Yesterday I tried flashing a transparent music widget (see post below):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21016890&postcount=67
After some trial and error I managed to get the original music app re-installed. However now every time I install a new app it FCs immediately
Old apps are working fine, what could the issue be?
Edit: Running Fix Permissions now from CWM, let see if that helps
Edit2: Thank the gods! That fixed it

Hello,
I just installed BCM RC2.2U4 GSM on my Desire.
PVT1 AMOLED
16gig Class 6 SD-Card, 2 gig SD-ext
no swap
Stock hboot
latest radio
I went through the Aroma Installer and chose Play Store to install. Dalvik and Apps m2sd.
Everything went fine so far, I booted, did a reboot - then stuck on boot animation.
Pulled battery - second boot worked fine. Everything looks good.
But the PlayStore wasnt installed? Tried the same process again - same.
Then pulled the APK from the gapps.zip from cyanogendmod wiki and installed it myself. Install went through, but the PlayStore keeps FCing. I did clean cache and forced to stop and tried again - same behaviour..
No I dont know what to do?!
Thanks for you help,
David
Additional Info:
Chose Nova Launcher
I came from BCM version b0.3.6_1 so first time with HWA
And I installed the update for Camera Preview fix
If your "Android Market" works, just be happy and let everything as it is. There is no "need" to upgrade to Play Store.
Hi,
well I did have the Play Store on my previous installation, too. And it did work fine!
Just tried it again. I can open the app now and browse all the apps. But when I want to update an App it FCs immediately...
Also I noticed that the Play Store seems not be a system app. It appears under "downladed" in settings->apps

Try to unistall market using root explorer or root uninstall and then extract market .apk from RC2.2U4 or older version and then install it
Unless I'm wrong, which, you know, I'm not...
I got it to work with a complete reinstall, this time choosing the "old market " option in aroma.
Still it is shown as play store?! I didn't know about the different apks so I guess I had the regular market before, but it just has a new icon and name.. I was not aware of this.
Now everything works just awesome. Love this Rom!
And thanks for your help!

Hey Guys,
I need your help. Long time ago I installed winamp 1.2.9 on my device but yesterday I've noticed that there is no shortcut listed to start the App.
So I tried to figure out why. I tried to install the apk file again but it fails telling Install not being successful.
I tried the newer version of Winamp on the Market but again install fails telling Not Compatible update!
I tried to locate the Winamp Files in System Folder an deleted them successfully. But again the same problem.
Tried to wipe cache and dalvik --> Boot loop
Is there a way to clean deinstall the App manually in order to re install the new version?
Using Kindle Stock ROm ver. 6.3.1 rooted
Thank you so much in advance

Moving to Q&A, please post all questions there.

part of the problem may lie in the fact that your using rooted stock dunno? have you tried something like root uninstaller pro? to remove the app also I hate to say this to everyone as a fix sometimes it does work out for the better truthfully I have never see it not but you can flash modaco found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439916 right over your existing system without wiping that might clear up any chances of permission issues as far as removing an app. As far as updating an app just because it shows available doesnt mean that it is for your device compatibility issues are usually that way for a reason maybe it doesnt like gingerbread?? but there is another option you could always just sideload it instead and see if it takes and functions correctly good luck
I have provided my dropbox link to you in a pm give it a shot doesn`t mean that the icon will show in your apps though
Hi,
I recently flashed hashcode's latest version of unofficial CM10.2 w/android 4.3 on my kindle fire 8.9, and for the most part, things were working well. I started having problems when i opened the app tray in landscape orientation. The app tray window closes, with a 'trebuchet has stopped working' error message. After this happens, I can no longer open the app tray, even in portrait orientation.
I found a quick workaround (clear trebuchet app data and cache), but after a few times of going through this process (clearing trebuchet data/cache every time I open the app tray in landscape), i could no longer open the app tray at all. So, I decided to install a different launcher for now (go launcher), and I can at least launch different apps and switch between them. at least I can get by
is it possible that a widget or app that i installed is giving me problems with opening app tray in landscape? do ya'll have any problems with this, or somehow not use the app tray?
i guess running factory reset in TWRP might fix my problems with trebuchet. will i lose my apps after doing this?
thanks

The results of a dirty flash or maybe you installed the wrong gapp package. full wipe reflash.
Fresh Reinstall
You will lose your apps clearing everything out doing a full wipe, but doing that and reinstalling right now is probably your best bet. That way you at least have a fresh install and can rule that out.
I've got a Redmi 1s with stock ROM. (v36.0) 4.3 JLS36C with root. Everything was working fine and I was taking some pictures. All of a sudden Camera shortcut got deleted from the Launcher. I checked the presence of Camera.apk and .odex file at /system/app and is still present there. Tried the following steps, but could not get the Camera launcher back online.
Details:
Rooted stock (version 36.0) CWM installed
Steps tried so far:
Cleared Cache
Cleared Dalvik Cache
Checked the permissions and ownership of the camera.apk.
Tried copying the camera.apk to the sdcard folder and tried installing. It prompted with a warning that the installed app will replace a system app, and on clicking install, the installation failed with an error message "installation failed"
Nothing worked.
Links2SD is installed and none of the apps are frozen.
Tried activity launcher to see if there any camera activity that can be launched, but again in vain.
Please help to get the camera back. I really like the MIUI Camera app. (For the time being, I'm using Camera ICS, Instagram and Fast Burst camera to capture some of the moments with my little one! )
Thanks in advance!
Solved it.
The app was listed in the apps, went and uninstalled all the updates, restored the factory version of the app, cleared the data and cache and voila! the app appeared on screen! Thanks for reading and the suggestions! :good:
back up ur data and hard reset ur phone and see.
if that does'nt work...reflash the latest miui rom for ur region....i should work thereafter .

Hey Guys,
I am using the 3.5.5 build with 3.2.7 fw.
Everything is working fine except youtube videos keep stuttering. I tried changing resolutions (144p to 1080p) but nothing worked.
Also play store freezes when apps are getting updated/installed followed by SystemUI getting restarted.
is anyone facing the same issue?
im rooted and have xposed

Before posting any issues pertaining to software like fcs, lag or stuttering first do a clean install and see if everything works fine without the mods, then once you've ascertained the stability of a clean rom install one mod at a time to find issue causing mod.
If that appears to be a job too cumbersome then do the following
Xposed is major cause of such issues uninstall one module at a time and see if the issue is resolved.
Don't flash fw of one rom over other you never know how your rom and mod setup will behave to the new firmware.
Sometimes a restoring data of apps through Titanium backup could cause such issue try restoring the app alone then the data of apps you deem to be very essential.
The best way is to wipe your data clean and not install unnecessary mods.
Clear Cache
Try this for the play store:
1. disable (settings)
2. clear cache
3. show system apps (back in setting app menu)
4. disable and clear cache of google services framework
5. reboot
6. re-enable play services
I had a similar issue were I could not update apps via playstore and could not download any files on my device.
Additionally, google photos and the camera app closed themselves immediately.
Clearing app data for Download-Manager and Downloads followed by a restart fixed it for me.
