I got the same problem, I guess I don't really care too much. I originally changed my evo4g to google voice for voicemail. Now that I got the epic4gtouch it's still going to google voice because I don't get any messages on my phone. I suppose I could install google voice.
I ended up doing that

I have been using Google voice for awhile now on cm6 and çm7 nightlies. I just recently flashed myns rls5 but my sprint voicemail doesn't wanna work. Everytime I get a voicemail I get an email for Google voice. How can I get this too work again? Is their a reset function or something? I don't want to use Google voice anymore.

I believe it's either *73 or *730 to disable forwarding to Google Voice.
Had the same problem. I called sprint and they fixed it on their end.
One major problem I'm having on all ICS builds is the voicemail issue.. Visual voicemail always crashes and i have to dial out to retrieve my voicemails. Ive tried the clear data and force stop method but once you receive a new v mail the problem repeats itself. Has anyone found a solution? I refuse to use google voice..

Sprint VVM is borked in the ICS builds. I believe its a bug with the notifications. Uninstall it and use Youmail until its fixed. Youmail is a nice standalone alternative and easy to activate and deactivate.

Why all the hate with Google Voice? Im just curious. Its come in handy a few times.
Ok thanks Ill give youmail a try.. And i google voice is just to much for me.. It records your text messages and everything uploads all your info online.. It comes in handy but that's too much control. I don't need google knowing everything about me lol.

Can you use Youmail as a replacement for regular sprint voice mail?
I have elderly parents that if they can't reach me on my cell will leave me a vm instead of texting.
On CM9, if you push visual voicemail to system>app and set permissions, it'll stop it from crashing. The new problem is that it keeps retrying to "get your information" every time you open the app then.

Why do you refuse to use Google voice? I set it up without integrating it with my sprint number and telling it not to be used for any calls. Then, I see it as the ultimate vvm because I can get messages on my tablet, desktop chrome browser, etc. If you don't let it have the additional functionality, it behaves pretty much the same as the stock vvm... Unless I'm way off base?

I hate the old voicemail system found in Nexus. Any way to install sprint's voicemail system where I can download the voice mails and delete them from my touch screen?
Switch to Google Voice, or wait for Sprint to get their VVM updated.
Thanks! I guess there is no apk taht we can use that is compatible with nexus atm huh? that stinks.
Use Google Voice. It doesn't stink. In fact, carrier VM apps positively reek compared to GV.
i think you guys misunderstood me. I wasn't saying that voice stinks but the fact that nexus doesn't have vvm stinks lol.
But thanks will look into the voice.

Since you're with Sprint, it's easy to integrate your Sprint phone number into your google voice number. It's great because you can then text from voice.google.com on a PC and they show up as your cell number. It also lists all of your texts, which are searchable and always 'backed' up. The google voice app is just like a visual voicemail app. You can see a list of voice mails and delete/archive/listen to whatever you want. It's the one thing I miss since switching to Verizon.

You can still use Google Voice with Verizon. Basically, you configure your Verizon voicemail to forward to your Google Voice number, and then you configure Google Voice to send calls from your Verizon number straight to voicemail.
It's a more complicated set up process than you'd go through with Sprint, but its not bad. The only thing you lose with Verizon compared to Sprint is the ability to send texts the the GV website and have it look like they come from your phone. Instead, they'll use your GV number.

I fully understood what you were saying, and then indicating it was irrelavent. You don't use carrier VM with an Android device. You can get a superior GV experience. Hell, I switched from T-Mo to Verizon without having to re-setup my voicemail. All my old messages are still on file. That's convenience.
If u foward ur voiceail to google does sprint charge still for fowards and im on zero premium plan

I am new to Verizon, I just switched from Sprint aft 12 years with them(was tired of waiting for 4G). On my previous Sprint phone I had Google Voice installed, and I could send and receive SMS messages through GV. Now on my Galaxy Nexus, I will receive them fine, but when I try to reply to a message, it takes me to the native Messaging app. And now there is no option to create a message on the main screen.
What I have tried so far:
Selected "Via Google Voice app" under the GV "Receive Text Messages" option- several times
Uninstall and re-install GV- 2 times
Deactivate and reactivate the phone on the GV website- 2 times
And even onetime of uninstall, deactivate, reactivate, and reinstall
Anyone have anything else I should try?
I have the same problem

google voice with sprint had native support.
The problem I have with Google voice on Verizon is when I send a text from gv to another number its fine. When somebody texts my gv number it shows a completely random number as the sender. Really weird. I haven't called Verizon yet to see if they know anything. I think its something to do with what version does with the text once its received from gv before passing it along to me.

One of the three things I am going to miss with Verizon. others are unlimited data and cheaper bill.
I do not use my Google Voice number, I just got Google Voice for the integrated voice mail that I had with Sprint.

This should only happen if you're having SMS forwarded to your Messaging app. If you receive them only via the GV app, you won't get the weird numbers.
I've used Google Voice on Sprint for ages, and loved the texting it offered. However, when I switched to the Galaxy Nexus (Sprint) it broke, and hasn't been fixed. Google knows of these problems, but they haven't fixed them, and they basically have the worst customer support ever.
I wanted to know if there was a way to change the default speed dial number on the epic touch? I have google voicemail on my sprint phone but I want to put that on the #1 instead of the default sprint voicemail thats on there right now.
All my voice mails are going to GV with no problem but I hate having the stock sprint voice mail still available.
Is that possible?

Open dialer and check in settings. Can't think of anything else. Never changed that.

I previously had a workaround by creating a contact for my voicemail and putting a shortcut to it on my dock. Now that I've integrated my Sprint with GV, it's not necessary.
its called a voicemail hotkey.. there should be a way to program it.. i know at my work (uscc) i can check tomorrow.. our sgs2's are almost identical
