You're getting,
- Better Screen (Super AMOLED HD, 720p display, 4.65", contour)
- Continued development support (Nexus device)... Google OTAs + Great Aftermarket ROMs
- Google Flagship Ice Cream Sandwich
- Pentaband phone (HSPA+)
- Unbranded phone, subsidized
... and many many many more.

Oh ok. Alright, well the rest of my points stand. Was just trying to help you save a couple of bucks.

Get the Nexus, believe me.
I have an O2x and it sucks big time.
Edit: You'll want to replace the G2x so badly in a few months you'll make up for any difference in cost IMHO

Does anyone want to hook me up with a GS2

Hey does anyone have an extra galaxy s2 that they got from Tmobile retentions that they want to sell?
Desperately want this phone. It's so sexy! Finally made up my mind on getting the GS2 after debating between the HTC Amaze. Now i can't find one.

would love to, instead i'm stuck in frozen canada. I plan to visit there someday. P.S. visit this restaurant if you ever get the chance. I had the gordon special when i was a university student at queen's. Best wrap ever.

why don't you just get it from Telus on Friday
it's the same phone
and you can unlock it easily on any of those malls phone stands that does unlocking. (expecting darn telus like bell not releasing the unlock code for 3 months)
if you buy it from the US $529.99 + shipping + Canadian custom fees = the same price you buy it locally at $599.99 + tax
with the added benefit of easy exchange (and un-branded) in case we find any of those screen pixel errors people have reported, or worse case scenario this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318972
the next best thing is to drive to the border go into a mall / tmobile store and buy it yourself
but... if you add the cost of GAS to go and come back... again it will add up to just about the same price, if you buy it locally.
LOL

well in a way it's a fair idea to get a good phone for less than retail value
but i very doubt any one would be willing to forgo their free upgrade/retention for less than $500
considering the phone only came out 2.5 week ago

talk me out of it...

i'm about to hit the checkout button on expansys-usa. i just don't see a gsm version officially hitting the states until probably february and it'll probably be only 16gb version. what's a tech addict supposed to do?
Do what I did and click Check out.
Give in. I did. We can sell the 16 when the 32 or the SGS3 hits. I was tired of waiting and you only live once. Enjoy!
Just got mine from there and its bad ass my friend. Sorry I can't help you here.

I was in the same boat. I had the order screen up, staring at the pay button. Finally I just effin pressed Pay now. I sold my GS2 and paid a good chunk more for this phone. It arrived today. It seriously is the most amazing phone I've ever used. I have an iPhone 4 now for work and a GS2 before it for personal. The combo of ICS and this beautiful device just make for an awesome out of box experience. If you really want it, if you keep looking up stuff about it and thinking about it...buy it. You won't regret it.
it doesn't help i've already bought a mhl adapter, 6" rt angle to rt angle 3.5mm cable, screen protector, tpu case for it and an otg cable.
no GSM until February ? Why ffeb? There is not an official release date for the GSM. No one knows if come Monday Google will announce a date.

I would say your best bet is to at least wait for the release in Canada and then import it from Canada. You'll probably get a better deal that way. The official release date in Canada is Dec.8 and that's just a matter of less than two weeks so I would say wait until then and see if there is any more news on the GSM version in USA, and if not, import it from Canada for a smaller price
EDIT: Actually, either way the unlocked Galaxy Nexus from Bell is $649 without tax so with taxes and duty fees etc. its probably going to amount to the same price. Lol, I guess that was no help after all

Ok, I'll play devil's advocate for this thread. I happen to be one that really wants this phone as well, however I am going to wait just a little while longer for any rumors that it will be available 'legitimately' in the US for GSM. A few thoughts Im having:
- Warranty. If I were to buy from Negri, Handtec etc, while they most likely would assist in getting my device fixed, it would still take probably 2-6 weeks and 9 months down the road they may not be as helpful to expedite it. Also, they may give you a loaner phone, otherwise you would have to provide that while you're phone is in the shop.
- I have a feeling the US based GSM phones will be $599 for 16gb. While its only $100 less than buying it right now, I figure its worth the small wait.
- While I believe everyone's opinion over this phone, I also wanted to at least see a Verizon version of the device at a Best Buy just to make sure.
I have gone through a lot of android devices lately and hoping to find the right fit for me. Assuming the Nexus is, I hope to own it for at least 18 months. For others, feel free to refute me and maybe I'll be suckered into buying now as well
I'm one of the unlucky Handtec people still waiting on my pre-order and I would still hit the checkout button even with the foreknowledge of this. It's one of the few phones out there where the hardware and software are working together rather than the multitude of phones that are indeed hardware powerhouses but have the OS slapped on seemingly as an afterthought.

[Q] Cheapest place to get Galaxy Nexus for someone in US?

For someone in the United States trying to get the HSPA version of the Galaxy Nexus, where would be it be the cheapest to buy from (after tax, shipping, VAT, etc)?
I've been trying to get my hands on the GNexus, but paying 750+ USD just doesn't seem worth it (even if it won't come out in the US for a month or two if at all). Can we compile a list to compare the prices of all the retailers (online preferably) that are selling the phone?

That's still a bit pricey... about one hundred more than what I am willing to pay (I got both the Nexus One and Nexus S for <$600). Is that the cheapest price anywhere?
Does it come with a warranty or insurance?

Unless they start selling them in the US directly at retailers, you won't find one for under $600 any time soon. Right now Handtec is the cheapest at just under $700 as others have said. When calculating your price keep in mind that some credit card companies charge a foreign transaction fee of around 2%-3%.

That's it! I'm sleeping under a rock! Someone wake me up when the Galaxy Nexus is under $600! I have nothing else to live for! :'(
ok, got it... £450 is a pretty reasonable price to me, since i'm gonna be in the usa next week i'm thinking to buy it, so i'm wondering if i'll need to pay any import duty...
Youre also paying the premium of it being imported and the satisfaction of having it early. Its not a high rollers club thing. Its just reality at the moment. The more my atrix rebooted the more i want to throw this phone out the window even though its a nice and capable phone. My nexus hopefully will be here by friday. Oh yes it will be mine.

No. Probably still looking at $700usd with all the fees, shipping and taxes. Some of us thought about that but the savings are marginal.

Here is how to get the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for up to as little as $465 in the US:
1. Sign-up for MrRebates.com to get 2% cash back from Expansys-USA.
2. The phone on Expansys USA is $750, but you can use the discount code 20OFFLS to knock the price to $730. (It has to be a US seller in order for you to be able to use step 3.)
2. Since you use MrRebates.com, you get 2% cash back, which brings the effetive price down $715.
3. You can use the Price Protection feature of your credit card to get price drops of up to $250 reimbursed, but only if the transaction was in US Dollars. So if, within 60 days, you see the phone advertised in the US for less than $730, the credit card will give you the difference.
4. This might reduce your total damage to $465.
We may not see a full $250, but I venture to say that a $100 price drop is virtually guaranteed.
Other have mentioned to use BigCrumbs.com instead for 4% cash-back. Their reviews are not quite as good as those of MrRebates.com though.

Your "total damage" will only be as low as the cheaper one you could get in the US. And since the phone will never be sold for $465 unlocked in the US, you'll never get a full $250 back. Like you said, a more reasonable price we'll see for the US unlocked version is about $600.

I'm assuming you're talking about the GSM version? We've already seen price drops since its been released. Its down to the $685 range from the $700+ when it first came out.
Gotta realize that since US users are importing from the UK, the prices are going to be a bit inflated. It'll of course come down over time just like anything else. But unless this starts getting sold directly in the US, the prices are going to stay high for the next couple months.

That's not a bad price. Negri has really been getting aggressive/competitive on pricing considering they were one of the more expensive ones when the phone first came out.
Its up now at Negri for $644.50 and On Amazon new ones are selling at 658, prices are coming down but slowly.. I am still patient, its hardly 2 weeks since the launch in US!! Considering LTE + 32GB verizon retailing at $650, this should cost something like $550 for 16GB when it launches on a GSM carrier.
It won't fall through $600, unless there are some coupon codes or something like that. They are selling for $600+ unlocked in countries that have it on sale officially. Of course in a few months, you can easily find one for less than $600 used or refurbished. But if you are looking for a new one, don't expect sub-600 price anytime soon.

is there a benefit from buying it from a place like Expansys vs Amazon? I know Expansys helps out with middleman for warranty issues but I could solve that by buying insurance from Ensquared right?

Everyone has a different experience it seems but most importers are offering some help by being a middle man for warranties.
3rd party phone insurance like squaretrade, etc. is completely different because those are going to cover accidental damage and have more options, whereas the factory warranty will only cover defects and things.

We'll see I guess. I'm not expecting it to be down near $600 any time soon either but I'm hopeful. Right now Negri is leading the charge at $645 with others coming down as well. Compare that w/ the pre-order and first week prices that were in the $750 range. That obviously doesn't mean it'll drop another $100 anytime soon but just something to think about.

Basically the only reason why you'd want to have the factory warranty is for from-factory defects and issues. You could potentially get these issues fixed free of cost from the manufacturer, whereas every claim with a 3rd party insurer can carry a deductible and go against your yearly claim allowance (aka you could pay out of pocket for things that should be fixed for free).
But like I said, I'd go look and see what peoples experiences with different importers is regarding factory warranty. My understanding is that Negri will help facilitate a factory warranty return (you ship to Negri, they ship to the UK for fix, ship back to Negri, ship back to you). I'd assume others do this also but I can't say for sure. Just going by what I've read.

The phone will cost $199 for 32GB, $299 for 64 GB on AT&T, according to the carrier's site.
Seems really expensive to me given it's specs and the fact that it does not run the Play store and likely locked to AT&T with a locked bootloader.
This is not a Galaxy S5. People expected this phone to be priced more like a Google Nexus or Kindle (ad subsidized), but all they ended up with was run of the mill AT&T pricing.
The functionality is cool but at this price I wonder who is going to buy this phone. At this price, people who want an Android will stick with LG or Samsung, and the others will get an iPhone... who is going to go with Amazon? What is the selling feature.. being able to play with maps in 3D?

Yea I was expecting something more like Moto G or Nexus Pricing. Thats WAY to much for a phone. I`d rather have the new iPhone for amount of money, And I`m an Android person
720p

Facebook fone v2.0. or maybe v0.1.2.

A 720p display that's only 4,7" is not really a problem.
I was a big fan of the LG 3D and moved on to the LG 3D MAX. moved away from the 3D MAX due utter lack of support from LG in terms of software upgrades. Was looking forward to this phone since the rumours started as I loved the 3D technology. Unlike many people, I had no issues whatsoever in viewing 3D on the phones.
This phone turned out to be a whimper instead of a loud bang!

Agreed. I don't even notice any pixels on my Note II with same resolution but much larger screen. Once thing I don't understand is why they are still using 4.2.2 as base android branch. What's so difficult to move to newer versions? With the growing popularity of wearable devices which need Blue LE. They should at least use 4.3 as baseline.
I was very skeptic that amazon would launch this thing subsidized like it did with the kindle since probably everyone involved knew the risk of the phone becoming the cheap powerful phone everyone is flashing custom ROMs to instead of using the heavy data mining fireOS that would pay for the devices.
But amazon went the exact other way this time and with these prices its obviously making money with each phone sold, much like apple, while shipping an almost generic slab with no custom hardware besides 4 extra cameras for a laggy 3D UI effect, unlike apple with all its custom hardware and design.
IMHO this thing aint gonna sell squat, so I'm gonna wait until bezos panics and makes it $99 unlocked.
Then I will honor the deal by wiping out that spyware crap it comes with
...
I don't know how to delete my question, but it has already been asked elsewhere, apologies. If an admin could please delete this, I'd appreciate it, thank you.
I work for amazon and supposedly the phone will be significantly cheaper for employees just don't know by how much. they are also supposed to be giving us extra incentives for us to buy it.
A tablet is One thing But a Phone? This will have the same fate as the Facebook phone. Take away the Amazon apps and this thing is just another brick in the bunch. That 3d effect might be cool for a little bit but I bet i gets anouying after a while and its style looks Ugly. DONT GET ME STARTED IN THE PRICE. It is almost guaranteed it will be locked better than Ft. knox. Dont waste money on this Amazon, spend it on the Drones and just release the apps on Android, Windows and Apple Youll make more money that way.9

The facebook phone was incredibly half-assed compared to this.
The problem with the FP is price and price alone, everything else can be forgiven but the price is just batcrap insane, what were they thinking? did they not learn anything from the first iphone price? for the record that one too was at&t-only and it didn't sell well until apple dropped the price.
For amazon to get the marketshare it wants this thing should be $200 unlocked
Mine will be here today, paid $0 out the door went with the monthly ATT Next deal so I will at least only have to wait a year to upgrade again instead of two years as in the past. If it weren't for the free Amazon Prime for a year, since I do so much business with them each month, I probably would have passed on this phone but my S3 is messed up and I wanted something different. This will definitely be different.

So let me get this straight, for a $99 Prime account you went ahead and bought the biggest piece of crap phone and signed up for 2 years?
Sent from my LG-D851
No, one year of prime + signed up for one year of ATT Next. Regardless, the phone is going back tomorrow since Amazon refuses to return my phone calls, answer my emails, and their "Mayday" button isn't working at the moment on said piece of **** phone.
Edit: and I haven't paid anything yet. I am returning this dogpile, if ATT wants to pro-rate me as part of their "Next" plan, they will be talking to my lawyers for teaming up with Amazon for this crap.
The Fire phone price dropped to $449 and those who bought it soon before the drop (for the higher price) can ask for a refund and Amazon will most often acknowledge that!
Fire sale
Amazon is now offering this unlocked/no contract for $199 WITH a year of Amazon prime ($99 value).
