Flash the stock recovery with Odin. The thread is in the dev section.
Thanks mucho
if you want the update why don't you just install a stock 2.3.6 rom from the dev section?
did it work?

Dont use the ones in the dev, deodex suck unless for theme but i find it to use more memory somehow.. Which isnt suppose to. Flash mikeyinid stock odex from the dev section.. Same as update from tmobile but i think he debloated it.. Removed dumb apps from tmobile

Howd you do that
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Tried flashing back to stock and it failed. Somehow bricked my phone.
If it connects to download mode, keep trying to flash stock 2.3.5 or 2.3.6. I have both if you need any.. Pm me on google if so, same user name

Hello
I have t989(T-mobile) device.
and, I need STOCK(unrooted) T989D image.
(I have already T989 rooted CWM image by mr.x .
but unroot method not exist)
T989 image is heavy then T989D. So I prefer T989D ICS stock image.
Because, my company security app detect device rooting.
(I can't disable this security app)
If you have this image, could you share to me?
I need this image to CWM image.
Because, my t989 can't flash tar image, it will occur follow problem.

Thanks.
From what I understand you can't flash an unrooted zip file. Mainly because if it's unrooted you can't flash lol. My suggestion is to remove root and update via kies. Atleast that's the easiest simplest way of doing what you want.

Is burn stock t989d tar image?
If yes, it failed because t989 and t989d modem is not compatible.

No, factory reset only resets current rooted rom. Stock has to be flashed through odin. Unless it's a rooted stock image. Going back to complete stock resets your recovery too...removed root permissions. It's basically starting over

not really any help there. rooting is not the issue. didnt know if anything was hard coded into the device with the ics update that prevented anyone from being able to just put the phone in download mode and load up the official odin roms to downgrade.
No, you can use the stock ROM at anytime to flash to GB or back to ICS.
Did you not read the second paragraph of the thread?

Root should be fine. Its the custom recovery that'll prevent you from even being able to get the update.
You will lose root though unless you use voodoo rootkeeper or mobile odin pro.

You probably have a custom recovery causing it to fail.
Regardless of how you update you will possibly lose some settings. Its recommended, but not required to do a clean update anyway. But flashing with odin should preserve your settings as well as the ota would. Once they boot up it shouldn't matter as the resulting build is the same.

Depends if you've done anything to your current build.
Cwm will flash it, but I just don't care for it. Caused probs for quite a few people.
But you have to be full stock. No mods, no deodexing, no bloat removal, no modems flashed, etc.
Then you should be able to flash it in cwm.
Its preferred you do it through stock recovery. You can use voodoo rootkeeper to preserve root.

Hey guys so i rooted my phone using odin and was attempting to put on cyanogen mod 10.1 when it failed and i restored to factory settings. then i thought ill restore to my previously saved backup and it stayed at the samsung screen that lights up behind the white lettters. now i tried going into recovery mode and restoring to factory and also tried clear cache and delvik cache. only problem is it still got stuck at the samsung screen so i then tried to reroot it on obin but since there was a binary count of 1 it didnt work what can i dooo
binary count wouldn't stop anything from flashing. after flashing a stock rom with odin again, make sure to go directory into recovery to wipe data/factory reset and then boot up the phone.
I got it working then I tried to put cyanogen 10.1 on and it crashed again idno what the deal is I put it on sd card and loaded it with root manager
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app
root manager? or rom manager?
sent from my I747
Don't use rom manager to flash a rom. Odin back to stock (Samsung devices are special that way) or use one of the root injected firmwares in one of the stickies in the development section. Once you get set up, download goo manager from the play store (you must be rooted to use it). From the menu of goo manager install recovery script, you will then have twrp recovery installed. Then follow the instructions in the op for the rom you want to flash. If this seems foreign to you then Odin back to stock and stay there. If you want to continue to modify your device read and read some more. Tony stark has a thread with all the information you need. Just Google search.
