I'm a field tech and I constantly use the E-mail app for work with my Exchange account. However, the whites are just killing my battery life with screen power consumption. I basically need a black version of the stock E-mail in 4.0.2. Anyone know where I can find it?

I would very much prefer to use the stock E-mail app if possible. I like to keep it simple.
Enhanced email is based on the stock email client, but not the ics one unfortunately. I think its your only option at this point though.

For what it's worth, K9 Mail (which is not stock, but which I prefer to stock) has a very attractive dark theme. Just throwing that out there

You could apply this Dark theme, which includes a blackened stock email app.

That doesn't include the stock email app, only the Gmail app.... I just downloaded it
The developer stated that 2.1 would include a blackend stock email as well. Which version did you download? I haven't gotten around to installing it yet, because it is not yet available for my ROM. Ping him in that thread about this, he is very responsive

It shouldn't be difficult to theme a blacked out standard Email.apk. Just go into the AndroidManifest and request for a dark theme to be applied rather than a light theme. Changing the font will be a pain...alot of smali code.
Nitroz, does this mean that there is also no black (or transparent) stock email widget included? You mentioned earlier that you have already made one. If not, I might ask evilkal if his offer to make it is still valid

Yeah I know but I just don't feel like it haha =P
And the font changing is rather easy because it's mostly done in the colors.xml so that pretty much hangs it up for good =P

Only the Gmail app/widget is themed so far...and the MMS.apk. I'm working on an inverted Google+ App at the minute. If EvilKal can do it, great. If not, I will.
I'm working on the Email app but it's having some issues with showing up on my Gummy ROM. It may just be the ROM because Nitroz and I had problems with a couple other system apps before on Gummy. I'll see what I can do for now and get back to you fine people tomorrow morning yes?

Will see what I can do. I may just flash AOKP or stock ICS tomorrow and give that a whirl instead of Gummy. This is the 3rd app that has intensely disliked the idea of theming anything in it and they're all AOSP apps so it may be something to do with the ROM because both of us (Nitroz and myself) had no trouble at all theming the Gmail.apk

I change themes quite often, but only one theme that I've come across for the Samsung Epic that uses AOSP messaging as opposed the the default "Samsung messaging" (I guess you could call it), is Engraved Blues. I've used that theme for the longest, mostly because it has AOSP messaging. It comes with WAY more user functionality than the limited "Samsung Messaging." Is there anyone that could put AOSP Messaging into a flashable zip? That way, I can use whatever theme I chose, and still have AOSP Messaging. I would really appreciate it if this could be done!
I'd even be willing to learn how to do it. I usually don't request, and tinker with things on my own, but I'd need some help with this one. If someone wants to walk me through the process, I'd be even more appreciative, because I wouldn't have to ask for these kinds of things!
I don't know what you mean by AOSP messaging but Impaler's transparent MMS are flashable zips. They both look and run very well. Give one of them a try. Just download and flash in CWM.

AOSP messaging is I guess stock Android messaging. At least that's what someone told me a while back. There are noticeable differences. Probably one of the most important is the fact that with default Sammy messaging, when messages come in while I'm roaming, they are 4 hours in advance. For some reason, this isn't the case with AOSP messaging. It's really weird. There are also options for vibration types, and you're also able to change the font size of the messages. None of these options are present in Sammy messaging, AND, there are no chat balloons; just color backgrounds.
The MOST important reason I prefer AOSP is because for whatever reason, I cannot pinpoint, whenever I run a ROM with Samsung's messaging app, the phone tends to randomly restart. Ever since I've been using Engraved Blues with AOSP messaging, the random restarts are nonexistent. No reboots whatsoever! My phone has been super stable with SRF 1.1.1 and Engraved Blues. I don't know why it causes those reboots, and I don't have my messaging set to keep a lot of messages. Maybe 50 at the most.
Impaler's transparent messaging is based off of Samsung's Android messaging app and while it looks awesomely sweet, I've had the same unfortunate reboots as it seems to be based off of Sammy messaging.
EDIT: Ok, just noticed this in his thread.
These apps are the 2.2 MMS app, only about 50 times better than Samsung could have ever made it...

Maybe I should give it a try again? I know when he first started posting the transparent messaging app series, I could've sworn it was simply themed Samsung messaging?

I haven't really had any problems with what you mentioned. I would say give it a try. I think you will be pretty happy. His messaging app is always the first mod I flash after flashing a new ROM or theme. If it doesn't work for you, sorry.
I have that same problem with Swype where when I'm roaming all my messages read 4 hours ahead of time. Gets really bothersome. I can't live without swype anymore though.

Funny thing is that before I installed the Engraved Blues theme, I thought that the Samsung messaging app was standard Android. If I hadn't come across the theme, I wouldn't have known a thing about AOSP messaging. And what's with that roaming problem? Man, that's so annoying! How'd Samsung let that one out of the gate with that glaring problem???

From what I was told/read it is a Sprint problem with how their devices communicate with the towers used for roaming. So blame Sprint for the problem

All you have to do is go into that zip, take out the mms.apk, and push it to system/app using root explorer.. I've got a video showing how to do that

Gonna have this one too for later.....
Good to see your work back Rixsta. I've been giving codeworkx CM9 a try for a couple of days now, I like it apart from a storage issue. Anyway, found this theme and flashed it, like the look and its a good start.
As always I will give some feedback lol. Not keen on the background in contacts and in menus areas, could do with being more subtle to make it easier to view contacts. Finally, maybe remove the cyan. The red is stunning on its own.
Anyway guys, keep up the great work.
PS.. what cm9 you using?

Your pretty smart aint ya!!! I didnt ask for a smartarse answer and especially not from you. Also if you widen your thoughts beyond 'smartarse' thinking then maybe you could see that actually a red theme would work well and maybe the guys would develop that, dependant on feedback and demand, then name it something else. As you know, it couldnt be called Cyanored, that would be pointless. Pretty much like your comment!!

Really nice theme! Thanks!
Nice Theme but think about magenta. ;-)
Do you guys have plans for other themes? Cause I'm searching for some "theme makers", they are able to change the basic color of ICS (light blue) to another basic colour (light green for example). No other changes (original icons, original backgrounds, aso). What do you think? Are you bored enough to do this?

Chill, its all about love on this page, not hate
Some feedback:
Works great on latest build (20120217).
Detailing is really well done - blending of red/blue very nice.
For my personal taste the shade of red is a little too bright.
Battery number in status bar is not readable (maybe i need new glasses).
I couldn't see a way to change the background image for settings etc. I quite like this wall, but i'm sure people are going to want to change it.
Thanks for the good work, guys

Announcement:
I will update the OP with this info shortly.
For the next few weeks my fellow team member Timmetal who is totally awesome by the way. Is going to take over this ROM. I will be in here and the other threads answering questions and helping as I always do but won't be doing any actual work on this.
Pretty much I have four weeks left on unemployment. I don't know if I will get an extension or not so I am redoing resumes and finding at least five good jobs a day to apply for instead of two. Doesn't sound like much but believe me. Between personality test and all the other crap its about 1-2 hours per job app. So it takes up some time. As soon as I get things squared away I plan on resuming this and also starting another project that I have had in mind called Super Clean Touchwiz. Pretty much its a super clean UI with some modifications that make it run and look soon much better. But anyway. Please give the guy the same love you have shown me as I'm sure you will.
I am not responsible for your phone not booting, damage to your device in any shape fashion or form. Follow my outlined directions and you should have no issue whatsoever.
This is my first ROM that I am publicly releasing. I have been making my own personal build for a while but never thought they were worth releasing. I figured I would share this one.
This is a stock, mildly de-bloated stock FF09 ROM that has been themed to include a look of the GS3 and Stock ICS.
There are a lot of people I would like to thank for help I have received but honestly this page would go on forever if I typed them all out. You know who you are. Thanks especially to my testers that help me when I am unable to flash a build. I helps me so much more then you may realize.
This ROM includes Mods from the following locations and Devs. If you have a minute. Please let them know how much we appreciate them by slapping their thanks button
Base ROM is the De-Odexed FF18 Build from Datajosh
Agats FF18 Kernel
Inspired by SALMAN ROM. Seriously awesome work by android_isda_****
Launcher from Galaxy S 3, Mod found here
SVoice Hack found here:
Themed MMS to mimic the SkyRocket MMS
Mildy debloated. Some apks left as not to effect functionality
Icons have been themed with the icons from the Galaxy S3
Used Icons from here
Used some icons from Tiffs ICS theme
SGS 3 Music Player can be found here
Dialer done by Avataroffrost
Note from Agat about his kernel.
Agat has informed me that after several users tested on his kernel. Him and Sfhub believe the EMMC bug MAY have been fixed. They had several testers wipe data and do several operations while on various ROMs and none of them bricked.
What does this mean to you? This means that if you so choose to, you may be able to resume flashing as we used too all that time ago before the EMMC bug was brought to light. Now I can't confirm or dispute this as I do not have a way to get another phone so I cannot chance it. But based on what I have heard so far. Many others are getting the same results.
If you have any further questions about this. Hit Agat up in his thread. It should be linked above somewhere and I am sure he will be able to go into more detail on it. Everyone please be careful.
Huge Thanks to all my Testers that helped me along the way.

Guide:
Download ROM from link below and place on your SD Card.
I personally recommend Odining stock EL29 before flashing.
Flash the EL26 Stock Repack Kernel (Linked Below as well if needed)
Boot to recovery and wipe data, system, and cache or use Calkulin’s Format all script.
Flash ROM, wait forever, reboot and profit.
Note: I did notice this ROM does seem to take a while to flash. So be patient.
I am open to all ideas and suggestions. Keep in mind I am not a Dev by any means. This is a project that I am going to keep working on. I would have done it as a theme only but I plan to make plenty of changes along the way.

Honestly. I didn't even think about that. What I will do. Tonight or tomorrow I will make a full ROM version for those that would like the stock apps. You can always remove the ones you don't want. And also do a stock messaging app with the black background and those bubbles and icons.
Thanks for the feedback.
I think it would be good if you could theme the status bar to look more like ics
Nice work buddy.

Congrats to you first official release.

Added a Stock MMS Mod. This is the stock Mms themed with just the icons and bubbles.
So it has the darker background. I will do a solid black one but this will do for now.
Request. If you notice when you long press on the home screen it gives you some options for
homescreen or lockscreen. When you select those there are a few empty slots. Reason being that
the launcher needs the gallery from the SGSIII. I have a full System/app dump from the SGSIII
but adding in the apk isn't enough. Anyone that may have some insight into this please feel
free to throw out ideas. Once I get that app to work then I can move onto other things from the
SGSIII.
Enjoy and thanks for the nice responses.

Wouldn't let me thank you from the portal. Phone is flashing so I can't thank you from tapatalk. Just wanted to say thanks man. I really appreciate all the compliments. I wanted to do something for this community for a while. Just couldn't find a project that I could really get into. This one has peaked my interest. So there will be plenty to come.
Here is the new Gmail 4.2 with my touch of black and blue! To install simply place the apk on your SD card and install. If it does not overwrite your current Gmail then uninstall Gmail in your system/app and any com.android.Gmail in your data/app then install mine. Once installed go to system/app and ensure the permissions are set the same as all other apps then reboot. If it still does not install then adb push Gmail4.2.apk to system/app. Then once installed rewrite the permissions and reboot. Let me know if you have any problems installing, enjoy!
Credit to Gunthermic for allowing me to use some of his awesome images!

Thanks for the update!
BTW I’ve been using your NuBlue Theme and NuBlue Apps Pack – it’s all great work. A couple of questions about the NuBlue Apps Pack:
1. Are you going to update Google Play and Gmail to the new Google Play 3.9.16 and the new Gmail 4.2 in the apps pack?
2. The People app looks real nice, but in the individual contact landscape view the background changes to white, so it becomes unreadable because of the white text on the white background – is it possible to fix it?
If you’re planning to update Google Play and Gmail in the apps pack, I’ll just wait for that instead of flashing/installing them separately.
Cool and thank you for using my apks package! I will come out with an update here in a day or so!

Great thanks. I look forward to it. I just happened to find the NuBlue Apps Pack in the NuBlue and Simple Green threads here on XDA and on CNA’s thread. Are you going to post the update in one of those threads, or in its own thread? Also would you please put a dated update note with the post?
I just want to have some idea where to look for it. You do great work but it’s kind of spread all over the place. It would be cool if you had your own section on each forum where you could put threads for each of your themes and mods. That may not be possible, but it’d make it easier for fans of your work to centrally find all of it and the updated versions.
I think this should be the case on all of the forums for any themer who creates and updates multiple themes and mods – 4 or more – they should have their own section in which to list them. It would clear up a lot of the clutter of the theme/mod forums and make it easier for all involved.
Looks far easier to read, I'll give it a go!
Well thank you very much! And just for you here is the updated NuBlue apks pack. I will create a new thread in XDA, Rootz, and CNA with all the updates here soon with everything,,,kinda a one stop shop, let me know if you have any problems, enjoy!

Wow, thanks a lot! I was going to try and wait to flash this until after I flash CNA 3.6.7 when it drops, but I decided to flash it now over CNA 3.6.6. Especially since my Market just updated and I lost the theme. I got the updates of Gmail and Market. They look real nice; love the color of blue you’re using!
The horizontal view of individual contacts in People is still white text on white background, which is no sweat for me because I can do without the horizontal view.
Also just a heads-up that settings and search in Google Now force closes, which actually occurred with the first NuBlue Apps Pack but I forgot to mention it before. I had substituted it with travp’s, which I just did again because I need all parts in working order for daily business.
Thanks again for your work.
I should put up a disclaimer with google now. You have to delete the one you currently have and load the zip below,,,,the apk pack didnt have the script to load google now to data/app but the this new one does,,,,so uninstall your current google now completely and install the one below and let me know.

Thanks. I’ll try it out. I may not have time until much later tonight, but I’ll let you know.
I am porting over my themed apps from KK to LP for the M9. Here are just a few to start with. I will be updating as the days go on and LP becomes more stable. Please make a backup prior to flashing just in case. Some of these themed apps you may have to uninstall updates or uninstall any previous version you have then flash mine. If nothing happens then try uninstalling updates for that app in settings and then flash. There are a few themed apps that are signed installs so all you have to do it install as you would any other apk, enjoy!
If you want access to the most up to date themed apks then send me a contacts request through Mega using my email [email protected]!
If I or anyone else has helped you out or, you like what I do, simply hit the thanks button!!!
As usual, I am not responsible for any bone-headedness. Ever in doubt ask first I am always willing to help.

Do we need root in order to use these apps ? Is there a risk in using them ?
Yes you need root in order to flash these as they are all zip files. There should be no risk flashing any of these apps,,,just make a back up prior to flashing.

Can you do inverted Car app?

Fantastic stuff! I'd love an inverted Gmail, but my current version is 5.1.90765967, so I don't wanna rewind. If there's any chance you can invert the latest it'd be much appreciated!

Many have tried, but unfortunately not possible since version 4.5.2.xxxx or 4.7.xxxx ... even RRO/Layers theming is limited for Gmail.
And just a general comment: all you M9 users are very lucky to have the magical @Archangel in your midst. He is one of the best themers, and overall nicest and most helpful people I've encountered on XDA. Treat him well :highfive:
I have already done that app inverted. It is included in my Blue VenoM9 theme in the Themes and Apps section. If you dont want to flash the entire theme then you can download the zip, extract automotive.apk and flash it separately. If you have any problems let me know and I can help you.

Wow, such nice comments, thank you very much! Yeah unfortunately he is right. Gmail would be one of the first apps I do but, we lost that ability about a year or so ago.

thanks again for adding to list to check out your work. I am running NC5 on HD21, not NC2
like I told you in PM. my bad, nothing major, just a minor correction that I wanted to get out there. thanks again for jumping on that dialer so fast, wasn't life or death but cant wait to check it out. remember, anything you want me to install to test out for you just let me know. as long as it wont make my s4 melt or self destruct, I'm your guy.
Don't know why or if anyone else is having this problem but any app that requires WiFi doesn't download. Not even if I'm connected to WiFi it still won't download. It gives me an error at the end. I have the black playstore
Thats a new one to me,,there are a alot of reasons for play store problems. My apps are all working fine. Have you tried to clear cache and reboot?
