingerbread.
You can run the update on a rooted phone. But after the update you will loose root access.
Swyped from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
Yeah I did it anyway it didn't work.

Must Root before Unlock?

Hi
Can anyone tell me basic about root and unlocking LG Optimus G E973?
How to unlock without unlocked code?
Is the word "unlock" and "unlock bootloader" the same?
In order to unlock the phone for free, do we have to root the phone?

If Bootloader is unlocked, Network is unlocked too?

Nope, network unlock can only be achieved by unlock code for this device, and that is completely different from bootloader unlock.
-Root grants you permission control over root directory and allow for apps to have deeper integration with the android system for tweaks and such. Although this may pose a security threat for your device.
-bootloader unlock allows you to flash unsigned ROMs and kernels to your device and also poses a security threat to your device.
-network unlock allows you to use the GSM and/or CDMA network of your device with another carrier different from its original carrier unless your device is factory unlocked.
If all you want is to use your phone with another provider I suggest you stop looking for ways to unlock without code because its not possible and search for a trusted code unlocking service.

Sony Xperia M 4.3 Locked Bootloader CynogenMod

Device: Sony Xperia M C1905
Software: 4.3
Bootloader: Locked
Basically, every single method I have tried to root this phone has failed. All I want to do is have root access to my phone, I want to be able to:
Use CynogenMod (FOR CLASH OF CLANS)
take my apps2SD
Delete any crap from my phone
Full Customization abilities
All this can be achieve by rooting but MY BOOTLOADER IS LOCKED.
There are numerous ways out there that just don't work.
Does anybody know how to first root my phone, and then to have access to a mod?
I want the mod to be able to do all the things I listed previously.
I know this is possible with CynogenMod on other phones, but my bootloader is locked, and I just don't know what to do. Done numerous tutorials, none seem to be working or some don't even have any download links.
If someone could give me a step by step guide on how to mod and root my phone that would be perfect.
I will respond very quick, and will ask you questions if I need help.
I will listen and try to follow your steps, but please give me specific details, I'm not a pro modder.
Simply use towel root and get full root access
Just search in threads, how it works

I have tried that. I followed each step with the towel root hack.
Basically, after I've done it I go on Root Checker and no the root is not successful.
And with towel root you can't use Cyanogenmod.
You can't use Cyanogenmod if your bootloader is LOCKED, I have the same problem, my bootloader is on "Bootloader unlock allowed: NO" status, you can't because Cyanogenmod uses a custom KERNEL, which is impossible to do if your bootloader is locked. All we have to do is to wait for somebody to make a LB (locked bootloader) version of Cyanogenmod.

I see, I'll just get a new phone, 2gb of storage sucks and my camera has stopped working...

How can I root 3113 with locked bootloader

As the title suggests I want to be able to root my phone but my bootloader says that I cannot unlock it when using service menu to check, my model is the H3113 Pioneer from Vodafone. I have tried looking through threads but can not find anything, when trying to get twrp to do a temp boot it comes up saying that the command is not allowed. I have all the necessary drivers and tools and I am familiar with rooting devices as I have done several in the past.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Change unlock bootloader allowed from NO to YES with root?

Hello,
I've recently obtained 2 new old stock Xperia Z1 Compact phones.
Both have their bootloader unlock allowed set to NO.
However, both are also running KitKat 4.2 with a really old kernel and the Easy Root Tool exploit should work to obtain root.
My question is whether the unlock allowed can then be forced to YES with the obtained root permissions and how?
I would like to flash LOS on both
Thanks,
Bobby
Not possible. There should be a HW way using testpoint
I am also trying to find a solution for this has anyone had any luck doing this with the S1 Tool and the bootloader unlock option using test point if yes please share here thanks.
I did find this https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ed-no-to-yes-is-now-finally-possible.4044091/
